i got to go on a school band trip if i agreed to be in the choir and sing bass, which i reluctantly did, then the teacher busts out this beauty. good times
we just got music for this song and I can't stress how much this song is one of my favorites. I love Moses Hogan and all his works. I hope this turns out just as well with our choir
I disagree as well. I sang this song at District Chorus my sophomore year of high school and we took it about this speed until the end...then we went faster! Great, great song!
I did this with my choir and our director gave us turns to direct so we learned to pay attention and to get input from different people. It was so much fun to direct and it was awesome how many different things one could do with this. When we preformed it at our big show, some guy shot to his feet and nearly pulled his hair out "From [our] awesomeness." (And that was a direct quote.) I'll never forget preforming this~
I LOVED the tempo....! The first time i heard this song was with the World Youth Choir conducted by Anton Armstrong, but he did way more slow than u did... this tempo gave the song a whole diferent character... LOVED IT... Tnx for sharing...!
We're doing this song at school for my choir and only 3 of our basses could hit that low note at 0:26. Us tenors just looked at each other when we heard the note lol
You know, I like the tempo this choir's taken. Besides just liking the way it sounds, I have two more specific reasons: 1. you can clearly hear the text, and 2. I've heard too many Moses Hogan pieces race like runaway trains. Come on, everybody, clearly we all know/have sung his stuff, and we're all probably guilty of rushing it at one time or another.
He's coming SOON! I'm talking about Jesus, Son of the Most High GOD! The ONLY GOD there is! The God and father of Jesus of Nazareth, and within that mercy - through the anointed lam Jesus- also our God and father! We are NO longer without God or without a father or mother, for God will be both for you who believe! The Lord Jesus is coming for His own, His bride. If you stay behind you will really be lost! Stay in Christ Jesus! No scientoligie/new age/mindfullness/ mohammed/krishna/ etc. LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL! CHOOSE THE TRUE WAY! Even "the scholars of university" are slowly finding out that what the word of God of Israel proclaimed actually is correct! Praise God! Let your soul stay anchored in the Lord! God bless you, Amen!
Moses Hogan is a musical genius. Nuff said.
Absolutely beautiful music
me and my choir at my high school sang this for concert, we did so awesome that we got a standing ovation!

its a tough one
Tenor 2 here, I could somehow hit that one and sang it with them
Tenor 1s are shook
How’d y’all do cause I just got the music today to do it. (Bass 2 here)
It’s a E. Honestly sounds like y’all are lacking in the bass department, cause that should be part of their range.
I've never heard all the parts until this recording. Fantastic balance & sound, Great job!
@WPChoralSingers yah it really was, my friend who was in a different choir after the song had a look of amazment, I love Moses Hogan's songs

Doing this song in Tonganoxie Kansas right now
we singing that song today
@hatchetlove4life1 Hope your concert went well!
I disagree. Have you ever heard recordings of the Moses Hogan chorale singing this arrangement? They take it even a bit faster than this.
Those dynamics tho!! I would want the diminuendos to be a bit more precise, but this is great!
@myloveofmusic33 Thanks. You should subscribe, we have a lot of good music being posted from our April concerts.
