The DISRESPECT to my mans Alfred. “Isn’t he just the butler”
The former spy without a code against killing. An absolute UNIT of a man. Alfred is the baddest of asses
I'm not super into comics but that's awesome if alfred was a killer spy
@@Nekomania He was, they just never transferred that over to the movies because Warner Brothers only makes these things based on surface level information. Anything past "look, it's this person" and they're out.
@@harleyjackson3708 and they can't stick to a story without constant rebooting everything
Just imagine how much more could be built if the tas universe kept going with more series and movies to expand the world
@@Nekomania I suggest you watch The Animated Series. Some episodes allude to his covert past & skills. AND there was a TV show of his won like 4 years ago called Pennyworth where the commercials showed he was a British secret agent.
Alfred isn't "just the butler"! He was a trained military veteran and actor!
I love how much Dan always sounds like he just left an underground vault he spent the past 30 years in.
"Batgirl is Gordon's daughter."
"Is that right? Wow."
@IsmGameGrumps BOT.
Blast from the past lol
Is that really a blast from the past?
@@rm2kking Hahaha nah! its an amazing movie from 99 where that is the premise, our sweet man Brendan Fraser is the main. (edited to add year
I almost got really mad about "Isn't he just the butler, how does he know all this?"
RIP Kevin Conroy, he was vengeance, he was the night, he was Batman. This was the first game I ever played, and I have such fond memories of my dad and I sitting on the couch playing this game, and watching the show. Love that you are playing this!
Arin -“so is Batman bulletproof?”
Also Arin minutes earlier as Batman - “well I have this bulletproof outfit, so…”
It is amazing that, per a comment section full of comments such as yours, GameGrumps has managed to sustain themselves entirely on a fanbase of whiners who simultaneously crave these guys to talk at them nonstop with no dead air and still get angry when they pay more attention to talking at their viewers than to a mediocre video game
@@MegaZeta no one said any of that or even whined. You sound a little whiny though
@@MegaZeta quit your bitchin
Our sweet Danny boy starting this video off with “So Bruce Wayne was walking with his parents…” Goodness.
Also still miss Kevin Conroy. Will always be my Batman.
he was only 66 too. RIP
I found out about his passing and the entire day I was on and off crying. He was my greatest role model as a kid.
I loved hearing ally laughing in the background of that because I thought it was so funny
He will always be THE Batman
@@hyp3ri6n58 *allie
Title and thumbnail exude rage, and yet Arin is so serene in this video
Yeah, what a garbage title. Very unimpressed.
It also implies this is being played on a PS2 but when it was explaining controls, its clearly a Gamecube controller.
I thought the same thing. I loved this game as a kid, and still love it. Read the title and angrily anticipated the worst, but then it never came lol. Seems like they just needed a click bait title.
@@nut3251 Also expected a bad game, but looks pretty solid? Decent for the era.
You mean you weren’t expecting clickbait from this channel?
Kinda miss this era of games when they were trying to emulate art style of a show they were making into a game, this game looks rather good, I think. With modern technologies it could look absolutely stellar. The game itself didn't age as gracefuly as it's presentation, it seems.
Before the Arkham games, this was notoriously the only kind of good Batman game. It’s not bad!
"Who's Mary?"
Despite a decade of precedence, it still astounds me just how little Arin pays attention to what he's doing. lol
To be honest, there is actually not a bad reason for this now that I think about it. Much of Game Grumps is these two guys just shooting the shit, which just leads to them paying more attention to each other than the game. Comes with its pros and cons
I know this is an old comment, but he clarifies right after that he means like "who is Mary to Batman?" which I don't think is clarified.
Dan asking 'Do you think Batman gets chafey?' reminds me of in Into the Spiderverse when Miles asks Peter for Spider-Man advice and one of words of wisdom is "You're gonna wanna use baby powder in the suit, heaver on the joints. You don't want any chafing, right?"
