Kh2 was my first. It was what got me into the series as a kid.
Same, ot also taught me English lol
Back then, when I was a wee lad of 4. I jumped straight into kh2 and had a fun time. Then I played, days, went to kh1, played com, then recom, bbs, ddd, kh3. The correct order is release order and I stand by that, but itd also be slightly hypocritical of me to say that because I jumped in at 2.
COM was my first Kingdom Hearts game, and both COM and 2 are my absolutely favorite in the franchise.
I think that if someone told me that I should start the franchise with 2, I will never follow an advice from them in my life, from various reasons
1: it completely ruins the magic of the first, a big part of the magic of it is what I like to call “childhood magic”, and you will loose a lot of it if you play it after 2
2: kh2 is the best game of the franchise, if it’s also the first one you play, you will feel underwhelmed playing the others after
3: kh2 expects you to have played the previous games, since it references constantly events that happen in both, if you have not played the other games it’s imposible to not be confused, and knowing that a lot of people think that kh is already confusing as it is, I won’t even imagine how confusing it must be if you play the games in disorder
Conclusion: if you play kh2 before kh1, you are doing the worst thing you could ever do to yourself, never do that
Kh2 is like your cereals. Alone is ok but just add milk and BOUM : Gorgeous. Kh1 is the milk
I played KH1 and KH2, not realizing COM was a GBA game at the time. I played COM after getting a PS3 and the Final Mix. While COM is still one of my favorites, I wish I had the experience of playing it before KH2. I was so confused when Sora was in a pod for no apparent reason.
Kh2fm will forever be in my top 5 games …. Combat , story , visuals , music where overall incredible and I still tear up sometimes when I play certain themes on my iPhone …. (I’m 28 year old athletic male btw)
I also consider it in my top five and I'm also a 28 year old autistic male.😂 small world 😅
I only had the 2 so I finished before the 1 but now that I have it Ima enjoy playing it in order 😊
My first game was 358/2 and DDD because I had a ds before anything else. This was a bad thing because I started in the middle of the story, but I only have 2 games before I play every kh game.
I played the numbered series first then I got to play the in betweens and I was really satisfied feeling in the holes and learning about the characters I've seen but didn't know much about
I do love KH2, but i just love Birth by Sleep more. But I've played KH1 the most number of times. At least thrice a year
Chain of memories was personally my fav
This game was the game I was most hyped for and it didn't disappoint. (I only had 1 growing up)
I played days first, recoded, then DDD, then kh1, RE:COM, kh2, bbs, then kh3
Was more confused than I should’ve been
Best advice to the newcomers, play the games in release order to get the full experience. As much as it’s tempting to just play whatever game you want, or just play it in chronological order, a lot of the later release KH games assume you that you already know the lore of the first games released, and the wow factors and story only get better because you have context of the other games before playing stuff like KH2 or BBS.
I played KH2 before any of the others. There are so many flashbacks in the beginning of the game that you get most of the info you need
Aint no way you're making it past the prologue if KH2 is your first experience of the series.
Kingdom Hearts 2 was my very first game I ever played before I played the first game lol because it's the only game I know in the series.
i think so many people find the story of KH to be confusing, because they don't play the games in release order. cause like, yeah, i think harry potter would be confusing if i just started reading it at book 3, then read book 7 next, then finally went and read book 1.
Had my girlfriend start the journey but, I was stern on going through it from the first game.
Look KH2 is an ending to a three part story yes it’s great but you miss so much if you just jump into KH2
If possible I suggest playing days before, you get so much more out of the scenes with Roxas and Axel
Unfortunately, the internet wasn't accessible as it was now so i played chain of memories first, then the first game, 358/2 , kingdom hearts 2, and finally went in release order when i caught up
Still not a terrible way to play
I just watched the cut scenes of rechain of memory's on RUclips
The first kingdom hearts game I played was chain of memory’s the I jumped into kingdom hearts 2 💀😭
What is the difference between 1 and COM? I’ve heard people say it’s the same game but just replacing heart with memory, but is there anything beyond that? Different dialogue or worlds?
