Mutant Mayhem actually follows up on the theme from Rise. Rise had a LOT of focus on the concept of family unison and how important it is for family to stick together, and Mutant Mayhem complies with that. And they also manage to do this without throwing away how the Turtles are ninjas beating up criminals.
Family is a huge theme in TMNT.

It was a fun ride! The only thing I'd have liked to see more was the turtles saving individuals at the climax battle of the movie, that way the humans would have more connections to the turtles, like how the Spider people saved people at the bridge scene in Across the Spider-Verse. I liked that Splinter felt more like a dad instead of just a master.

I've always loved the goofiness of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. To me, TMNT has always felt like a celebration of comic book heroes, and its goofiness is a testiment to how much it embraces the comic books they're inspired by. That's probably one of my bigger issues with the 2014 film. It just feels like it's trying to be Transformers on a smaller scale.

    • @laraprisma6381
      @laraprisma6381 10 месяцев назад +3

People think that TMNT should just be serious and nothing more, but when something is too serious it's very boring. And remember, this franchise started as a joke between two friends which ended up becoming a comic that was supposed to be a parody of superheroes and ninjas! In other words, TMNT as a concept is ridiculous, in execution it is incredible! The film being more comical and light is not a problem, since the first TMNT Cartoon was exactly what the hardcore fans were revealing with this film! TMNT from 87 was a more childish and lighter version of the comics, without the violence and swearing, it was for a younger audience and to sell toys, of course it wouldn't be something too heavy for the time!

I was 6 when the 1990 came out and it was the first movie I can remember being crazy hyped for because I was already familiar with TMNT from the cartoon. I was skeptical about this movie, because I wasn't a fan of the voices when i saw the trailer but I gotta be honest, from the opening scene on, I was locked in. It's crazy how fast I forgot about any skepticism i had going in. It really was that god damn good. Minus a few little gripes I have with certain little things they changed with their dynamic with Splinter and parts of their origin, that I felt was not necessary to change but ultimately it doesn't matter. Overall I'd give it a 8.7/10 and would not argue with someone if they liked this more than Spiderverse. I actually liked this animation style a bit more

Turtles 3? Yea, big downgrade. And I can't hold a failed TV show from the 90s against theatrical releases. And for the time, the Next Mutation suits really aren't that bad as effects in and of themselves. Their character designs are just lacking.

I really like how this version of the TMNT that doesn't have the origin of the turtles tied to the Footclan or the Shredder. Superfly is an excellent villain for this movie. He's similar and contrasts the turtles in such a good way. He understands their struggles but decides to fight the problem in a radical way.

Just think about it, almost anyone can relate to being a Teenage out cast but how can you relate to being a Ninja turtle? This film was a nice blend of different TMNT eras. From the original comics to the 80s show to the 2003 series. It felt like a great pastiche of all those iterations. The turtles feel like actual teenaged brothers and their camaraderie and friendship with April is the heartbeat of the film. The plot moves along at a brisk pace with an effective touch that satisfyingly builds to its conclusion in a way that evokes the heart of the movie.
I’m a little disappointed about the separation between Splinter and the Turtles from Shredder in their origin, but I get it. The separation does allow this film to focus on other aspects beyond Shredder and allows them to build up to him later. But I do miss the Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki (Shredder) connection.

There’s more adaptations besides the 80’s cartoon and the 90’s movies. I’d recommend the 2003 tv series for like the first 5 seasons. Watch the other seasons if you want to be a completionist, but your enjoyment may vary. I personally enjoy them, but not as much as seasons 1-5.
The 2012 CG series has some good moments but tends to drag its feet.
Rise has some top tier animation, but tends to lean more into comedy compared to the shows that came before. Especially in the first season. But once it picks up speed and gets into the action, it’s a wild ride.

The creators confirmed several things they wanted to explore that now only serve as inspiration for fans to make fanfics of what these stories would be. Rise was very unfair, and if it was treated less badly by the "fans" and by Nickelodeon, the show would be as good as Lego Monkie Kid, their sister series! I also love the animation and how it feels messy and filthy in a good way that really resonates with the characters and story.
I really love the ending especially, seeing how the turtles and mutants are actually accepted by humanity and get a chance to live semi normal lives so early in their carers is such a bold and beautiful arc that is very refreshing for the Turtles.
I'm especially excited for the implications of what their lives will be like in the sequel and what Shredder will be like as he appears to be less of a crime leader and more of a bounty hunter, similar to Kraven the Hunter and it's be gut wrenching to see the Turtles and Mutants all get hunted down by Shredder

      1. Puss In Boots The Last Wish(It was still playing in January so I guess it can count for 2023)
      2. Super Mario Bros

I'd prefer a violent action movie than a kids oriented movie, not saying this is bad, but I feel the turtles fans have grown up now, some of the best comics are the bloody and gory ones, and no one has portrayed the turtles like that in any other media, if anyone ever does that, that will be the best piece of TMNT there will be.

