      @@DakkaDakka12 The difference between the Eldar and the abhumans, such as squats, is that the Eldar are xeno. They're aliens, not mutated humans. That's why they're reviled.
      Since the great crusade began, one of the core tenants was to mistrust aliens, because their betrayal of mankind was one of the many reasons humans fell into a galactic dark age in the time before the Emperor revealed himself to humanity. That's why he taught man to fear the xeno, because xenos had proven themselves untrustworthy.
      Edit: To compound on this; Any race (especially in this millennia of warfare) will inevitably put their own well being ahead of humanity's. This is why the stance towards aliens had to be mistrust, because they will betray you when there is an incentive to do so, and the Emperor's goal/purpose was/is to always put humanity's interest first. If you can even imagine it, the Eldar find humanity even more repugnant than we find them.
      The only reason they are attempting to "ally" with humans now, is because the Eldar now _need_ Mankind. More accurately, they need the *Emperor* of Mankind. If it became convenient for them to turn on us, after the fact, they more than definitely would - barring any happy-go-lucky writing on behalf of the new Black Library staff.

      He knows how powerful the Emperor is. Most people forget that the Big E "holding back Chaos" is basically a guy holding closed and already locked door. He's not out there throwing hands with the Chaos Gods in the Warp every day like a lot of people think He is.
      Magnus I think, is just unaware of how busted and scattered his father's soul is or if he does, he knows that as he is right now, he couldn't take Chaos openly. He can strike out at it in limited ways and can do so more now than ever thanks to the psychic awakening however the only times he has ever actually managed to do anything truly meaningful against Chaos has been in those moments when he pulls himself together temporarily - like when he spoke to Guilliman or saved gim from Mortarion and burned a section of Nurgle's Garden.
      There's also the fact that Chaos isn't used to being confronted by anything even remotely close to their own power aside from each other - let alone a being that can actually match them. I imagine it was quite the shock for Nurgle and likely caught him very off guard.
      With all that said, I think either Magnus is unaware of just how badly shared Big E really is or if he does know, he's aware that daddy can't fight Chaos as he is without becoming whole again.

      That's just not correct at all.
      He has to constantly struggle to hold the door shut against the raw warp. He is literally holding back the raw warp after the webway was breached. You may not have read the heresy books detailing exactly what he is holding back?
      The task of doing it was enough to kill Malcador, who was powerful enough to kill a normal primarch with his mind, in a few hours and it weakened the Emperor before he faced Horus.
      The Gods were unable to face the Emperor so they had to combine their powers into Horus to do so.
      That's the literal point of the Heresy, the only way they could destroy his plans to rid Mankind of the threat of he warp.
      The Gods aren't all powerful, there is a reason the Gods call him Anathema.

      Here's the excerpt for you.
      The Sigillite’s face twisted into a vengeful rictus. He felt the old, familiar rage beginning to stir, deep in his undying soul.
      ‘Enough. You will be silent, or I will unmake you, here and now.’
      Horus’ windpipe closed with a sickly crackle. His right eye bloomed red as a blood vessel burst in the sclera.
      But still he would not relent.
      So defiant. So… So… ungrateful…
      Alpharius took an uncertain step back. ‘Stop, Lord Regent. Stop. You will kill him.’
      Tiny, crawling motes of light began to creep in at the edges of Malcador’s vision. He could feel heat building within his ancient bones, stinging at the meat of his flesh. The stench of burning hair rose in his nostrils.
      ‘Sigillite!’ bellowed the Khan.
      And in an instant, it was over.
      Malcador released Horus. The primarch crashed to the tiled floor, convulsing, almost gagging on rough lungfuls of air. Alpharius rushed to his side.‘

    Honestly i still really like the theory that the Emperor found a way to bind one's own image in the warp to the material soul. That that is how the Primarchs were created, and that that is what the Emperor is slowly phasing out of.
    That his soul carries such an astronomical weight in the warp that his body can't bear it, literally burning away at the near-immaterial level, the only thing keeping him 'alive' and from truly ascending to the warp being the Golden Throne. Once the counterbalance of the body drops, the spirit will know freedom. And for the first time in forever, the Gods of Ruin *_fear._*

