Your support is really appreciated. Thank you very much, Tom
It's my very first RC model of a beautiful little Sopwith Camel in scale 1/24 from Microaces. The material is very light weight and printed with authentic decor - almost like a plastic model kit.
I'd like to thank my friend Stefan Schacht for bringing my little camel to life on its first maiden flight.

Wait it’s not a model but a RC plane?….I’m blown away!
@@jeffleduc1398 RC planes are models :)
You will never stop surprising us :)
I'm pleased to hear 😊
Agreed - surprising and amazing us.
Super
Extremely high production values and content.
What I liked the most about the video was the landscape and the weather to enjoy flying the small plane, I just know how to fly a Real one, congratulations.
Love these stop motion builds, your a very patient and talented man, I applaud you!
Thank you very much 😊
I love that they made the rotary engine spin with the propeller. Great attention to detail and wonderful craftsmanship, thank you for sharing.
I'm glad you like it
Always a blast to see your creations Tom, keep doing what you do. Love from Sweden.
I'm happy to hear you like my little experiments
Such a super fun build, never fail to inspire. Film and music perfect combination
Wonderful. I have built just about all of Jon's Microaces kits and always hoped you would do a build for them. You really got the feel of building one of these up to the static display. I have got to get some of those pilot figures now! I guess installing the RC gear is a bit too fiddly to video but these kits are definitely engineered to be flown as you have here. The flight segment was really well shot too. Bravo!
Regarding the flight handling I would say the little Sopwith Camel is one of the more challenging to trim out. Mine benefited from a bit of extra weight in the nose and it flies with quite a bit of down elevator trim. But fly they do! As you can see all that trimming is not absolutely necessary. Dawn patrols (or in the setting sun) in calm weather are always a beautiful sight.
Fortunately a good friend of mine controlled the flight. For me it would have been too tricky 😅
Indeed you can see in the flight that the point of gravity is to much to the back..... but as you already mention some weigh in the front will make the flight of this beautiful plane more realistic and easier. 😉
I have massive respect for your skill and expertise in that build. You make it look a lot easier than it is. A true craftsman.
Thank you very much 😊
What an amazing video. And it actually flies!!!
Thank - it does 😅
Thanks Tom, this is fantastic! I have about 10 MIcroaces kits, but so far I’ve only built and flown the SE-5a, and the DH-2. Both have flown many times, and look just like the day they were finished, 2+ years ago! Been a Fan of this YT channel for years, awesome work! 😉👊
Thanks - I'm pleased to hear 😊
The SE5 is my favorite, back in the early 1960's I had a control line model of one that my dad built and I was playing with it in our front yard, I could not have been more than 6 of 7 at the time and an old guy that lived a couple of blocks from us that walked by our house just about everyday saw me with it and stoped and said that he flew the SE5 in WWI he told me that it was a pleasure to fly and that it was one of the best airplanes that he had ever flown. I told my dad and the next time the old guy came be my dad went out to talk to him and they must have talked for over an hour. They would talk just aboult every time the old guy would walk by. I wish I could talk to the old guy now I am sure he would have some good storeys to tell.
@@onmyworkbench7000 😉 Thanks for sharing that story. Awesome! That being said, if your a fan of early military aircraft, these kits are very nice. It’s fun to work with different materials and construction techniques.
One of the best YT channels out there.
I really like the detailing you did on the pilot and his leather jacket.
Plus the flying at the end was thrilling!
Thanks - I'm glad you like it 😊
Is there anything thing this chap can't do? I reckon if you needed a hip replacement he'd sort you out. Fantastic as ever
😅
This one of those videos that makes me smile. Not enough attention is paid to that era of flight by modelers. Thank you!
Beautifully done, very enjoyable to watch.
I'm happy to hear 😊
Beautiful piece of art - and it flies too!
Thank you very much 😊
Brilliant!!!
Well done
Congratulations on your 100k! At last you are getting a little of the recognition you deserve. Another string to your bow.... RC flying! And you waited for the perfect sky too. All beautiful, thank you.
