    Thanks! I’m 56 and only started in 2019 but had to stop for 2 years due to the lockdowns.
    Recently started back up in the gym this year but forgot I had resistance bands in the cupboards. Tried just two of the six exercises at home and I can really feel the delts. Working on the face pulls right now.

    Amazing stuff! All your videos are so well done and very useful. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. Have you ever used any of these custom meal plan tools? I got one from Next Level Diet to help me add some muscle and I actually like their plans. Was just wondering if you've heard of or tried any of them yourself. Thank you!

    I started 2 weeks ago, my weights were delivered today, I started with the 100 press ups challenge, today for example, I did 17 times 5 press ups with some other exercises. I am 69 and a skinny fat at the moment, due to being a driven person I had a decease that caused my colon to be cut out when I was 25 and now have what is called a "Parke's pouch" in it's place. I retired when I was 63 and because I am an Artisan that was doing a lot of heavy work like carrying a 200lbs motor up some rickety stairs and fitting it, I never did any exercise or very little and found out that I lost a lot of my strength, now I will get it back and maybe a bit more. I totally understand that your movement has to be precise as I did Judo (1st Dan) and Karate (3rd Dan) from long ago, till recently.

    Mark........one good thing to point out with the overhead dumbbells presses is to go through the full range of motion.....controlling the weight down to ear level or below before pressing back up. I noticed that you do it correctly, but it is worth mentioning in a future video. I got my first weight bench and barbell set when I was around 9. Have used free weights/machines ever since and at 66, am happy that I had made that choice thanks to a bully back in grade school.

    I'm 49 and my shoulders (left one esp.) are pretty effed. My back is a constant concern, too. This limits what shoulder and back excercises I can do. So I'm constantly looking for ones that I can perform consistently and not wreck my joints. I only have dumbbells and a bench, too. I can't even do bent over rows for too long without getting painful clicking in my left shoulder and I blew out my lower back doing standing shoulder presses last year.
    But I might try sitting shoulder presses as that might take some of the pressure off my back. So thanks for showing me that. I might try lower weight this time. Better to do them at lower weight than hurt myself and not be able to do them at all.

    Good stuff, but there is nothing wrong with using heavy weight, and momentum to push the muscle. Every national body builder uses extreme weight,momentum and "cheating" if you wanna call it,and pausing on the negative on the way back down. Ofcourse @ our old age, this can lead to tendonitis and or injury. But once ion a while,when i'm feeling loose, which is not often enough, i'll push the envelope and challenge the muscle with extra weight. I do this because I am a bowhunter who hunts with a 80 pound compound bow and need to extra challenge to maintain strength.
    All of us doing different things. Most of us are golfers. So you work it for golf. I'm not a golfer. lol
    Archery has really destroyed me over the years. Recently I have found the key to my shoulder health. Incline bench pressing would kill me. Shoulders presses would kill me. even biceps curls destroyed my shoulder where the long and short head tie onto the shoulder. My new found key ? WARMING UP !!!! I get a shit ton of blood into the shoulder joint before I handle any kind of real weight. I take 2.5 pound plates, and spin rotate them in circles forwards and backwards. Then rotator elbow bends,then back to rotations until I feel the shoulder getting exhausted and blood gathering up in there. Put the weight down. Then walk to do a shoulder/bicep stretch for each arm. Then I can do weights, without an issue. Works like MONEY now !

    • @roadstar499
      @roadstar499 2 года назад

      Not every bodybuilder trains using momentum...I been at this 50 plus years and have trained every way during my years...what he is explaining is the best for great gains and less chance of injuries...

    • @michaelrosa5410
      @michaelrosa5410 2 года назад +1

      @@roadstar499 Like I said, Tendonitis and injury @ our age we are more prone. But when the times is right, the body feeling good, the pre workout kicking in nice, i'm going to hit a bit more weight, and if I cheat a bit ? So be it. Yesterday was one such day I went heavier than normal. Next time,I will go lighter and more reps. I used 16 and 12 reps. Next time 20-12 reps. Mixing up a routine as an experienced gym guy you knows works best.
      I agree 100% as a poster child for tendonitis and injuries, being cautious rules the day without question. Some days, I WILL push the envelope. I'm 64 and shoot a 80 pound compound bow,and never taken a steroid in my life,nor TRT garbage. I barely will take a aspirin.

      @@michaelrosa5410 i get it..i am your age and started exercising at around 7 ..of coarse i just did pushups ,pull ups etc..even in high school i did not know shit..really made my serious gain from 18 -30 ...at almost 64 i still am learning...its okay to cheat .we all do it... But injuries can happen at any age.,not just us old guys..we are all different...