      However, unlike them, and unlike other immaterial creatures like the Old ones... The emperor still has a physical body, an anchor that allows him to revolve in the material realm and stabilises his being.
      The chaos gods can't manifest themselves out of the warp, no matter how hard they try to, because they have no ties to it, and their daemons can't stay for long on the material plane unless they find themselves an "Host" to possess.
      This makes the emperor practically impossible to deal with for the forces of the immaterium, because his soul always has a place to return to (that's not in the warp) thanks to his ties to mortality :
      The only way for the four gods to kill the emperor for good would be to destroy his very soul, something they can't do while he's alive, as he's too strong for them, but because he has strong ties to the material realm... His soul never enters the warp, even if his body was to be destroyed completely.
      Just like it is for perpetuals, the emperor's soul would just roam around the material realm waiting to be reincarnated, out of reach of the chaos gods and their minions. They couldn't prevent him from coming back again even if he were to die.

    Most people forget that the Big E "holding back Chaos" is basically a guy holding closed and already locked door. He's not out there throwing hands with the Chaos Gods in the Warp every day like a lot of people think He is.
    Much of the galaxy I think, is just unaware of how busted and scattered the Emperor's soul is or, if they do know, they also know that as he is right now, he couldn't take Chaos openly. He can strike out at it in more limited ways and can do so more now than ever thanks to the psychic awakening however, the only times he has ever actually managed to do anything truly meaningful against Chaos has been in those moments when he pulls himself together temporarily - like when he spoke to Guilliman or saved him from Mortarion and burned a section of Nurgle's Garden.
    There's also the fact that Chaos isn't used to being confronted by anything even remotely close to their own power aside from each other - let alone a being that can actually match them. I imagine it was quite the shock for Nurgle and likely caught him very off guard.

We were able to create a device, which would allow us to mine all existing knowledge out of the warp. From everything we know, it was the Great Old Ones that created the younger races, and that means the origin stories we have for the Emperor imply the Great Old Ones technically created him. So while we don't know for sure, it is entirely possible that the strongest of the Great Old Ones were stronger than Emps.

      @TheSpicyLeg 6 месяцев назад +11

      @@crashingatom6755 Yes and no. While it is no longer the “canon” creation of the Emperor, it is still possibly the one. It’s sort of left up to each person how they think the Emperor came to be. Born a mutant human being that was immortal, who gained power over the millennia? A simple Perpetual that was empowered during the Dark Age? An instrument - or even an actual entity - of the Old Ones?
      All of these have evidence that can be used to support them, and evidence that could be used to contradict them. I personally prefer the shaman creation theory because it gives a better explanation to why the Emperor is rather uncaring of individual humans, even the Primarchs at times, yet fanatically to the point of absurdity dedicated to the preservation of humanity as a whole. Furthermore it gives some explanation to why the Emperor, out of all the entities and gods that oppose Chaos, is the only one that they call the Anathema. The Emperor isn’t just their enemy, he is their antimatter to their matter. The Ruinous Powers didn’t fear the Aeldari gods, but they instinctually fear the Emperor. Lastly, the theory explains the multiple personalities the Emperor displays, such as to Guilliman. The Emperor is more like a Gestalt consciousness created by all these shaman becoming one entity, yet their individual perceptions and beliefs break through at times. That’s why Guilliman heard a bunch of titles and names, because one personality sees him as a traitor for not being there when the Emperor was wounded, yet another views him as a son above all else, another, a tool, another, the last hope, etc.
      In the end, there is no canonical answer. And there very likely never will be.

    • @samhunter1205
      @samhunter1205 6 месяцев назад +1

      I never liked the ancient shamans idea or thought it made any real sense. Combining a few hundred psykers into one being doesn't create power on the order of magnitude of the Emperor. They would all have needed to be immensely powerful individually, and there is no explanation offered as to why that would be the case. Canon doesn't really exist in 40k, it is all made up of accounts from unreliable narrators, so I see no real reason to take the idea seriously - unless it appeals to you of course, I mean what makes the lore great is that it is left open enough for people to impose their own interpretations on it.