Tom, I think you are one of the great entertainers of RUclips. You are a great modeller, artist, animator, stop motion creator, film recorder, film editor etc etc. I love it when I see a TOMs Modelling in Motion video appear in my RUclips recommendations. I always enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one.
I'm really happy to hear that. Thank you very much and I hope you like my next videos as well.
Super video Tom thank you for sharing it.
You're welcome
Something delightfully mesmerising in your videos. And that sky! made to order...
I'm pleased to hear you like it 😊
Thanks for sharing and all the hard film work. I have three Microaces models to build. Very helpful!
I'm pleased to hear 😊 thanks a lot
Amazing done. I never heard of this company before! Perfect build, perfect flying. Only windscreen could be clear, for even better realistic. All the best for You! ;)
Thank you - you're absolutely right. Windscreen could have been modelled out of clear material. I didn't know how a different material would have disturbed the balance. So I stuck to the kits material only...
@@TomGrigat I understood. ;)
... and it flies!! Amazing work!! :)
Simply…Wonderful!
Enjoyed the build video very much. It did look like it was dragging its tail a bit in flight - touch tail heavy perhaps?
Outstanding, loved watching the flight video, looked like so much fun!
Wow, just wow...
Unbelievably cool 😎
Thanks
Just the animation work was well worth watching, the fact that it then actually flew was impressive!
Very impressive, especially for a kit that is mostly card(?)
Very thin foam with printing on it
Hey Matt fancy seeing you here
The country side reminds me of when I was stationed in Germany, specifically the Schwabisch Gmund/Mutlangen area. Great video.
Outstanding!🤗
Great animation! I expected Wallace and Grommet to appear any minute.
Thank you - that would have been an interesting twist 🤩
Wow beautiful rc scale biplane, congratulations again.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you
Pleasant surprise Tom.
Enjoyed that thank you!
Thanks - you're welcome 😊
Engineering, artistic, and presentation genius all in one package from an amazing builder and creator. Great work Tom! And my favorite genre of models--aircraft from the Great War! What a wonderful video!
I'm glad you like it 😊. Thank you
great model - great build
Awesome build.
Thank you 😊
What a delightful little model.
Always a joy to watch you buiding, filming and this time flying as well.
I work in a steel forge in Lincoln where they used to make them. It`s called Bifrangi now.
Tail heavy? Beautiful non the less!
Fantastic!
So much fun to watch!
Beautiful 👍
Nicely done!
Really enjoy your style of stop motion edits. Thanks!
Great to see you back in top form, taking what looks like a foam model and finishing it as exactingly as your plastic ones. And it flies! Wonderful stuff, as always.
I'm pleased to hear you like it 😊
Excellent
Beautiful job as always Tom!
What a super cool little kit. Love the animation and it flies great!
absoulutly cool.
Beautiful
I love this so much.
lovely kit and build
I especially like that you are flying it in a scale-like manner. Really well done! -Dan
Amazing!
Artık hiç şaşırmıyorum.. Harika olmuş
Amazing, awesome, really nicely done and flown.
Really Nice work !!
Excellent sir.
Chose this as the first video to watch on a new large monitor I set up this morning. It didn't disappoint, watching your builds are balm for my mind.
Absolute awesome vid.!!!
Thank you
Lovely👍
Превосходно!
As a certain couple of Slovenian brothers would say - the plane is "nose light"...LOL
But you sure piqued my interest in this brand, I will check them out, thanks :)
But "slow and sexy"!
@@stone8597 🤣🤣🤣 but vat to say at de end...
I've built a couple of] these. Great detail, a bit fiddley to assemble, and not the best flyers.... but that's scale for you. Especially WWI scale.
That was sweet what a great looking model, nice job, I love it.
Thank you
Nice Tom!! Lovely little tail turner.
From the looks of things, you could probably nudge your C of G a hair forward. You can add a click of elevator trim if needed. Your altitude changes will go a lot smoother.
Thanks for the hint - a friend of mine with lot of RC experience helped me out with the controls. I'll inform him about.
Incrível! Ficou perfeito! Muito bonito! 🌟👏
Excelente, perfeito, parabéns 👏👏
Great project 🏅
Excellent...