@@deimoskaischylos I guess chaifng isn't so much injury it's just irritation which the healing factor might not do as much abt
Feel like Batman would have done sorta device to prevent chafing
@Tristan Bryan it exists, it's called baby powder, no need to reinvent the wheel here
I love how it says “ps2 games”. When the game said “the R button” I immediately thought….wait doesn’t ps2 have two R buttons? Flash forward to Alfred’s training where they clearly show a GameCube controller in the top right 😂
Yeah because this game is so good that they’re just going to play game cube games instead now, right?
Maybe…?
It's on a pc emulator
Alfred: Use your martial arts. Your fists. Hit the thing with your fists.
Arin: (throws batarangs)
I feel like Arin has gotten to the point of paying no attention whatsoever to the games he's playing recently. Like at the end of the video when he was surprised that The Joker had Mary's son when there was literally just a conversation about The Joker having Mary's son
We know he takes mind altering drugs, maybe he was or wasn't taking them during this playthrough?
Thought arin stopped smoking weed?
@@MrPoltergeist101 I notice a lot of people who even just used to smoke seem a tad dull
I've mastered the art of the 'rang
I love that this game has the title cards just like in the animated series. The artwork for each is fantastic.
Arin's little communicator mix up is just another example of why eyewitness testimony is essentially useless.
@@deimoskaischylos My best friend still takes credit for a prank call we made to Wal-Mart twenty years ago. He tells it like he did the character and everything. It was ME, Chris! Goddamn you it was ME making the call! You were just standing there laughing. He did some good prank calls other times though.
Recordings are the supreme eye-witness.
Him explaining Nintendo's "Wigger Wednesday" tweet and getting ever single detail wrong is also a good example of this
Don't you mean EWEwitness testimony?
@@perfchaos Never forget!
Hearing Kevin Conroy’s voice still brings tears to my eyes. There will really never be another one like him.
I hope this is a game where you exclusively pass mustard whilst having your identity outed
*fork drops*
Can you pass the mustard, Batman?
oh…. OH!
Press Y to pass mustard
Alfred needs that mustard!
"Would you like another iced tea, Batman?"
I liked this game when it came out. It was about as authentic as superhero games got at the time, and it felt cool to seemingly be playing an interactive episode of the animated series.
Spider-Man on PS1 felt much more authentic and came out a year earlier. /Marvel fanboy
@@killerb2099 That was a good game, too.
“Wrote a profile on this woman. See if ‘it’s complicated.’” I see you, Dan. That was a good one.
OMG Dan knowing about Grendel and the whole black, white, and red issues made me so happy! I felt like I had practically imagined that series and its multiple iterations, so Dan bringing it up out of the blue kinda surprised me.
*Owen Wilson voice* Wow! Aw man!
Probably one of the best parts of the Harley Quinn show is when Batgirl always calls Commissioner Gordon "dad" frequently by accident. He never catches on and just thinks she has a complex.
"shower-beer"
The "cancer gun" is probably my favorite part of that series, but Bane being played like everyone's parody of him is also great.
"Type-casting"
Happened to Mark Hamill.
Star Wars put a stigma on his face, when it came to finding work, because (back in the day, especially) no one wanted to compete with Star Wars. They probably never even got passed the calling stage because just the name "Mark Hamill," conjured the same image in everyone's head. "Luke Skywalker"
So he went off screen, went behind the mic, and found pretty good success in voice acting. Not a stretch to consider him going for this part, as well
I see Batman has returned after the dreaded mustard/ice tea incident. I'm proud of him.
Don't forget the stamps
" Look what's waiting for you if you come back"
Ah yes I miss bits like this
S.A.S. tend to be super scary XD
I see, a fellow longtime fan as well
With that floating on a board thing, I assume Arin was thinking of Static Shock. I miss that show, Static was a real great hero, local level, relatable. Most of his villains were also fairly relatable, it wasn't all 'I will rule/destroy the world!'
