I appreciate it and thanks for the insight into the sycamores as well! There sure are some big ones along there but I doubt there as old as we thought if they grow quick
Really enjoyed this - new waterfowl hunter and these video (especially with shotkam) are helpful learning tools/inspiration. Also way to pick up your shells 👍🏽. Was impressed - you are a considerate hunter brother!
Great video Thomas! Good shot selections and a triple to boot! Crazy seeing bamboo growing out there. wonder if that's a potential invasive plant in your area.
Awesome numbers of Woodies! Picking up my Prodigy 1854 next week. Let me know if you could use a boat in some of those spots. I’m in Danville and can travel anytime.
They were thick all over the state this past January from what I saw! Most these creek spots are kayak only but I'll let you know if I come across some stuff this season that's ideal for a rig like that!
Oh sorry goose season was in 4 days not teal it opens on the September 14, but habitats looking decent right now. But last season was fairly warm in MS not many ducks so hope for the best.
I got pinned on one of the last days last season when it was 18 degrees early in the morning. I got a little wet but my gun got soaked. Luckily after a few shells the gun thawed out and ended with a good day and a couple stories to tell
Thank you! The main thing you have to be aware of is that you can't trespass on the lands around the waterbody. That's a big reason why we are very selective with our shots when on these floats since you need to drop the birds in the water
Haha I was really trying to work on my shot selection at this point in the season. Had lost a few birds earlier in the year and really didn't want to lose anymore
Did your channel get hacked? I received an email asking me to text a reply to enter a hunt giveaway. Your pic is shown in the email but it is not sure it’s you sending this email. After checking the video most of the people who commented got the same email as I did.
Was it an email or just a comment? These kind of scams asking you to text or email have been pretty common this year unfortunately. They don’t actually hack my channel but just take the picture from my account and try to pose as me
@@HokeOutdoors it was an email. The person actually replied to this email and posed as you stating it was a “legit” deal. I sent a text reply and the response was that I would receive a fishing kayak if I paid for the shipping. I declined. I checked later and all the offers had been scrubbed from your video.
@@HokeOutdoors can you contact RUclips to ask how to block the email (and sender) that I received ? The email was posted from RUclips and if I block it I think it will prevent any email coming from RUclips, not just this scammer.
Man these kayak hunting videos are my favorite keep it up
Thanks brother!
Sycamores are very fast growing trees. Nice to see you guys observing your surroundings and being cautious when near the houses. Good call.
I appreciate it and thanks for the insight into the sycamores as well! There sure are some big ones along there but I doubt there as old as we thought if they grow quick
13 days and counting to early goose.
Won't be long now! How are things looking around you?
@@HokeOutdoors I've got a river just a few minutes away that has been holding a large gaggle of Canadas and a few good fields line it.
Same here, nh opens Sept 1st
Got me a canoe two days ago that will be put in so that I can try some of the float hunting myself this year in VA
Thomas I like watching these Rivers and Creek Jump shooting enjoyed it
Thanks Chuck! They're some of my favorites to go on, especially when it gets cold like it did last season
That was definitely one of the best 3 for 3’s I’ve seen you shoot. Nice video!
Thanks brother!
That was a good trip until you got stuck !!! Glad you kept your cool and got out safely.
Thanks Nasser! Luckily it was only knee deep water so I wasn't in any danger, my main worry was just getting my gear soaking wet
@@HokeOutdoors That's why I keep everything in dry bags or plastic boxes when kayak hunting. I can't wait to see more videos on jump shooting.
Great episode Thomas. Keep up the great work. Love these types of hunts from a kayak.
Thanks Maurice!
i really enjoy the float shoots. its different.
Thanks Chris! Definitely different but lots of fun!
Kayak goose jump shoot would be a blast. Nice triple!
Thanks brother! They're a good time, highly recommended!

