Is the Plastic & Leather Prep also an adhesion promoter? I read the product/reviews and went to the SEM site, but I don't see it defined. Not sure if this is a "prep" that just helps clean/dull the surface or if it is just an ahesion. Thanks for your great videos and educating people. Tremendous help!

HI, based on your videos (thanks for them!)... the seat crack on driver's side vinyl seat now filled.....BUT darn silicone (same brand you use - since used almost your links to buy most fix-items) only deviation = bought exact color of seat paint from BMW - said could paint on afterwards w/ any type of paintbrush.
Per your advice, I mixed that paint with the silicone - color was perfect, and did 5 thin coats. very happy with how looks -- and only problem = the silicon is sticky....ughhHH..
I still intend to paint this seat with the BMW paint - have 3/4 of the bottle left.. but is there something I can do to get the silicome to NOT be sticky first? the BMW paint was expensive and slow to be delivered, and don't want to waste.... if this paint over the silicone enough for it to not be sticky, cool.... but I'm worried that the silicone will still be sticky... and can't have a sticky seat - it'll ruin my clothes..
Might you toss me some advice?
    Huge Thanks,
    Shay

We would start here amzn.to/3RxxkzO This is how we do it, we purchase many different shades of the color we are looking for and use the one that best matches. If you are a stickler for detail, then you may want to just purchase a new seat from the dealership. Thanks for the reply. My Sea Doos are too old to get parts from the dealer. I am mostly concerned with durability and to just get them to look decent. Jet ski seats can get abused and sun faded.
I have been looking for paint made for vinyl.
Can I use just about any paint?
      Will the Rust-Oleum 2X work?
Can I use GE 100% Silicone or does it need to be the Permatex adhesive silicone?

Quick question, in a separate video it seems like you used silicone to fill in cracked leather without mixing it with paint. In that case, was it because you used SEM leather paint that it could adhere to silicone without mixing?

Would it work to do exactly what you did here and mix the silicon and paint prior to placing it? Use a clean, hard plastic board (like a small cutting board that's been wiped with 99%) to mix it, then trowl or spread it (depending on whether it's cracks or a larger wear spot) where you need it? That way you kind of mix up a batch that can be consistent across multiple seats with multiple repair spots.

Here's a question can you you have the paint mixed silcone and paint on top of all ready soft selcone & not have it chip or peel off from constant bending & using? If so I do I do that & what kind of paint should I use? Ect. This what thinking paint a light coat of white silcone on top the base silicone let that drat then go back & paint what need to paint with oil paints let the dry then do coat of clear silicone let that dry & then my thinking it can threw anything. Your thoughts?

    • @SweetProjectCars

Why is your initial silicone soft? Why is it not cured? Why would you want to paint over soft silicone, if it's not cured, you don't want to do that. Thanks. mad Mike the hammer SPC

What do you think, if I was to take a 5 gallon bucket of 100% silicone roof coating (coasting me 400 dollars U.S.) & mix some paint with it then paint it on my roof, then if I wanted to even give it a coat of paint over it (or maybe not). And could I paint the silicone roof coating after it dries with a latex paint or do we need to paint it with an oil based paint. And do I need to add a oil paint with the 100% silicone roof coating or what. Thanks 2024-02-09(day).

Now, if not in a spray can, I would think that I can only use oil based (like Rust-oleum), not water based, correct? Therefore, this would leave out the "artistic acrylic paints" (water based) sold in Walmart, Michaels, etc... as well as latex paints,.is the above correct? Thanks!