Also there was an episode where Commissioner Gordon pretty much said without actually saying that he knew Barbara was Batgirl, and somewhat implied he knew Bruce was Bats. It was an episode where Barbara was hallucinating her worst fears thanks to Scarecrow. Her fear being that Gordon learns she's Batgirl as she's dying in the role, and Gordon essentially raids Wayne Manor with the entire Gotham PD, gets into the Batcave, and so forth. Man I miss the older DC shows.
hell yeah Static Shock knowledge drop
I thought of tail spin.
Arin was thinking of the kid in Tailspin who had the board that folds out and looks like a croissant
Wow, he wasn’t even CLOSE to thinking about Batman there.
I thought maybe he was talking about Static from Static Shock. He also has a board that folds out but it becomes a full circle.
wut
you're thinking of Kit Cloudkicker
i think he was thinking about the green goblin's flying board-thingy
I love that all the voice actors are in this! Mark Hamill's Joker will always be perfection.
33:28 “I don’t know what’s next…for batman…” freaking KILLED me for some reason
I don’t know why but it sounds like something Adam West’s Batman might end up saying either to Robin or himself.
Weird thought but yeah hearing that was just GOLD
It might help if the scenery wasn't all grey and monotonous.
The pure ernestness in his voice as he said it was pure gold
Him saying that and then aimlessly flying around is so funny. Like a visual depiction of what Dan is saying, that the franchise has run it's course. If that makes sense
Arin always mistaking Arleen Sorkin's Harley Quinn voice with Tara Strong's never fails to make me sad. Recognition for Arleen Sorkin, the superior Harley Quinn
This game feels like the weird pre-alpha bones of the Arkham games. It's actually really cool to see.
This game and the Batman Begins game are the proto-Arkham games. Batman Begins even kinda had a super primitive iteration of the Fear mechanic they did in Arkham Knight.
Fun fact: Paul Dini and the rest of the btas gang wanted to make an animated Batman movie and during the writing process they realized the movie was gonna be pretty long, after a while that movie turned into the first Arkham video game
The "Croissant Board" is Kit Cloudkicker from Talespin, but Staic Shock uses a folding disk/ trashcan lid to fly around on.
Mad Respect for the Grumps recognizing Kevin Conroy, RIP
Batgirl's identity depends on the version. In Batman and Robin, she was Alfred's niece (also Alfred died). I don't remember much about Batman the animated series (despite loving it, I was pretty young), but I do know in Harley Quinn Animated, Batgirl is the daughter of Gordon.
If the Pixar Mom turns out to be Harley Quinn in disguise I’m going to scream
Opp
Drink water and get some soundproofing walls
HEheh, hence the chapter title "A Girl to Die For" and just to really hammer it home, the gravestone having Harleen's little jester doobers coming off its shadow.
You think MARY LYNN may be HARLEY QUINN? Nonsense. Just because they sound exactly alike...
love that Dan has an appreciation for The Young Ones, such classic british humour - R.I.P Rik Mayall, he was such a sweetheart
While Tara Strong is an excellent Harley Quinn, the role in TAS originated with Arleen Sorkin (who also voices Harley in this game). Strong was the voice of Batgirl in the animated series (and in Vengeance). She picked up the role of Harley in other projects (like the Arkham games and Injustice).
Her first go as Harley was in Arkham City.
Tara strong is so HOT tho. Google
Her. She is the ultimate MILF an so talented. The woman of 1000 voices. She did ALL the voices on powderpuff girls and dexters laboratory. Those early Cartoon Network classic was just a hot young busty blonde talking to herself. I remember when they did a BTS on powderpuff girls
And showed her doing the voices in the booth and even back then when I was 4 I was 🥰. I love her. I hate her husband. He needs to go back to Canada. 🇨🇦
I love that their Batman voice is like Batman but he went onna small drinking binge 😂
I loved this game when I was a kid. So many memories watching the Animated Series.
