Love this song, one of my favorite slower songs by Epica. You should give Apocalyptica - rise again (FT Simone Simons) a try, another amazing song like this one.

I know several different versions of this song; the album version, a 'normal live' version, an a capella version (live at Tilburg), a live version in Chile and this one (live in Amsterdam)... they all are really great to listen to.
And I agree about people saying 'metal is nothing more than loud noise...' People that think that way don't listen to music well. A lot of metal bands put so much deeper meanings and feelings in their lyrics most bands never think about. And on musical level they are really high standard.

Yes, Simone is on that same epic level, the highest achievable as a singer, as is Floor and Anneke. The premier league. Those three let you experience a "China syndrome". With other words, a total melt down....
By the way, Simone is indeed the dark angel in the video from Ayreon called "Daniels descent into Transitus".
