I used to be able to do work like this, back before Diabetic Nephropathy stole the feeling in my hands and feet. Worse, I have over a hundred plastic models still in their factory sealed boxes that I can no longer build. You hit 70, you have all this neat stuff and mother nature steals your ability to do much of anything. I even have seven books half or more written that I am no longer able to complete. People, make the beautiful things while you can, because one day you will wake up to discover that you no longer have the dexterity to do so. Battle on!
This is a superb wood working book I`ve ever read, t.co/oLg9l5gL3F . Both novice and some skilled woodworker can gain a lot of general info using this reading material. I`ve been very amazed how frequently I use this to look up woods at places like to restore and salvage spots.?
I used to write in the Futhark alphabet as a kid. Or rather a variation of my own creation as a code. I love the text on the face. "evil is evil lesser greater..." and although I couldn't read the last word from the video I can only assume it to be the famous quote from the novels..."Evil is evil, greater, lesser, middling, it makes no difference. The degree's arbitrary, the definition's blurred. If I'm to choose between one evil and another, I'd rather not choose at all."
Hi Further Fabrication, The Witcher's Wooden Alchemy Chest // Woodworking Build turned out Super Fantastic and Awesome! A work of Art, indeed. Excellent Job! Thank you for sharing your time, talents, great ideas, easy to follow instructions, and your Super Creative Fun Videos. Take care, wishing you the very best, and I hope you have a creative weekend. Subscribed, liked, & shared. thank you for the free Art Work download. Peace & Joy
I’m a self confessed RUclips junkie! This is a stunning piece of craftsmanship! So impressive. I’d love a little roman war chest for my son Roman’s baby memories. 👍🏻
Great work. That chest is pretty bad ass. A trick I sometimes use for silver screws is to dab a little cold gun blue on them. It gives them a nice color without any thickness.
Never thought I'd say this to a guy but nice box man! I'm a treasure hunter and I have a small version minus the etching for displaying my 156 silver coin treasure but now I think I'm gonna build one of these for my display and actual security toa point. Thanks for the vid man!
Very nice. I made a round top chest for my girl friend. I enjoy doing all the engraving with a router attachment on my dremel. I printout on paper my design then use clear packing tape across the whole design. then use a ball point pen and firmly trace it into the wood remove the paper and go over it in pencil to make it easier to see. I make my hinges out of wood. I even make wooden pad locks and keys, hasps, pegs instead of nails. In the end your project takes on a more primitive or rustic man handled look. I learned how to build a small foundry on RUclips and I'm messing around with making metal accessories for my projects. I'm finding that to be more challenging than I thought, any way that's a great chest. and the Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt is by far the best video game I've played. Happy and prosperous New Year
Who are the 353 people who didn't like this? What's not to like about someone using traditional and modern skills to make something cool? I say great job!! From one craftsman to another. Cheers!!
I haven't actually involved myself in anything "The Witcher" related, which i may have to rethink now, but I very much love this build and the craftsmanship you are capable of. This is reminiscent of the Hobbit/LOTR series or Skyrim/Oblivion theme which I am into. You just earned yourself a new subscriber and I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Still one of my favorite videos Tuesday can't wait to be able to have a workshop so that I can do this myself I've been wanting a Witcher chest forever
AMAZING 🤯❤🧡💛💚💙💜💖 I made something like this for my son so he can put his toys in, I was planning to do it all by myself but I was already stressed out on all the details and the measurements that I just let my husband paint it I didn't even care what color he chose I just wanted to go to sleep 😂
Great Work! I love your toys. I made a chest for my son when he was younger and the decoration was beating it with a chain, running a rip saw across it and some drumming with round sticks. Of course that was done before cutting the top off for the lid. After lots of sanding, I used a walnut stain and spray lacquer. It turned out great. I would like to see this chest made with a vintage look. The designs would be amazing aged .
So much talent. It's a great way to revive history and appreciate the older generations giftings by recreating with various materials. I love seeing the abilities others have to show in a creative productive way. The ability to make individual creations is talent that can help inspire others not just in making but appreciating history on a whole new level.
So beautiful! I would like to say, though, that when using runes, you never use double letters, so for example the word "letters" you would write as "leters".
This is freaking amazing! My son is a huge fan of The Witcher, and I will be making him one of these for a gift. Thank you so much for sharing the artwork! And for documenting your process. Excellent work.