It's actually not bad. I thought they would be playing Batman: Dark Tomorrow. Now there's a shite PS2 game
@@creatorsubscriptions7821 ya it dont look bad just needs a bit more detail so things stand out abit more so it doesn't all look the same and you can know where to go
Did a real good job looking like the series tho
@@creatorsubscriptions7821 Yeah, it looks like the people involved actually cared at least. The cinematics are neat, voice actors are trying, animations have style to them. It’s a weird contrast with the lack of content in the rest of the game.
Arin's ability to simultaneously complain about and completely ignore a tutorial is truly mind-blowing
Maybe it is, if you have never managed to entertain anyone while playing a video game
The delivery on “I don’t know what’s next for Batman” was brilliant
"Swear off bad PS2 games"
Isn't that the Gamecube controller in the corner?
Arin saying “what dat ass do tho” at the same time Danny said “what a cute bomb!” is peak Game Grumps
I love how the title of this episode says they swear off bad ps2 games, but at 12:00 it's clearly a Gamecube controller.
The idea of Dan as Batman, Arin as Robin, and Ally as Barbara is making me smile inadvertently
BatDan: I need to defuse this bomb so everyone quiet
RobArin: do you think dogs know that they’re dogs?
BatDan: Robin please-
BarbAllie: no he’s got a point
thats creepy
That's not inadvertent. Stop being a neckbeard
*Allie
Arin: How does Batman strike fear into anyone?
I can guarantee, if an absolute MONOLITH of a man stalked the night and beat people until their brains leak out their ears, the last thing I'm going to do is insult his outfit
Every so often Dan and Arin play a game of one of my hyperfixations. It always makes me wish that I was with them so I could infodump at them.
@@deimoskaischylos I'm sure they meant that batman in general is one of their hyperfixations.

"That's not what he looked like in the Bruce Tim show"
In later seasons yes he did
Guys, Violent Night was SO much fun and surprisingly heartfelt for a holiday-themed action movie. Good stuff, and David Harbour is fantastic as Santa.
guess we watched 2 diff movies shit was trash
At 7:44 Arin you might be thinking of Static Shock. He had a little collapsible disk that he would charge up and ride on.
He might also be mixing Static with Kit Cloudkicker from Disney’s “TaleSpin”, the disc he glided on was more crescent/croissant-like while Static’s was more of a straight-up circle.
@@BrianGeers totally possible! I’d forgotten all about Cloudkicker.
@@BrianGeers Holy shit, thank you for your huge brain. As soon as Arin mentioned it, it unlocked a memory and that was it.
Nothing less immersive than a tutorial sequence that makes it seem like your character has never done this before
Arin: flying disk? What am I thinking of.
Meanwhile me: Static Shock?
Kit Cloudkicker
@@gargoyles9999who?
This game is actual a childhood favorite for me and i love watching them play it regardless of how much they may hate it
Same here! I remember getting stuck so early in the game as a kid, but when I eventually beat it, I thought it was a great time. Seeing them fumble about was a bit nostalgic
Batman's feet while he's sidling along the wall reminds me of a heartless's feet in Kingdom Hearts for some reason.
As soon as I saw the opening cutscene of this game it shot me into a wave of nostalgia, I use to play this game all the time as a kid, it’s so familiar and yet I can’t remember any details. How surreal, thank you grumps :,)
That moment when Erin is perfectly describing Kit from Tale Spin and his weird little flying saucer thing from that show. Why was it so obvious for me? lol
i thought it was static shock
We knew what it was too.
@@jonmadden7161 his was a disc.
@@jonmadden7161 I can see that too, but that show was a bit after my time. I was a child of the 80s/90s so TaleSpin was first to my mind.
This wouldn’t be Tara strong doing Harley Quinn. If it’s the animated series cast doing the voices it would be arleen sorkin. She also did her voice in Arkham asylum as well. Tara strong took over for her when she left and does a great job though.