Different story altogether, although you hit the same disney worlds minus Deep Jungle (Tarzan)
The combat system is also changed completely. So no, it is a sequel to the first game and it's its own thing.
@@domonchief that’s good to know. I’ll have to retry it. I didn’t get very far the first time I tried it because I thought it was all the same
i started playing chain of memories then gave up cuz i hated it
This is, unfortunately, a common sentiment in the community
i rage quit after i decided to go through the hundred acer woods bit to get a breather only to learn afterwards that in doing so i fucked up my deck so bad i couldn't even beat the boss that just showed up. couldn't go back to an early save either because i was using only one save file. i had to either hope for a miracle or restart the game. just gave up and read the manga instead. fuck that game.
@abien22 skill issue.... But I had the same issue, I don't remember exactly where but probably right before the final area, I missed one card for the door or something and had to grind for over 2 hours to get the right cards to open the next door and... Yeah fuck that game
You should also play 358/2 days before kh2
Definitely not
Play by release order. I highly recommend it
No. Really not.
I'm playing the whole Kingdom Hearts franchise, currently finishing Re:Chain of Memories. Having the chance of playing 358/2 Days, do you guys think it's worth it to actually play the game rather than seeing the HD cutscenes?
Besides, since 358/2 Days was released in 2009 and II in 2005, should I play it after II, despite being a previous game in the chronology?
Play it after 2 :)
@@overleveledgamesGot it! Thank you! :)
I figure you'll be very confused by the organization either way if you play COM or KH2 first and you'll never understand everything without all of them AND days under your belt, so imo they're interchangeable in play order as far as the story's concerned.
For that reason I'd say play KH2 if you're right off of KH1 because they're much more similar as games, whereas COM is a completely different game and feel.
-- Said another way, if you're looking for more KH1, then KH2 is a much better choice than COM
i never played COM, and honestly, i think it works very well, because you are right there with roxas wondering who these guys in black cloaks are and what the hell is going on.
No. You don't play chain till after 2. Playing kh2 without any co text of com or days makes the game play put like a mystery of who tf are these people wrf is there plan. While with context the game doesn't have the same umph. I remember playing kh2 multiple times as a teen like who are these organization members and why is everything so cryptic. And the best part is your in the same boat as sora. And then you can watch days and com movies for context and lore after words.
eh i prefer dream drop distance and kh 1 tbh magic is so broken in kh1 n its really fun to just stand n spam fireballs with diamond dust n watch everything die
I couldn't stand the gameplay of chain and re:chain. Kh1 was my first game, though, and while flawed, it was fun.
Story of kingdom hearts 1, chain of memories, days and 2 are good and fine, after that the story takes a massive dip. Not that it's story was strong or omg to start with.
But when birth by sleep and onwards it just gets worse. Not to say bbs is bad but it opened up alot of the bad plot points that the series suffers Greatly from
Played kh1 com then kh2 and knew nothing about the other games besides bbs until I became an adult. Not that it would've helped because my family was too poor to afford the ds consoles. Barely managed a game boy.
Counterpoint: play them in story order.
Birth by sleep, 1, (re)chain of memories, 358/2 days, 2, Dream drop distance, then 3.
I'd look up the story for the mobile games if you really want the whole story, mainly cause union x isn't running anymore 😅
Playing in story order ruins foreshadowing and big reveals
hey! don't forget kingdom hearts 0.2: birth by sleep - a fragmentary passage!
I havent played kh2 since i was younger but i hated the beginning lol you run around doing side quests for such a long time in the beginning and playing chatacters you dont know.
But…but, COM is so hard 😭. I mean, I know what happens in it, but I am NOT a fan of the game mechanics💀
I just don’t want to play CoM I absolutely hate the combat system
Nah, jump into 2. KH1 is pretty much non-canon and the recap of KH2 is more than enough and Chain is just bad.
Hottest take I've ever seen, lol
Non canon is crazy.