wicked build dude! Some awesome skill in the build and in the video production. Must have taken a while to do! I see you're putting your laser to good use. I'm still struggling to commit to getting one but I think I should just bite the bullet and do it haha. Keep it up!
Awesome work. The mix of powered and hand tool use is right up my ally. I have traditionally used hardboard as my bench coverings. Since watching this vid I picked up a sheet of white coat hardboard so I could see what the hell I was doing. You have given me the kick in the pants to do more stuff like this. Please keep them coming
"Hi RUclips, here's a way to make a cool witcher's chest. All you need is some wood, screws, glue, and your $3,000 laser cutting machine...Let's get started!"
Outstanding !! I love the fact that you say "it wasn't perfect but it was close enough". Most people always try to make things perfect BUT the reality is something usually is just a little bit off. It proves that although you are a master craftsman, you are an honest person as well. Thanks for a fantastic video and a fabulous project. 👍🏼
I love this and I want to make one my self. all I need is the tools that I still do not have. By the way you made one big mistake ,never use nails in a piece of furniture that is made of wood always use either wooden pegs or wood screws because in furniture nails will at some point rip the wood apart and then it will have to be fixed or even that part taken out and replaced. Where as wooden pegs ( which are the best to use ) or wood screws ( only if you must use them ) will last a life time and beyond . So if you wish you can hand it down to your children when the time comes. Thank you for the video
Really? Nails have been used in furniture for thousands of years. You have no idea what you are talking about, nails do not rip wood apart. Hell you don't even have any tools so how can you know...???
I am a carpenter w/ 46 years experience. I use nails making furniture. nothing I have ever made needed repair due to construction even many years later.
By far the greatest project ever shown on YT. Jason from Epic UpCycling comes close but omg, this was truly fantastic. I will definitely try this myself (minus the engravings, cos, unfortunately, I don't have a laser-cutter) Thanks for sharing this!
Awsom Build I've always had a thing for Steamer type trunks and this is just over the top with fictional element it is great. Will definatly try my hand at building one for myself. As I don't have an ingraver I will do the art work by hand
First of all, I have to say that this is an incredible build and I am in absolute awe of your carpentry skills. I tried to do something like this a number of years ago and it came out looking like crap; however... by watching this video, I've figured out where I went wrong, so thank you for that!
Nicely done! Dovetailing and joinery by hand is labor intensive and you did a great job! The one detail I would have done differently would have been to cut off the round heads of the nails prior to hammering them in as square nails give the chest a much more "antique" look (and since the pieces are glued anyway it's not critical for the nails to hold everything in place)
I know nothing about the witcher, but what i do know is that the chest you built is awsome! Great work. RUclips actually recommend a great video. A like, a 👍 and a subscription all in one go.
That came out awesome. In the future, when you cut out the square holes and joints... Make the outsides of the holes a slight bit bigger, tapering in. In the same direction that you taper the square holes, cut a thin slot in the square pins. Now you can hammer a "wedge" into the slot to expand the square pins to fill the expanded square holes. That secures them in place and makes it impossible for the square pegs to pull-out. (The same thing they do to a hammer or an axe, to secure the head onto a handle.) If you watch the video where you hammer the leather strap onto the side, you can see the side pop off the square pins, which you had glued into place. If they were wedge-fastened, that wall would not have budged when you hammered against it. In your case, since it is just to support the shelf, it isn't a big problem. However, it would have given you additional support the the dove-tail joints would not offer, in that width-wise direction. P.S. Leaving the joints protruding was a good idea. Besides looking cool, it also explains why there is no artwork on them. If they were flush, it would look like it was an afterthought to the art, as the artwork would be expected to also have been "burned" over those flat spots too.
WELL DONE FROM CALIFORNIA GREAT PROJECTS NOTED YOU FILLED THE BOX WITH SOME BOTTLES COBRA VENOM AND EYE OF NEWT AND MAYBE OTHER STUFF WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR FINAL DISPLAY. LOVE SOME OF THE REAL NICE VAMPIRE KILLING KITS
Great! Now I have a place for all those leather books NerdForge and Dark Horse Workshop taught me how to make.
Love nerdForge! Not heard of Dark Horse Workshop, new RUclipsr to check out!
I came here directly from nerdforge lmao
Cas Smith XD Nerdforge is awesome.
Nerdforge are to blame for my tome collection, Dark horse is for therapy.
I had never heard of nerdforge before but just the name had me clicking to find it so fast. thank you lol