This game was my childhood. I absolutely loved playing it with my bother and it was always a very loved game for us.
Didn't expect to see it here but good nonetheless.
Arin was thinking of Static Shock when he described the folding flying board
The animation in this game is delightful. Aged, for sure, but very smooth most of the time. I'm impressed.
29:27 I love bits like these lol. The first thing that came to my head was a convo like this:
Arin: “So how much time do you have left, about another year?”
Danny: “Oh, it’s already shipped.”
A: “Oh great, you already shipped it to the testers?”
D: “No… it’s on store shelves.”
A: “I don’t understand. Did you ship it to the testers or store it on the shelf? Which is it?”
D: “…”
"Static Shock" is the cartoon Arin is after with the "croissant board that flies". It was originally a trash can lid and his buddy made him a hover disc.
Arleen Sorkin was the original inspiration and voice actress for Harley Quinn and she voiced her in this game. Tara Strong voiced Batgirl in this game
Tail Spin has the croissant shaped air surf board that Cubby would throw out and it would unfold to something he could glide on top of. It was a pretty cool little gadget. Also Electric Shock used a piece of metal to fly around on in the 90/00s cartoons era.
Cubby? I think you are thinking of Gummi Bears. The kid from Tailspin is Kit Cloudkicker.
static shock, but yeah
I remember watching static shock on cw4 growing up, that show was amazing
its like 3am and batmans face at 8:59 KILLED me after reading a note like that omg
Can we make this a series lol - the batman jokes were gold 😆
Static Shock had a weird hoverboard contraption and I believe that show was running around the same time as the Batman Animated Series.
R.I.P Kevin Conroy my, and many others first Batman 🖤
Tara Strong has taken over the role of Harley Quinn but in this game and in the animated series the voice actor (and partial inspiration) was Arleen Sorkin. Tara Strong wouldn’t take over until later projects like the Arkham games or The Batman
I think a better title for the episode would be ‘Arin finally plays the tutorial’
'and still misses all the relevant information in it'
he has played tutorials many times, he just forgets very quickly cause he is distracted by talking to dan
"This game makes us swear off PS2 games"
*Looks at gamecube controller in the game's HUD*

good for you but bruh u might need another session to deal w that oversharing lmao
The whole voice cast from the animated series being in this is amazing.
Also Joker did look like that. He got a re-design for The New Adventures of Batman. ANd that's not Tara Strong doing Harley Quinn, it's her original VA Arleen Sorkin.
RIP Rik Mayall. He'll forever be one of the young ones.
1:29 to SKIP the AD
my god, I thank you Danny every time you mention The Young Ones
that show is the absolute best and if you haven't watched it, you NEED it in your life
You guys. PLEASE. I BEG YOU. Do at least one more episode of this game. This was a favorite of mine as a kid. And your commentary was hilarious as per norm. I would love to see more.
This was the very first game I played on the ps2. It was complicated back then, but I had so much fun enjoying the memories of having the game as my first Playstation game ever. I also remember when I was a kid, I do my best to finish my homework and everything just to catch the animated Batman show 6:00 almost every night. And honestly, Kevin Conroy is, in my opinion, the best voice for Batman I have heard in any animated creation. Rest in peace, Kevin. Thank you for the fond memories, truly legendary.
The character with the "little board that folds out like a croissant" Arin is thinking of may be Static Shock, or less likely...Kit Cloudkicker from Tailspin.
7:57 I'm 80% sure you're talkin about Static Shock. He used tin foil when thrown out, would turn into a hover board. It was the shape of le croissant!
Arin at 26 minutes in: "I didn't know her name was Mary. Who's Mary?"
Me: Wow, he really doesn't read any of the things...
Neither has Dan.
Hey Arin the croissant flying thing is from the cartoon Tail Spin. That lil bear that flys around with Baloo unfolds the croissant thing, holds a rope out the back of the plane and sky surfs 🤣.
