- The wonderful people at @Ibanez Guitar have sent me this lovely AZ to play. I love my AZ2204B BK Prestige, but I've been missing the 24 frets. Here is a 'first impressions' video and the first couple of notes I've ever played on this guitar.

Best guitar model ever. Lives up to the concept of covering all genres from A to Z
I own quite a few guitars. Expensive ones. The AZ is pretty much the one I pickup to play everyday. It is such an evolution and joy to play. It just feels right.

You guys have tuning stability issues? I love mine too but for the price I was hoping it wouldn’t pull as sharp as it does sometimes. Tried getting it setup several times
@@TylerSmithMusic1 I have very slight tuning issues on my premium 226 Az but it’s nothing compared to when I owned a strat and a Jaguar.

I picked up the southpaw version this week, it’s a beautiful guitar. Im starting my guitar journey after playing for a year back in college, now 25+yrs later at 45 and I’m looking forward to my journey with this amazing instrument.

People usually come for the tones on guitar reviews, but me i prefer the talking mixed with playing especially here with Jack's amazing touch on the instrument and his deep calming voice.

I’m all for a neck single coil, but the AZ line is killer
I could listen to you play all day, Jack, literally. While I’m trying to learn along with your Modern Fusion course I find myself spacing out at your uncanny but beautiful melodies.
I’d like to request a lesson based on the descending lick you played at 3:27 with the hybrid picking and descending slides. Those always sound so cool.
And yes, that guitar “is lovely” (13:22). Would also love to see a lesson on how you come up with these jazzy voice leading/comping chords.
Lastly, loved the groovy tune at 9:42.

I sold my Suhr modern and bought the AZ, best decision ever. The neck at first is a bit awkward, then you get used to it and feels amazing

Again... stopped after 1:50 already... :D Just to give you an appropriate 2402-bro-fist! :D Nowadays, people just demo the 7-string version or similar, but this guitar is pure gold! I know it, cause I own it since 1,5 years. The sound on the neck humbucker in the beginning alone is so good in this video! On to the video... ;)
The exact same guitar i got a few days ago, and it's the best guitar i've ever played. Initially i wanted to swap the PUs to DiMarzio Gravity Storms, but trying out the Hyperions, i gotta say, i'm definitely keeping them, at least for now. No sh*t, i can't stop playing this guitar, it's wonderful...

I want the to buy the 7 string of this its my first 7 string the versatility is what's selling me, a strandberg is the only thing I'm on the fence about purely for comfort
Jack, I don't mind the missed Friday lessons, 'cause this video has so much input, so many interesting lines to dig into. I love your playing and the tone is gorgeous! I prefer the 2402, due to optical reasons, but I would like to have a dark neck. And what's more: I have to dig into your Neural DSP setup, because I'm missing the FX pedals in the Fortin Cali. Guess I can add the Cory Wong pedals? I'll give it a try. What an inspiration! I have to grab my guitar!!!
Thanks so much Tom! Means a lot man. I totally get that. Haha - the neck on this one is a beauty! Ahh yes - with the Fortin Cali, there’s no in built effects. What I do is put the Abasi on with everything bypassed except the Reverb and Delay. You could totally do the same thing with Cory Wong!
@@JackGardiner Thx a lot! I still heard the dry signal through the Cory, though everything but the FX was bypassed. But! I made good effort by buying the GuitarPerformer via PluginAlliance and it works well now. Those Neural DSP's are killer tones (and they are a CPU killer as well, even on my well made DAW and the MOTU Hybrid soundcard). :)

I just came here to hearing you improvising, i love it so much and that part of isnt she lovely its beautiful, i wanted to ask you jack if you know what song its this one that you played in some kind of guitar camp its seems in spain ,because has been years that i found it and have played it learning all the song , but i cant find the backingtrack or the name itselft. Hi Jack, question for you if you have a moment. Firstly, I really admire your playing. It's obvious that you have put your time in the woodshed. I've spent a lot of hours watching your videos and I'm always blown away by your note choice and technical ability. Your playing is incredibly expressive and musical. I'm days away from pulling the trigger on an AZ. Finding one though, that's another matter. I was hoping to get the AZ2204 but they aren't available anywhere and lead times are like a year :( I have found a good price on an AZ2202A and an AZ2402 both in TFB and I'm trying to decide which to go with. I'm leaning towards the 22 fret version thinking that it might get closer to that S sound in the neck pickup than the 24 fret version. I've also been a strat guy. I really prefer single coils and alder or ash but I've heard a few sound samples from the 2202 that are in that ballpark. It's own thing but still articulate, clear and sparkly. What are your thoughts? Cheers mate!!
I have both guitars - 2204 definitely nails that single coil neck sound far better than the 2402

What are the other locking tuners you're using that you mentioned? I have this 2402 and I feel the same way, not a fan of the mechanics and I'd LOVE to switch them out!
I recently got an AZ and love it, however I can't seem to get great clean tapped tones out of it like you and other folks I've seen. Is it the amp/sim you're using that's probably the difference?

Absolutley love these AZ series. How do they actually compare to say, something like a Suhr?
Suhrs are amazing, but AZ’s can easily compete. At the end is a matter of preference. In my opinion Ibanez playability in their instruments are second to none. And offers the most for the price you are paying every single time. Besides, you can always install suhr pickups in an AZ.
Ibanez is the ultimate zoomer guitar

Hey Jack, I'm not sure if you already answered this question or not because I just bought a Ibanez MM1 which is basically the same guitar with different wood and I want to change the tuners, what would you recommend? I was looking at Graph Tech PRL-8721 Co Ratio however I'm definitely open to suggestions, Thanks, Dave

Hey Jack! Big time fan here from India. I am utterly confused between these two 2204b and 2402. Which one should I buy? I enjoy the split tones a bit less on the 2402 and that single coil neck pickup on 2204 is just silk. But please please give me a head up which one to buy. Right now can afford only one.

What scale are you playing? Candy to the ears.
Not sure why you get so confused over the model numbers. The AZ with 24 frets, 6 screws on the backplate, 2 trem arms, 3% cheaper than the previous model built in 24 is simply the AZ2462324, now just add L or R for left and right, 3 letters for the colour, an S if it's shaped like a telecaster an E if it's a cheaper version to get the AZS246342R-SFG, AZE246342L-CKB and the AZ246342R-MNB.
I am really thinking about buying this guitar. But I have read online and also saw reviews that talks about tuning instability and usage of whammy bar causing tuning issues. So, i am really afraid of going with this one and instead considering the prestige 5320csw. Can someone share how bad are the tuning and whammy bar issues on this az model.
I've owned a few premium and prestige AZ's. Never had a single tuning issue and I use the trem. Just invest in some nut sauce
Hi Jack, you always have beautiful high frequencies and defenition in that range. Do you use particular trick to achieve crispness? I mean Except eq and crunchy settings...
Hey man! Thanks so much! I think it’s just in the EQ of the Fortin Cali Suite - there’s no extra EQ going on in my chain/master bus. I really love British/Marshall-esque tones that allow all of the pick attack dynamics to come through and I’m not so afraid of the sometimes nasty high frequencies (maybe I should be sometimes 😅).

I have one of these. Great machine. Do you miss the 2 and 4 positions? I miss them
They’re a powerhouse for sure! I think I’m favouring an SSH set up these days, but these split positions sound different in a good way! Feels like they have more pop to them!

What happened to the Ibanez 2402 you still use it not on your videos

They’re both wicked! It’s weird, I prefer 24-frets for visualisation, but I think I just prefer the sound of HSS! Both get played a ton, but the HSS just feels more like ‘home’ for videos! 🙏
