Legit have a phobia of headcrabs, always struggled with ravenholm, I'm willing to bet I'm going to piss my pants playing whatever sections are shown here.
I don't really like the glimpse we saw of him, actually. He looks off, but not in the creepy way, just in a not-quite-there way. Where's his eyes that drift off in different directions? And his hair looks like he's the protagonist of a sports anime! Other than that though, the face and suit and ears and whatnot are there. Was he always that gaunt, though?
Well seeing the beta of half life 2 really gave a great insight into just how the game was made and would have otherwise never have been seen if it weren't for the leak.

Well prequel to HL2 that is.....just as everyone thought it would be. Anyhow even as massive HL fan since 1998, Im simply not going to be VR gear just because of 1 game....no matter how good this might turn out to be. But what I AM glad about that this shows Valve is still willing to build big triple A experiences apparently....and that in return gives hope for Half-Life 3, atleast a tiny bit.

I mean I can definitely see the potential there to have the kind of unique experiences that are simply not possible with mouse/keyboard and controller....BUT the thing Im also skeptical about VR is the motion sickness....I fear that limits heavily what you can/cant do in VR game, so that imho also gives non VR games certain edge. Anyhow if the gear does get cheaper in years to come and this game turns out to be good, then for sure I'll pick it up as my first VR game.

Basically, if you caught any of the references to episode 2, it’s Alyx trying to revert what happened to her father and the Vortigaunts are a key component to that. Valve literally suggests players to finish episode 2 before playing Alyx and the interviews with Valve lead many to believe that this isn’t just a prequel. It’s set between the events of Half Life 1 and 2 for a reason. Time travel has already been discussed many times within the half life lore.
That line... "Close your eyes honey", combined with the fact that the devs said in an interview with the Verge that people should play Episode 2 before HL:Alyx for "reasons that will become clear as you progress" and that HL:Alyx is the continuation of the main story, and not a spin off... I don't want to jump the gun, but I really think there's a good chance the ending to HL:Alyx will show us what happened after the final scene in Episode 2. Either way, I couldn't be more excited right now. Best start saving!
Every Valve game pushed gaming in some direction. With HL1 it was in-game "cutscenes", HL2 it was extensive use of physics engine, Portal well it was portals, this one VR. I for one like the idea of that. They inspire tons of other games.

They easily could have made this game require their headset, like Oculus has tried to do, then I think you would be justified in making that claim. And just an FYI, I'm not a valve fan boy, I'm happy to see Epic Games give Steam some competion and I really enjoy my rift despite what I think of that company as a whole.

Do it man, what are you waiting for! It's an amazing, revolutionary game that no doubt holds up today and can run on just about any modern system, not to mention it's probably pretty cheap on Steam. I think I got all the Half Lifes for 7 dollars at one point because of a special sale, so wait for one of Steam's many major sales (Like the upcoming Holiday sale) and treat yourself to one of the most amazing puzzle/shooter games ever.
With Black Mesa's full release right around the corner, you'll be able to play the original as well in good quality (well, still looks good to me in 2019) before this sequel is out.

The game is compatible with most existing VR headsets (including Oculus and Windows Mixed Reality), and not just Valve's VR headsets. The Rift S is for 400 dollars, the Quest is also for 400 and can now be linked to PC using the Oculus Link ( you will be able to play it on both according to the game's steam page as Valve cares not for hardware exclusivity). All the first WMR headsets sell for between 200 and 300 dollars. The only ones that are +1000 are a high-end handful: Valve Index, Vive Pro, Vive Pro Eye and Pimax. The Samsung Odyssey offers an excellent experience and sells for 500 dollars.

It dosent take much to run vr my old 4gb rx480 and i56500 was more then enough to run all the vr games I play without any frame drops. Those games were fallout 4, skyrim, pavlov, onward, project cars 1/2 and asseto corsa contractors
Well I have a decent PC, and I already own the Valve index headset, which means I get the game for free, so ... yeah ... no costs at all if I don't want to. It's free! But ... tempted to upgrade my graphics card now. I'd really feel bad for playing this on lowest settings.
If everything goes well for this game it is only a matter of time that other companies want to do the same with their games and do them in VR, if half life alyx achieves that then it will have revolutionized once again the field of video games.

Half Life 2 is INFINITELY better than any dumbed down FPS that you can play today but for the graphics.
Game is like six hours long if you take your time and a good third of that is cutscenes. You can beat it in a day.

And what's the problem? Valve made their own headset it's only fair they want to push it. Stop complaining and actually try VR. Now if you have other problems that are not the price please ask I can help you with that.

The game is compatible with most existing VR headsets (including Oculus and Windows Mixed Reality), and not just Valve's VR headsets. The Rift S is for 400 dollars, the Quest is also for 400 and can now be linked to PC using the Oculus Link ( you will be able to play it on both according to the game's steam page as Valve cares not for hardware exclusivity). All the first WMR headsets sell for between 200 and 300 dollars. The only ones that are +1000 are a high-end handful: Valve Index, Vive Pro, Vive Pro Eye and Pimax. The Samsung Odyssey offers an excellent experience and sells for 500 dollars.

I love how the soldiers' radio chat still sound as unintelligible as they were in Half-Life 1 even to this day.

It dosent take much to run vr my old 4gb rx480 and i56500 was more then enough to run all the vr games I play without any frame drops. Those games were fallout 4, skyrim, pavlov, onward, project cars 1/2 and asseto corsa contractors

Well I have a decent PC, and I already own the Valve index headset, which means I get the game for free, so ... yeah ... no costs at all if I don't want to. It's free! But ... tempted to upgrade my graphics card now. I'd really feel bad for playing this on lowest settings.

If everything goes well for this game it is only a matter of time that other companies want to do the same with their games and do them in VR, if half life alyx achieves that then it will have revolutionized once again the field of video games.