Arin being upset about the “and” not having a comma makes me wonder if he ever watched School House Rock as a kid.
School House Rock was the shit
7:55 "Some cartoon where some character has, like, like, a board that, like, folds out? It's like a croissant? And then they fly around on it."
You're thinking of Kit Cloudkicker from Disney's TaleSpin, Arin.
The yelling of "he runs like a weiner" then going on to say "there's something weinery about that" sent me to space
I'm at home wondering "what the fuck does that actually mean? Is it a reference to 'sausage party?' " later he says the word doofus, which I guess, explains his thought, but still doesn't clearly define it.
@@Wilson91191 I think it just means he runs really stupid, why he chose to use the word weiner tho, I don't know lol
He is using "weiner" interchangeably with "weenie". I don't think Arin is talking about a penis walk cycle
@@MightyKirkhammer Though, in all honesty, we must admit that he *would* do that.
@@Archgeek0 Yes your honor, I do admit it
God, the era of games like this was a fun one, and missed terribly. Thanks for playing this one, guys!
On a side note... did Arin seem even MORE clueless than usual this time around, like asking "What am supposed to do?" 3 seconds AFTER hearing the explanation/seeing the scene play out, in game? Like legitimate toe-curling, teeth-clenching, "It JUST SHOWED/TOLD you what to do?! HOW did you miss that, Arin?! JEEZ! Quit trying to kiss Danny, and play the (*@^^$^%*@ game!" LOL
I think Arin somehow conflated Kit Cloudkicker's airfoil from TaleSpin with some of Batman's Batarangs.
You guys NEED to play the Arkham games for game grumps. And I mean all four games. Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins, and Arkham Knight (100% this one)
despite the title i hope they continue this one RIP Kevin - we miss the hell out of you
when the fought Mr. Freeze in the beginning of the first movie they have expandable air surf boards when they are flying through the air.
Arin somehow thinking about Kit Cloudkicker's sky flyer from Tail Spin in a Batman game is very funny.
I watched that show so much when I was a kid but I legitimately cannot remember a time I ever knew that kid or the woman’s name. I only remember Baloo and Sher Khan (sp?). I guess I found their characters boring when I was very young lol. The kid didn’t use the board enough!
19:25 I love how Aarons voice goes over Kevin's so it looks like batman's saying "look harder"
Please God play more of this. This game is so fun to watch and your commentary is killer as always! Please please 🙏 play more!
The rooftop level music kept using this little three-note, ascending sting that had me singing the phrase "Spider-Man" in my head whenever it played, because it's almost/exactly the same notes from the Spider-Man song in a faster tempo. I'm a little surprised the Grumps didn't hear it.
Video: swears off PS2
Game: Is a GameCube game
Me: Am confused.
@IsmGameGrumps I'm assuming there was a link that got deleted? You're not one of those scammers that pretends to be the real channel, are you?
I think the cartoon that Arin is thinking of is Static Shock. The one where he has a metal disc that unfolds, he jumps on it, and uses it to fly around. There were a few episodes of that with this Batman in it, so that's probably what he was thinking of.
Man, I'd love these two to do a one-off of Mirror's edge.
This batman game was so much of my childhood, I'll always love it
Yeah, it was my first game I played on Xbox. Loved playing it
this is giving me weird nostalgia cause I remember playing the gamecube version as a kid but also hating it with every fiber of my being
The airboard Arin was talking about was probably the one used by Kit Cloudkicker from Tale Spin. Had the croissant shape and everything.
"swear off bad PS2 games forever" game input uses Nintendo Gamecube inputs and tutorials.
Someone tell arin the croissant skyboard he was thinking of is from TaleSpin. The little bear Balu hangs out with glides around in the sky with it
Oh my god this game was my shit when I was little. Pure nostalgia for me this episode. Had this “gem” on GameCube lol. The joker boss scared me too much and I never finished it 🤣