Those irregular oldschool-looking nails were like cherry on the cake.
You can buy nails like that at most woodworking supply stores or shops. Theyre called cut nails.
What impressed me most about this build is it's all reclaimed wood. You turned someone else's trash into a work of art.

I enjoy doing wood projects, but this makes me feel like the kid in the back row that eats crayons. Beautiful project and extraordinary video!
Crayons are tasty...

So many nice handmade touches. The elliptical curve, the hand-fitted slats, the nails. I can see this becoming a family heirloom.

Beautiful work and great carpentry. You can see the difference real craftmanship makes!
The laser engraving was the way to go. Beautiful!
you should make more and sell them ,,especially now the series is out ,, fantastic workmanship btw.
I’m a self confessed RUclips junkie! This is a stunning piece of craftsmanship! So impressive. I’d love a little roman war chest for my son Roman’s baby memories. 👍🏻
Absolutely stunning!! You and Nerdforge need to do a collab!!

YES AND YES
Great work. That chest is pretty bad ass. A trick I sometimes use for silver screws is to dab a little cold gun blue on them. It gives them a nice color without any thickness.
It was a really cool video, the thing I most appreciate is you actually talkin and describing what you were doing and how you did it
I hope you signed it somewhere, an artist needs to sign their work and you truly are an artist. That box is amazing.
Очень красивый сундук! Молодец!
Gotta be honest, that is bloody awesome! Just as awesome is seeing traditional joinery techniques, it's starting to become a lost art.
This is THE coolest build I've ever seen. This is freaking amazing.
It never even occurred to me you could cut dovetails on a tablesaw like that!! Very nice!
Wow, amazing job on this build! Excellent use of traditional & modern woodworking techniques, plus great design & artwork!
Never thought I'd say this to a guy but nice box man! I'm a treasure hunter and I have a small version minus the etching for displaying my 156 silver coin treasure but now I think I'm gonna build one of these for my display and actual security toa point. Thanks for the vid man!

Thanks Scott!
This is exactly what I want to do with my life, building unique intricate stuff like this, its a functional piece of art. Awesome job done.

Absolutely awesome build - love the details, the joinery choices, and the old fashioned nails. Perfect!
Rimu! Very nice! Good work salvaging that timber in the first place!
Love it! Leaving the dovetails longer is great because it shows of the skill that went into the build. Never stop creating!

Who are the 63 down voting A holes? I can see nothing he did wrong! Very talented woodworker! Great job!
killi mimes probably just people who dislike out of jealousy.
I like that you shared your art. The build is great, but kindness is better!
Thank you for recommending this, RUclips. New sub because that's just gorgeous!
I watched this entire thing with my mouth open in awe. The chest, the video, the man are all gorgeous. Thoroughly impressed.

That wood with that finish is just beautiful
"Hi RUclips, here's a way to make a cool witcher's chest. All you need is some wood, screws, glue, and your $3,000 laser cutting machine...Let's get started!"
It wont look the same but you make a stencil and get a wood burning tool (about 20$) you can do some similar designs
