Fantastic advice. I build my 1st 350 turbo hydramatic 25 yrs ago with success. Your advice on homemade tools is wise. 1 thing to emphasize..... be CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN... especially on the valvebody. This is why a metal top work space is important.
1:53 they came out a couple years after I was born, so 40+ years now! I remember my dad had a nearly new 89 Sierra 4x4 ext cab long box (with a 305!) and I always thought 1st gear was so short. Years later I learned it's over 3:1, much deeper than a TH350,400,etc. I haven't done much trans work, but 20+ years ago I put a shift kit in my friends 700 in his 89 IROC. I warned him that it might fishtail easier around corners, especially in the rain 😂
it cost me 1100 dollars just in parts to rebuild a 4l60e, but I know it will last a long time..some high quality snap ring pliers are a must.... a clean working area, and a case of brakeclean... I pressure wash the case of the trans before disassembling.. if u send your trans out to a shop, u never know what u will get.. trans shops end up with alot of spare parts and im sure they are tempted to put used, questionable parts in the rebuilds.. the fact that most trans shops off a very short warranty, tell you they arent really rebuilding them, they are freshing them up and cleaning them.
Im interested in that pdf i I just got 84 k10 with tranny issues got 2 700r4 s so hopefully I can fix one maybe both for a backup or next project. Your information is priceless and I will be following your channel. How can I get the pdf.

Great video. And i love your old truck. That baby has character.
Sounds like your alarm system is beeping 😂 as a cable guy, I hear that in a lot of homes.
Use the old trans fluid or heating oil for the shop. Or bring it to a recycling center.
Very helpful, encouraging advice! Thanks Brother! 💪
Really enjoyed your video!
Great information and a fantastic presentation. Thank you sir.
Thanks Rick.

What you say is so true, I like the peace of mind that comes with knowing its done well, and when something goes wrong I have no one to blame :)
@@carcobbler Plastic spacer is a nylon bushing, you want, NEED it in there.
@@Sabe53 thanks, I didn’t take any chances, opened they tranny again and put the bushing in where it belongs.
@@carcobbler Yea a roller bearing would be better than that nylon thingy but with out it your metal on metal.

How long have you been building transmission?
First one was to years ago but I’ve only done about 6 :)
Can I get the manual please?
Here’s the one I use: www.uscars.biz/uscars/extras-documents/ATRA_GM_4L60-4L60E_%28700R4%29_Rebuild_Procedures.pdf

A NV 4500 is a excellent 5spd manual transmission 😆😆
good video but that beeping in the background is so annoying
Thanks for watching. Maybe the beep has something to do with you are watching on. I can’t hear a beep at all.
I don't hear any beep on the video.
