This is a video that covers duck hunting on a budget. Duck hunting can be very expensive, but if you look in the right places and don't spend too much on things that you don't need to spend a lot on, you can duck hunt on a very tight budget. In this video I cover the gear that a new duck hunter would need to buy in order to go hunting.

Good to give the newbies some information. Well done. Back in late sixties and early seventies with no or little money, I started off with borrowed shotgun from Dad, built my own decoys out of styrofoam buoys, no duck call, hip boots, waxed hunting coats and hats; had to figured out how to get to marsh without boat- walk through swampy woods. Hard work but today everything is much easier once you got really good paying job lol.
Instead of a layout blind I do pretty good finding cover like tall grass or short bushes. Lay a tarp on the ground and a cheap mesh camo blanket/netting. In CA it's not that cold especially early season. Smaller profile easier to hide.
I can't get over how good this young man's videos are!! I agree pretty much everything he says until the pop up blind, I started hunting waterfowl in 1977 and never had one but I was usually a refuge hunter and we make our own just by mashing down the tules and sitting on our mud bucket. my club had pit blinds and one of the refuges has them too. Whatever works for you.
I used a mail order store called Uncle Bucks and they had super deals on most everything. I replaced my old 10X parka with a jacket from them. Very good quality.
Here in Calif. it's too warm for waders over 3 mil thick. I like stocking foot and my partner likes the boot foot.
Great advice on decoys, used is fine. Finally one season my partner asked if I was using generic decoys, mine had zero paint. I bought a paint kit from Cabalis and brushes from Michale's and had the best looking deeks I ever owned! I painted them every third season.
The only real trick I have to share is how to string or line decoys. It's quick, clean and tangle free. Can't post photos but it's easier to show then tell.
I used a Winchester SXP for 3 years when I was first getting into duck hunting and loved it, never malfunctioned and is very easy and quick to pump, I just recently switched to a Beretta A300 Outlander only because I was ready and could afford an upgrade
Don’t have much to add. Other than you can get a cheap kayak from Walmart between $100 and $200. After $10 worth of camo spray paint, you can retrieve ducks over water without a dog for relatively cheap.
you can often find used jon boats for that price range as well, slap on a trolling motor and you have my exact setup lol
Danny Verduzco I’ve definitely operated with that setup as well. Just usually more convenient for me to drag a light kayak and paddle than to carry a johnboat with a battery and trolling motor. Me and my buddies have kayaked and canoed across the Ohio River during heavy ice flow many times after a fat drake mallard makes a splash 😂😂
A good video would be to show some blind building strategies in the reeds and places where layout blinds render useless
Everything I do is on a budget, but I do pretty damn good on my fishing and hunting game..
Thanks man really helpful vid id like to start water fowl hunting soon so this was really helpful
I had this problem a couple of years ago when I first decided to start duck hunting with some friends of mine. However, if you keep your eye out for some good deals you can start duck hunting for about 600$. I already had a Remington 870,incredible reliability for a 300$ gun, still use it to this day. Then for decoys, around Christmas, Tanglefree always does a huge sale on them and I got a dozen mallards, weights, and a bag for 60$, killer deal. Federal shells from Walmart 50$ for a case. Then I got my waders from Cabelas on Black Friday for 110$, they are great quality for the price, I’ve been using them for two seasons, no leaks and great insulation. Clothing wise, I got a drake jacket for 150$ on sale during the summer, 20$ thermals from Walmart, and packed on some old hoodies and flannels. If you keep and eye out and ask others what works best in the field, you can definitely ball on a budget.
New to the channel and loving it. First time duck hunter and hopefully get started this year. Saving up for the boom boom stick I really want lol. My buddy who is a gunsmith is helping me retrofit my 870 pump so I can have to ready for duck season. Replacing recoil pad and a nice Cerakote treatment and better sights. Thinking on trying 2 3/4 shell to see if that will help with kick on my shoulder. After 6 years in the Army and a rough life shoulders are not what they were. Great content keep it up brother
Cabela’s northern flight layout blinds are great. For $125 its just as good as my buddies $300
Been looking forward to this vid!
I started off just jumping ducks. Then I got into actual waterfowl hunting. I use a Remington 870 supermag (3 1/2 in shotshells for geese)
Well done. I needed that a few years ago but thats really good information
hey bro, i know you get alot of comments on all of the videos but I love your channel, i do alot of budget hunting, fishing and stuff but this past season you got me into duck hunting for the first time. iv watched nearly all of your dove and duck videos and i picked up a decent kayak that iv fished from and when the duck season opens im gonna use it for duck hunting. when i search 'kayak duck hunting' your videos always pop up. im hoping to get my videos up there with yours after this season when i make my own kayak duck hunting videos. thanks again for what you do i love the channel. sorry for the long comment
Great video. Maybe do a video on how to find ducks and hunting over both water and land. Coming from someone who wants to start duck hunting but doesn’t know alot about it.
Adam Mundy this
good info. also, try pon shops and army surplus stores
I have a beretta a300 and love it definitely would recommend it
Good info. Been looking at a new lay out blind.
Check out gym shoes decoys as well for a cheap durable options for full bodies. They're collapsible like you would use for turkey and real enough that by the time the geese notice the difference you should be able to shoot them anyway!
love my sxp have put a thousand rounds through since september
Used Winchester 1200/1300, known as the speed pump!
Scout scout and scout . Be where the ducks want to be and you don’t need many decoys!
Mosseberg 500 is my go to at the moment 😂
We can get away with the cheaper waders in Florida it doesn`t get that cold down here .
Cabelas NF layout blind only 120 and is high quality.
Get yourself a pair of decoy gloves! Nothing is worse than having a pair of gloves that turn into a block of ice after you get all set up. Especially if you are paddling out in a kayak!
At least 1000 grams of insulate??? I live in Wisconsin and late season my feet are toasty with 400
I have 1 dozen Mallards, I want to add some different decoys to my spread, and 2 more calls. What do recommend for someone like me who is on a budget.
U helped me alot on rhe laat one bro
Amazon has good decoys
When did you leave DUX? I don't see you with their stuff anymore
Remington 1187 has been my best waterfowl gun and you can find them for about 500 bucks if you look well enough
I bounce back and forth between my 1187 and 870.
If I'm missing...I'll switch to the 870.
just bought an 1187 at Walmart $474.98, awesome gun. @@kylespraysammili9108
Waterproof ammo box

how do the speed shocks pattern out of the mossberg 500 (assuming its a modified choke)
Are u sponsored by bulk decoy club?
Tim Wells kills all kinds of ducks with a bow...and no sights!
Almost 3000 view's and only250 like? Come on people hit that like button. Ya should know good content when you see it☝️☝️☝️☝️
Duck hunting is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