Adults voicing kids is nothing new that goes back decades because of their experience, range and longevity...problem using kids/teenagers voice actors is they're going to get older and their voices change...1990 tmnt did a great job of capturing teenage aspect plenty of chemistry amongst them and the personalities/ plot depth especially with Raphael ...2023 is a different generation 30 year gap compared to teenagers of the 1990s

@@FilmSpeak That’s just the thing, the 1st TMNT movie is the gold standard. The creators were involved, it blended the comics and cartoon masterfully, the legend Jim Henson made the costumes. So when you say the film highly regarded by long time TMNT fans isn’t your thing your claim is baseless. Even if the movie is great it can never out do the 90’s movie cause it would be too much of a departure of the core concept. I just want you to understand, in the comics the more violent versions Splinter trained them as assassins (ninja) to avenge his master Yoshi. Pretty much the only time where they’re actual ninjas. In the 90’s movie they stretch the definition to mean an art of fighting in the shadows unseen but this movie they learn from watching Kung fu?? For one that’s a Chinese fighting style, ninja is Japanese but I’m guessing they all look the same in Hollywood’s eyes. Anyway, it’s fine of course if you like it but it’s not even close to the best. Somewhere between the Bay movies and the Next Mutation.

Hi there, gotta say I don't know what you are talking about when it comes to this. You open this review up by saying "I've never really been a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan" and end out the review by saying it's the "Best by far TMNT movie to date" and you even say the creatives involved understood the "Heart of these Characters and why it resonated with so many audiences". I don't really understand how you have any footing to say any of this not being a fan of anything Turtles prior to this bruh. You looked at the 1990s film, the first piece of Turtles media that felt like a perfect blend of the silly of the 87 show and comic grit and added the deep family bond, and thought "Eh that wasn't good". Really? The film was amazing and groundbreaking for what it was able to pull off for it's time. You though didn't like it, cuz the costumes weren't really doing it for you? The amazing work the Henson Company did just didn't look great for you huh? I see.
Also the Splinter displayed within this film is probably the worst version of the character I've seen in any Turtle Work. (And that is including Next Mutation and Rise of the TMNT) He feels like an off brand dollar store Splinter, that your grandmother found in a bargain bin and gave to you for you 6th Birthday four days late. Splinter has always been a master of ninjutsu, and a man with a code of honor. Whether he has been a rat turned intelligent or a man turned rat. Here though he and the turtles just found a how to do karate for beginners tape, slapped on some masks for presumably no reason, and their code they follow "Humans are evil, and will milk you". Great version of Splinter, absolute GREEAT.
Like bro you can like this overall trashy bad comedy take of Turtles all you like, I can't force you not to. But you can't say it's best TMNT movie by far, when you personally don't even care about the property. I doubt you even care about the core of each character, and you are talking about how this movie gets the "Heart" of the characters. You are right it totally does, by erasing Hamato Yoshi, erasing the Japanese influence, erasing the connection with the Shredder (Unless they retcon it somehow in the sequel I hope they don't get), and erasing key characteristics of each brother and just boiling them down to "Teenagers". Every previous version of Turtles has had each Brother feel unique, feel like an individual. This though, they just felt interchangeable and pretty much soulless. But hey at least they were finally all voiced by teenagers right? At least they did some top tier Teenager Riffs, and said stuff like "Rizz, Vibes, and Sus". Yeah dude, definitely best TMNT ever. So good, you are right.
My take - Leo's design is the best Turtle design in the whole thing, all the other Turtles look ugly especially Raph. Splinter isn't Splinter. The animation looks fluid in motion but it's wasted on this farce, and the Musical Score is top tier. All that said though, this is a bad take on the Turtles that makes a joke of the whole property on a massive level, and people are just gonna eat it up cuz it looks nice animation wise and it's "Finally" got teens in it. 4/10 Movie wise, 1/10 Turtle Movie wise. Nuff said.

Hot take. But I don’t like or dislike this version of splinter, I’ve always loved that he was with the turtles from the very beginning!! Also after reading the IDW comics I think I personally prefer the more wise, disciplined sensei. I do enjoy seeing the turtles act more as kids but I wish we would’ve gotten more stuff like in the very beginning of the movie, with them getting all their groceries in a more ninja like fashion but overall great watch! But I don’t think it’s the “BEST FORM OF MEDIA” for the TMMT that’s been out.. like cmon man 😮‍💨
