Im not convinced that they want to speed up the war so much as they want to refocus the community onto a range of activities. In order to make the current rate of progress a lot of folk have been focussing on a narrow range of activities. Mostly ortherus killing (which has been nerfed) and scout sampling. If they want to move people away from these activities they had to either nerf them hard (which would have significantly slowed progress) or make other activities more rewarding
I agree with this. Actually fighting in a war should have an effect on the war. Mind-numbing scout sampling on industrial levels being the most effective method to progress the war wasn't fun. I mean, it's awesome that the AX community came together and made it work. Full credit, there. I did a small amount of it, myself. I'd much rather fight in a station invasion or other CZ and have it move the needle, though.
Helping the war is all well and good...
But as far as making money and getting materials go, I just tend to do missions in AX conflict zones.
It's not completely optimal, but it's fun! (and pretty damn good for money and mats too)
Where could you start here? The Thargoid content is already very difficult to reach.
Unless you've been playing for years, have unlocked all the engineers, have a carrier and have unlocked the Guardian stuff. It's going to be difficult to join in with the current Thargoid content.
I remember when the thargoid maelstroms arrived in the bubble. I also tried to take part in the gameplay. But when I lost over 25 million by constantly replacing my ship, I quickly lost interest.
Because the credit grind used to be worse than it is today. And grinding to participate in a gameplay is kind of meh for newer players. So it's something for veterans. I understand that as a new player or even as a player who hasn't unlocked everything yet, you don't want to do it.
Same, literally bought the game and hopped on as the first titan was exploding, and haven't really felt the need to venture further than 100-150 ly from the system I spawned in. Grinding for ships is the top priority at the moment, then I will start to worry about upgrades (oh fun will be the system hopping for material components), then if the war isn't over by then I might consider outfitting to go bug hunting.
I've voiced this opinion before and gotten people jumping in to say how I can easily join the fight, but one thing they haven't considered is I would have to grind years' worth of gameplay in a few weeks/months, and I only have a few hours a week to play because I have an actual life to live outside of the internet.
I don't think Fdev wants to call any attention to the numbers, the numbers are lower than they would be due to Fdev failing to fix issues with Titan instance bugging out in open, because of this Commanders have to do it solo or find a team as the chances of getting into an open instance that isn't bugged is about 0.
Also I think Fdev doesn't like to share that type of information, they don't want to give anyone ammunition to use against them when they mess things up, so they often choose the "silent running" option. lol

Actually the numbers of players is up these days according to steam game usage anyway.
Thank you RIck appreciated of onece again a great video!honestly the whole goid shenanigans begins to be very very old and people have allready goid fatigue ,game dangerously turns to be Elite :Goid Simulator slowly. We need new stuff beyond goids to do besides PP and the phantom uknown new feature.
I haven’t done anything Thargoid related for a few months now, I’m not particularly good at combat and once you’ve done a bit of the other stuff it’s very much rinse and repeat. I’d like to see some more on foot activity that REQUIRES suit or weapon mods that aren’t the standard plasma wins option. Though, I do play other activities regularly 👍🏼 great vid as always. thank you !
I couldn't even get close to the last Thargoid mothership when it went critical. If it wasn't the costant attacks and interdictions, it was the caustic attacks destroying my ship. Even with caustic sinks and repair limpets.
Try installing 2 caustic sinks, and don't eject until they're both full. Set all pips to engines and boost through the toxic cloud as fast as you can, avoiding the mines. For the interdictions, use a fast ship and as soon as you come out of the interdiction spin, boost away, set full throttle, pop a heatsink, and keep boosting until you can engage hyperdrive. Install an ECMS and if you get a missile alert, hold down the ECMS to keep the missiles from striking you. I use the Phantom, Krait II, and Python II for AX operations, because they're all fast enough to escape anything once you've got them engineered.
Same for me hun, I’m not a very experienced combat pilot, I’m a girly girl 😂 but I tried, I’ll give it another go for sure - Hannah x
The goids are scary at first, and it all seems very difficult. The first time I went into the caustic cloud to get the materials to unlock the caustic sink launcher, it was horrible--didn't go back until just before the attack on Hadad, to start practicing nanite bombing. Took me a few runs to get the hang of it, but now it seems pretty easy. You'll be able to master it with a few more tries, and it's totally worth it to see one of them go the way of the Death Star from close up.
I suspect alot of Cmdrs have taken a few weeks off from the war, to play around with their shiny new Pythons... And FDev didn't account for that in _their_ schedule.
How could Cmdrs be so inconsiderate? 😂
I agree
Will be gathering materials anyway. Occasionally likely visiting uninhabited tharg systems as they're rather near. Soloing as my net can't handle team fights of over 5-6 cmdrs
When I came back after not having played since December, I felt like I was having an easier time defeating Interceptors all-around. That's just a subjective perception; could just be me--maybe I got better by osmosis while I was resting. Incidentally, it was your video on the death of Taranis that got me playing again, and I built a P2 and went for Hadad. Thanks.
Conspiracy Theory: Yes. I posted something similar on the forum, which was met with a fair bit of dislike. But I don't think it's likely to be as over as everyone is assuming. I would not be at all surprised at the Bugs pulling a new all-out Battle of the Bulge move.
Personally I think that the main problem with that war is that I can't track how many progress was made by me. What is the point of killing goids if I can't even know if system was cleared because of my efforts or by someone else.
Want the bug flowers to give you an invoice for damages rendered?
You can see this in Inara, although it only tracks commanders that have Inara accounts.
I think you have watched too many war movies. No single soldier ever makes a difference in a battle. It’s a collective effort, always. The single case where this was NOT true… the guard that left a side service door to the walls around Constantinople unlocked accidentally. Hell of a way to end a 1000 year undefeated streak.
@@Kellett781 I'm not in a war. I'm in a video game. And video games should show player score.
@@MrSandermander a video game that runs as a simulation. Want to see your high score? Play pin ball.
The war has dragged on too long and now the player base is thinning out because of that. helped with three titans the rest can go choke i don't care anymore.
It would be better if fdev would tweak the repulsive grinding in the game
Maybe, just maybe, bring back ax reactivation missions....
I love those things, when they work
Thargoids have lost 4 of 8 Titans and they should be weaker now as compared to earlier.
when will they change tactics??
@@RicardosGaming Thargoids are not too smart, are they. If they were humans they would be suing for peace, right about now, since they lost 50% of their biggest weapons.
I have over 5000 hours in this game, I reset my account for RUclips content and game tutorials and can say without a doubt I will not be putting any effort into grinding, engineering or moving towards any of the thargoid and titan gameplay even though I took part in the first 3 titan kills. The gameplay to get there is boring and repetitive and then the thargoid content gets old way too fast.
First :D
Also, your first channel comment....
@@fishstix4209 how could you know that?

@1337itjosh it may be a click on the avatar picture, but still, welcome in cmdr. Ric streams on the weekends, and it's usually a fun time. Not to mention his yt uploads and patch note breakdowns. Fun seeing new channel cmdrs, didn't mean to offend with the call out.
I just wander if we need any war in Elite. Our own entire world is on fire...so I think we need to practice Games that bring us some peacefull stuff. I dont care about Thargoids and so it is for most of my friends still playing Elite. Also the number of friends still playing is decreasing year after year mostly due to an overdose of grinding my friends ! !!🫡
