This is Coolerman: Your a natural in front of the camera! I made that harness extra long thinking you would route the wires behind the engine along the firewall. Never even occurred to me they could be routed under the bib using the wire clips Toyota added for Fog light and other wiring. I will make a point to ask people who want this mod which way they prefer to run the wires. Well done!
I love your show. I really miss watching you guys antics. But I admit… I’m an aircraft electrician… and boy howdy, did ya make my skin crawl with that wire work!!!!! Lol
If all wiring would be as easy as this. this is one of the scariest parts of the project for me. I just dread wiring and my loom is a freaking mess. Great Episode!
@@projectwrongway9127 jup, and guess what. I am super bad at math and electricity. I just hope the 42 doesnt go up in flames once I am done with it. Would be a entertaining video though.
You know Ben’s focussed when he totally misses that you suggested smacking him on camera. Next time just do it, might open up a whole new demographic 😉
Just watching this video now, since I’m currently working on my 74 FJ… Why did you go this route? Looks like you were eliminating the need for an external regulator with the FJ60 internal version, but you linked it into the old 40’s regulator anyway. What was the benefit?
Howdy! Would you use the solder seal connectors again? I've started using those on my sbc conversion, takes a lot of heat and time even at 1200 degrees to get it to melt I'm seeing. Can you post a link to Coolerman's site if he has one? Thanks, love your vids!
Ya know, the 60 ended up sitting under a tree in Texas for 10 years because he had to step away and do another project.... seems it just moved to a new tree in a new state? sweet.
An important note about your alternator! While you did get this one to fit, its NOT for an FJ60.. If you attempt to put one in a 60 it wont fit. There is a well known error in the parts compatibility database that lists the one you have as an FJ60 part. Its not, its for a Corona. The problem is that box for the voltage regulator is on the wrong side of the mounting bolt, which is why its slammed all the way up against the engine. The correct part has the VR box on the OTHER side of the top mounting bolt, allowing for proper adjustment as well as access to the VR cover on the alternator. Just something to keep in mind now that you have a 60, because it will drive you BONKERS trying to get that thing to fit when it wont. Take a look at this picture of a correct alternator and note the location of the VR box in regard to which side of the top mounting bolt its on. shop.cruiserparts.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_3411_3440&products_id=36653
@@projectwrongway9127 Its a common mistake because all the parts dealers seem to go off the same database. I bought two before I read about the problem on the mud forums. Unfortunately, the correct ones are far more expensive and harder to come by. At least the one you have is working for you! Not broke, dont fix! =)

I can guarantee I’m not any better at wire work 😆
Glad you're back on the 40!!!!
It’s my baby.
Love the bloopers 🤙
It’s mostly bloopers 😆

Wiring scares the shit out of me. It’s too much like math, one wrong move and the whole damn equation is wrong!

Wiring is always fun! I found automatic wire strippers made my life a lot easier… less likely to rip all the cores out.
Buying those...
Cooler man is the man. I bought all my wires from him.
I hope to do the same 😆
Where are you?! Is everything OK with you guys?!!! The Wrong Way Nation misses you and your FJ needs worked on!
Totally fine, just out of the game for a few.
August is coming quick! Better get that 40 buttoned up! Looking forward to seeing you at SAS 🥳
Right?! I’m starting to feel the heat, literally
I am finally the first to like a video!!!!! Keep them coming! (TWSS)
TwSS is a perfect ending to that sentence 😂
What happened!! Last episode you were in the dark in the desert. Now back working on the FJ40 and no mention of the FJ60.
I got the ending up man, just didn’t hype it yet.
Where can we buy that Wrong Way merch brother?!
When I get more made!
Hmm... Looks like I will be making a purchase after I figure out drum brakes
Mark (Coolerman) is awesome. Don’t hesitate!
@@projectwrongway9127 I will look him up!
Does Coolerman still sell the wiring kit?

She’s a striker for sure, luckily I don’t bruise easy...
@@projectwrongway9127 She'll just have to aim for a padded area that's usually covered on camera, to avoid suspicion ;)

Better alternator. Just about it. Plus I’m a sucker for making things more difficult.

They’re alright, but I might shop for a better quality product. Like the heat shrink and crimp ones. No soldiering

Jeez you people are tough to please! The 60 will get its time in the shop, until then the 40 is back at the front of the line... 😆
What kinda amperage boost do you get? The stock alternator blows a$$.
I think it’s a 55 amp...
Those Yellow Posi-Lock connectors appear to be the tits!
I bought some of those Sopoby Solder connectors myself and was not impressed.
Yeah, trial and error. And those posi lock bits are dope.

My 82 FJ40 alternator is on the other side lower part of the engine...
Of course I bought the wrong one lol... totally fits the shows name! When this one dies I’ll pay closer attention, thank you for the info Kris.

Exactly! I’ll run it till it dies, then maybe I’ll figure out a better method!
Wow, painful.
It always is.