My favorite videos because this is what I do where I live
Thanks for watching! What kind of birds do you mainly get when doing this?
That looked like a sweet water adventure!
Thanks Ryan! Was a good time for sure
Great video love the jump shoots river hunts
Thanks brother! I appreciate you watching them
Awesome video! Giving me the confidence to hunt out of my kayak! Good shooting!
Thanks Jeremy! Hope you're able to get out for a hunt in your kayak soon!
I love these float videos, not something we can do much of in my area. Nice little hunt.
Same here. I’ve never seen this before a few months ago. Wish it was something that I could do where I’m at
Flushed some woodies out of overhanging bamboo like at 8:08 in January. They can always hide but in that stuff they REALLY can hide.
Great video, keep them coming!
Thanks Michael! More coming soon!
Great video Thomas! Good shot selections and a triple to boot! Crazy seeing bamboo growing out there. wonder if that's a potential invasive plant in your area.
Thanks Matt! It definitely is invasive in parts of Virginia, from what I understand it's really hard to get rid of once it's established
Beautiful swamp run.
Great video, love the creek y’all were in. Those little rapids always make me nervous.
Thanks Fritz! They can be a little sketchy for sure
Great restraint, great shooting, great video.
Almost felt like I was there!
Thank you! That's always the feeling I strive for when making these videos!
Nice triple Thomas
Thanks Titus!
Fun hunt ... good job Thomas
Good Shooting! Awesome Video!
Thanks brother!
Good job guys, screw in the full chokes and let it rip on the higher ones 👍
Nice shooting. 3 for 3.
Awesome area your in looked like you guys had a blast
Thanks buddy! It was a good time for sure, always enjoy a cold morning in the kayaks
I love float hunting deer
Never tried that before but sounds fun, do you do it with a rifle or shotgun?
That 3 for 3 was sweet!
Thanks brother!
@@HokeOutdoors Texas is drying up. Gonna be a tough season here!
Not too shabby.
I love jump shooting in my kayak
Really cool looking spot
For sure! VA is blessed with a lot of cool looking habitat like this
Great hunt
Thanks Craig!
That’s a good hunt one of my favorite ways to cook geese or woodies is to wrap em In Bacon and grill um
Thanks brother! They sure are good that way but my favorite is plucked and roasted or grilled with the skin on
@@HokeOutdoors thats A really good way too

Early goose starts here in California tomorrow. Gonna try to decoy some on the river then jump shoot after if that doesn’t work.
Teal season is 4 days away in Mississippi, and good signs of them flying and hanging around down here.
Very good to hear! How's y'alls habitat looking down there this year?

Awesome shooting. Never kayaked for jump shooting. What are the rules for shooting on these creeks when surrounded by private property?
Thank you! The main thing you have to be aware of is that you can't trespass on the lands around the waterbody. That's a big reason why we are very selective with our shots when on these floats since you need to drop the birds in the water
What kinda choke do you run in your gun while jump shooting on the kayak
Carlsons light modified
👏👏👏👏
New sub ! Liked 😊🤭🔥🔥❤️
Kayak hunts 😏😏
Wow nice
Прекрасное охота 👍
Good to see a varied bunch of wildlife. What ever happened to the deal with your truck when you hit that deer?
It ended up being totaled but it was relatively new so I was able to get something similar with the insurance money
These kind of videos hit home big time ! Which month was this ?
This was late January if I remember correctly
Hey man what brand of kayak do you hunting in
What’s the ideal time of day for this kind of hunt? For early resident Canadas specifically.
Depends on if the birds are going out to feed in fields. If they aren't then anytime of day is fine, if they are then you'd only want to do it midday
@@HokeOutdoors Thank you sir!
New sub ! Liked 👍✌️😊🔥
What choke and ammo do you use
Please consider wearing a wading belt on those waders. Could be the difference between life and death if you fall in.
I typically would but I couldn't find mine on this morning which is why I decided to wear neoprene waders
Where do you find buddies to hunt with I hunt a lot but can’t get nobody to go with me
Nice to see you back at it! Whatever flys dies!
Thanks for watching Josh!
May not be invasive/planted bamboo. Might be river cane, which is indigenous to America.
If you read about the pioneers of Kentucky, there were massive canebrakes like you saw all along the rivers.
Huh that’s very interesting. I’ve never heard of river cane before, will have to look into it!
was this public land river?
No, just a navigable waterway. All the land around it is private so we just floated from bridge to bridge
Are your shells biodegradable?
good
Was this a last years hunt how can all the trees be dead already only halfway through august?
Yep this was from last season, only place goose season is open right now is in ND
@@HokeOutdoors sorry I was confused because it says 2022

Franchi Affinity 3
What kayak/canoe do you use? Your friends one looks a little small for what I would shoot (tidal river) your looks a little bit more robust.
I wanna do this so bad lol where I live can’t shoot water fowl out of a moving vessel 😕
What state are you hunting
Virginia
where do you live that you can do this?

What state?
Has the season began?
Only for early goose in North Dakota, this was from last season

Have you ever came across someone else hunting while jump shooting?
Yep a couple times, never had any issues

7:45 glad it’s a shotgun and not a rifle
Why do you smack the back of your gun?
Turns on the Shotkam

I think the spent casings need to be picked up. I see this trash all the time while out kayaking.
We always pick up our casings.
I hate seeing trash along our waterways just as much as anyone else!
Environmental polluter: the empty cartridge cases do not belong in the water!
We pick up all of our empties
Your in a canoe not a kayak…lol you have a kayak paddle but your in a canoe lol
I love ur videos but if you were a better shooter that would be awesome
Haha thanks! Hopefully my shooting will get better as the season goes on