For a little shake and bake biplane looks great and the pilot too. Fantastic..😎👍🍻
Thank you very much 😊
Once again, a masterpiece, Tom!! : )
Great model again Tom I especially liked that stop motion part at the end that actually made it look like it was flying😉 lol. It's been great to watch your videos again Tom best wishes from NZ.😉
I'm glad you like it 😊
Hah, that is really cool. And it flies too 😘
Looks like a handful to fly. Just like the real Camel supposedly...
So coooooool!
Wow Tom that was great.... (I missed the RC bit in the title)...I would have made loads of these when I was younger..... When I was a kid I used to get my pocket money on a Saturday and go into town and buy an Airfix kit...... Make it in a hour or two and splash some paint on the outside....No point doing to much detail on the inside as no body would see it....I have seen some of your serious videos that must take days to film, where you spend hours on the details inside the model that will never be seen....Why?? I made a Model of a Mercedes 350 SL Gullwing... I spent a lot of time on the Chassis and Engine then put a Body on it...And it hid all the great work I had done... So I made more Motorbikes because you could see all the details...What are you thoughts..... Big fan as you know.... :-)))
I think it's the major problem of our hobby. We're investing lot of time in detailing just because we like the origin background, the technique and eventually hide everything under a surface so nobody can see it any longer. But we as creators know. I think it's the process that counts and the fun of building. The video documentation is the chance to prevent the details from hiding at last. My personal way to let it still be seen what is hidden...
Thanks for your hint regarding the headline. I'll change it. Best regards, Tom
@@TomGrigat Thanks for taking time to reply Tom.... I think the title got lost in my excitement to watch your latest Video.....It is the Joy of what we do that makes the details Important... Cheers :-))
Built this when it was made by Reveille. Listened to this when they were top 40 spitting such tender bullets as "Hello, hello".
cool!
nice thank you
Great
Looks like a handful to fly.
Yeah, quite twitchy and perhaps a bit tail heavy
It feels like winding a pearl necklace ... round a boomerang .. to throw it from a cliff . well, you drove it home and the whole affair is amazing to watch :)
It also looked to windy, the Camel didn't like flying downwind. Beautiful bit of gear though.
I like it.
😘 thanks my friend
I would love a kit like this as a Gloster gladiator
Thank You
#OfTheEpic 🤙🏼🍻🍿
Awsome build and video as usual. But it flies like a drunken seagull.
Wooooow!
I thought Sopwith Camels were more doghouse shaped.
😂
That plane was so unstable in the air, I thought you might have crashed it. I hope you can get the W&B figured out and get her back flying again.
Very good looking tiny plane (except I would color white edges). But too small for a bit realistic flying.
The plane only has an aileron and rudder control servo setup
You built a very nice model from a unique and clever kit. However, for many aerodynamic reasons, the smaller the R/C model the more difficult it and twitchy it will be to fly, with very few exceptions. Small R/C models seem to flit around like mosquitoes at hyper speed and, at least for me, are therefore very unsatisfying.
We may reduce the size of airplanes, but air molecules and how they act on solid surfaces remains the same.
I completely agree. Impressive kit and a nice bit of fun. But it flies like a butterfly and its totally unconvincing in the air.
(Its worrying that kits this small may end up being about the only RC planes available as regulations bite).
@@stevep4131 You may be right, but hope that doesn't happen.
I was interested in small scale R/C models for a while but soon realized that below a certain size, they just could not be made to fly, as you said, "convincingly", to say the least. I have a bunch of really nice ones, some really tiny, just sitting on a shelf now. Such a pity because they really look nice, but fly like shite.
In R/C, bigger flies better.
Flying art. Nicely done.
Question: Could you color in the white edges of the wings and tail surfaces? It is the only thing breaking visual authenticity to my old eyes.
Great video, as usual. The pilot seems a bit large for the cockpit, maybe.
Lieber Tom... hiermit DAS🎖🎖🎖🏆🏆🏆🎖🎖🎖 Was sonst ?! LIKE und Danke !!!
Das freut mich sehr 😊
Beautiful build & vid - Plane's CG balance & trim is off