    • @justinanderson2460
      @justinanderson2460 6 месяцев назад

      @@samhunter1205+
      I'm inclined to disagree with the part that it doesn't make sense. For one thing, we've seen many times rhat combining psychic energy from multiple beings working in concert always creates a power exponentially greater than the sum of it's parts. The Grey Knights for example use this tactic all the time and in fact, it was the very method which they used to banish Angron on Armageddon when individually, they were all just fodder. Even as far back as the War in Heaven, the Aeldari used to pool their energies into summoning and actually maninfesting psychic constructs and even their own Gods onto the battlfield to fight beside them.
      Imagine a Kabal of Chaos Sorcerers combining their power and summoning fucking TZEENTCH onto the battlefield. Yeah. Let that sink in. To be fair, WiH era Aeldari were STUPIDLY powerful compared to anything around today (M41/42) but still, the concept is there. Also, the Warp was not like it is today and could be used a lot more freely and with more abandon than it can be these days without horrible side-effects but that acrually brings me to my next point.
      The Shamans of the time would have already been pretty powerful as far as mortal human psykers go. As I mentioned, the Warp at the time was more freely usable than it is now as it was only in direct response to the fact Shamans were BEGINNING to have their souls eaten before they could reincarnate that caused them to merge in the first place.
      Also, don't forget that the Emperor wasn't nearly as powerful as he ended up to begin with. He spent MILLENIA collecting knowledge and power for himself and even then, he was far from all-powerful. He deliberately hid during the Dark Age of Technology because he knew full well that of he emerged then and tried anything, the humans of the time could and would just kill him and go about their day. It would use been that casual. We also know that he gained a MASSIVE power boost on Molech that made him into the comparatively Godlike being we saw during the Great Crusade. Yet even then, we know that he was still nothing compared to the Chaos Gods directly - he just knew how to leverage his advantages (and their disadvantages) against them and did so with great skill.
      Canon DOES exist, it's just that a lot of the time, certain details of events are left up to personal preference or interpretation and deliberately given multiple explanations from different sources to allow for people to apply the lore flexibly and get a more personalised experience out of it. However, in other cases, there is absolutely indisputable Canon that absolutely is just that: Canon. For example, the Fall of Cadia and subsequent opening of the Great Rift are 2 examples of definitely canon events that happend with one directly causing the other in a very obvious, explicit and undeniably inarguably way.

      Not sure if the Harlequins killing Custodes is that unbelievable, they are supposed to be far superior to Aspect Warriors in the lore and make use of psychic powers and technology the Custodes don't have much natural defence against without Silent Sisters around. Not saying a Harlequin is a match for a Custodian 1v1 of course, but I am assuming they were ganging up when killing Custodians.

      Harlequins vary drastically in power though. Remember Solitares are legitimately Primarch tier warriors (although they ARE a cut above the rest) and the fact that most of the tech Harlequins use does shit like ignore durability or make them intangible kinda makes them some of the best counters to purely physical fighters (which the Custodes are). Also they are psykers and without the Sisters of Silence backing them up, the Custodes have no defence against psychic attacks.
      The "getting into the palace" part is explained well enough I thought. They managed to forcefully tear open a tiny slit between the Webway and Terra which is unstable as hell, can only be very briefly held ope amd costs rhe lives ofultiple Eldar just to accomplish that for a few short moments. What is the point of confusion here?
      I admit the 6 Beasts thing was a bit of an arse-pull and kinda weird but the Vulcan thing could be explained in any number of ways considering he was caught in an explosion of pure Waaagh! energy - which is specifically infamous for causing all kinds of weird shit to happen.

    While I'm inclined to see a rewrite of _The Beast Arises,_ that scene where the Harlequins feel the presence of the Emperor and are scared was golden. 😎

      Hot damn. That escalated quickly... but also holy shit, you're right. They would already be so much more physically sturdy than regular mortals, their longevity while participating in the project would be insane compared to mortals.

    You repeat yourself a lot, like whole paragraphs and that makes it hard for me to listen to your videos.
