There’s a party over at Monster Mansion and everyone is invited! Usually this is a VIP-only event for the wildest and weirdest of monsters, but this time, humans can come too.
Come inside for a darkly delectable boat ride through a whole mansion’s worth of magical monstrosity! The 25,000 square foot spooktacular has been a Six Flags Over Georgia favorite for generations. But now this residence has been beautifully restored and redesigned for a whole new crew of monster-lovers.
You’ll find state-of-the-art lighting and sound to chill you and thrill you. But the real stars of the show are the 107 living, breathing monsters. Every single creature has personality and a story, not to mention spectacular fur!
Climb in your boat and drift into the flooded mansion, if you dare! Every “body” is getting ready for the picnic, but hopefully those tasty humans won’t be the main course. You’ll float through the bog where dementedly devious creatures are crawling around every corner and even flying through the air! It’s an entire world of extremely colorful and creative beasts, with faces you’ll never forget. At the monster reunion, all the funny furry ones have come out to play. Whether tiny or giant, these monsters are having the time of their lives.
A spirit made of smoke beckons you deeper! But don’t go in the marsh-it’s dark and scary in there! Fiery red eyes watch you from the dark, and you don’t even want to know who’s looking. It’s the wildest picnic party in town!

It's the unsettling feeling of the disneyland splash mountain victory scene when you are the only person on it at night, but that's the feeling for the whole ride.
I live in Georgia and this ride is a must do every time we go to six flags. One of the classics!

This is an amazing ride, especially if you try to stay out of the marsh
It is a must - do, but, it looks like they removed the climb and drop near the end of this ride which was in it even after it changed from the Okefenokee Swamp ride to the Monster Plantation. As a kid, my family used to go to Six Flags every year and we would always ride the Okefenokee Swamp ride. It was our Mamma's favorite ride there. 👍😀😉
By far one of the absolute best rides at Six Flags over Georgia and definitely a must ride. And easily gives Disney a run for its money.
I thought it was weird that they’d be so welcoming to humans but have a “hit a human” game at the same time… till I saw the ending

ETA: I actually just found out in another video that the lead designer on the design team who created this ride actually designed Mr. Toad! They were former Imagineers.

This is one of those you do when you’re tired of walking around the park and want to relax, but don’t want to just sit on a bench
Facts. When you want to cool off you grab a big ice cold water and hop on this ride. And the line usually isn’t that bad so I ride it a couple times every time. Might be one of my favorite rides no joke

As a kid, I wanted to keep riding for the monsters. As an adult, I want to keep riding because it's air conditioned.

When this first opened in the 80s, as Monster Plantation, me and my cuz rode it about 6 times. Every time we got hot. Such a relaxing fun time. Will never forget those times.

I still have memories of this ride when I was a child, I was born and have lived in Georgia my whole life so I’ve been to Six Flags more times than I can count. I think I might have been 5 or 6 when I first rode this, and remember getting so scared at the loud horn at the end of the ride lol, my mom just laughed at me.

It used to be WAY more similar to Splash Mountain. It used to be called "Tales of the Okeefenokee". I prefer it to this version, honestly...
@@thetwistedsamurai It's as good as confirmed that Splash Mountain was heavily inspired by Tales of the Okefenokee, so it's somewhat ironic to see its successor compared to Splash Mountain.

This has more of a mushroom feel because of the cartoon-like imagery. I would definitely advise not mixing psychedelics with this ride unless if you've already peaked. ;)

I loved dark rides. This is why i loved Disneyland even they r getting crazy costly smh.
I remember when the Monster Plantation was new, I was just a little kid, I was scared to death while going through that place! Lol
A lil creepy but wried. But I like. This is what Disneyland was going to with there mansion. Make it a boat ride. But i am glad they didn't.
I have a strong love hate relationship with this ride, I rode it a ton when I was little and hated it but now it's a sacred gem
3:58 i also think the detail and creativity put into the “nightmare” entrance is next level. It really takes you a couple seconds to realize they’re actually eyes and not bioluminescence or something

Ever since the first time I ever rode that thing and I've only done it twice I freaking hate it even the friendlier quote unquote parts are scary at me and then you enter the marsh and it's way worse
same, this ride fills me with absolute terror and dread, everything from the smell, the water, the sounds, the animatronics, and even the theme song. I hate this ride.

The animatronics in this ride are purposely supposed to be creepy but light hearted at the same time, its supposed to be a scary ride after all
When I was I kid and I ride here I was just too scared and I had nightmares with it too. And the scary thing of my life is too many red eyes and a crocodile. That’s scary dude
When I lived in Georgia this ride was called the Monster Plantation
It's weird to see that it's changed. It's not like anyone was trying to say plantations were good things--especially not this one full of monsters that sacrifice you in the end. If I remember correctly, the marsh creatures you're supposed to be scared of actually try (or did in the past) to warn you about the "Human Picnic." (Not to mention that one of the lead designers on the project, who brainstormed the idea of a sunken plantation, was a black man.)
From what I've heard people thought it was "racist."

It's pretty great for what it is, thrill coasters are a dime a dozen. Dark rides like this are a dying breed

I rode this yesterday. First time going to six flags and it was scary as shit to me. I screamed half the time, it wasn’t worth screaming but if I didn’t scream, good ride!😂😂

The previous incarnation of this ride was based on Br'er Rabbit.
Just because Disney worlds song of the south is like splash mountain and this used to be song of the south doesnt make this one like splash mountain

I remember the monsters "more active" when i was younger.
I remember they were too, I remember one of the monsters would reach towards the boat . I think some of it was our imagination but a lot of that stuff needed to be fixed w/ that ride when I was working there in 2015 so it probably doesn’t move the same
The crazy thing is, when a previous disney imagineer came to restore the rides animatronics movements, a week later after the imagineer left the crew working on the ride decided to change the programming because the animatronics were supposedly not animated enough, which is probably why the bots look so raggy these days

@@waynebennett745 probably some impressive programming than the poor mouth and body movements we unfortunately have today, while six flags has recently been up on this attraction lately, repainting the whole beginning scene, new skin for the monsters, and even mascot walk around a for the ride being made, however I’m unsure if this means we will get a new story to the ride, a complete overhaul for the soundtrack of the ride or new programming.
All I’ve seen is that they have changed some audio (it’s not new) specifically removing the lyric sing along at the end of the song and replacing it with the normal ban music and they also added temporary audio for misses scarlet at the end of the ride for the holiday season, but overall the ride still isn’t in the best condition

Nah that’s what six flags has done enough of already, this ride is a classic and I genuinely enjoyed it wayy more than I thought I would. It’s much better than that justice league dark ride at over Georgia by far.
@@jonahfish7064 both are bad rides. One is a lazy dark ride clone, and one is extremely outdated with no redeeming qualities other than being an old “classic”. I rather just have them both replaced with more carnival style rides like Harley Quinn and the joker
