You can hold the MOD switch, then press an edit button to set the source to that control. Then you can move the fader for any destination and it will set it. Obviously if the parameter doesn't have a hardware control on the DM, then you have to use the encoder/data entry slider, but it is a nice time saver. Thanks for a great, in depth video!

Love that your reviews are so thorough that, sometimes, they are the only source to address a question. Very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to cover everything so well.
A new trick of Deepmind 12 = Integration with Omnisphere 2.6! just tried it out and it’s not just the sliders, buttons and knobs controlling omni, but even some of the menu dive options are translated. (LFO/Arp menu, etc) Works great!
I refuse to spend that amount of money on software, depending on my computersystem or Windows version... I go only for hardware. If that crashes at least all my other synths will still work :-)))
@@deauvillevrienden I normally would agree with you, however I own both the DM12 and OMNISphere and Eric does and amazing job with it for over 10 years he keeps updating it and making better each time. The v2.6 with Hardware integration is really amazing as Adam's mentions. Of course, I would rather buy a Behringer CS-80 Hardware synth than some software plugin. But with OMNISphere you really get a good way to integrate your hardware and software together and can do some cool live things with it, stacking and layers voices and using a hardware MIDI slider controller or iPad. Plus it has over 10k of sounds included and your can create and import your own samples. So, I would say it's worth checking out. Just my 2 cents.
Thank you for going over this synth - in the way that only you do. Your videos are so well thought out. I’ve owned this synth for about 3 months and have gotten pretty good with it - but as usual - because you cover it - I learn new things! You’re awesome! Thank you good sir!
My favorite stuff from this video: poly chord, the arpeggiator and how you can create custom patterns for it, the ipad and how you can more easily create control sequences, the general sound and FX... everything else can be powerfully confusing.... but man, what a synth, indeed.
I wish Behringer would provide alternative models with an LCD & digital preset save function in their analog reboots for those of us who aren't as concerned with tradition. Great review! Thanks
I have this synth my only synth…generally use Kontact libraries ..I don’t see the point of most sampled synth libraries …so limited control options. . This is a really comprehensive ,unbiased reveal of this great synth . I think this synth is a genuine bargain ..it is so versatile 🙏🙏🏿😎🎩✨🦄
this is by far the best kickoff lession for learning how to work with a deepmind by far... you should get good money for that sir! keep up the awesome work and thanks a bunch
Amazing video, thank you so much. I'm a guitarist primarily and bought my first synth for recording purposes. This video is so SO helpful. Learned so much. Thanks again.
Another excellent video. You have a real skill for teaching the basics of synthesis. I’ve played for years, but still find myself loving how you describe a normally complex concept so readily.
Thank you for your video! I must have missed the fact that the DM12's keyboard sends real velocity key-off values. Just realized it while watching the "hidden gems" section. This feature is not advertised anywhere. Had I known back then I'd have bought the keyboard version instead of the module.
I love you, Loopop. I just bought a Deepmind 12 two weeks ago and I’ve been looking for a video you may have done on it in the past. Thank you so much for releasing this. You’re the best.
My Deepmind 12 is multitimbral because i have 3 of these beauties :-)) perfect for layering 3 sounds, almost an analog equivalent of the digital JD-800 who has 4 parts :-)
This review is so good it got me over my growing disenchantment with this synth for the last two years. I must have watched it so many times it started making sense . I still can’t update with the editor. And there are still tuning issues which can be corrected by initialization of the preset when it does happen. But I have gotten better results with the matrix and that has helped a lot. I still think a firmware update to allow note entry into the sequencer directly by the keyboard which could still utilize the different style settings there as different gate clock choices etc. so thank you for helping me get settled with it. Oh and writing over the Richard Devine presets is very rewarding! Too! LOLLOL! 😂Peace Christo 👽🎶🐕🛸☮️🙏
awesome loopop. I am just now researching what will be my first analogue synth. This review and education has helped enormously. now I have to watch all your vids lol !!!
Another top notch overview, thank you. I was so close to buying Deepmind untill I watched your Minilogue XD vid, which was enough to persuade me to purchase the Korg. I'm expecting to have it delivered tomorrow. The DeepMind is truly a great synth for the price, but I think I'll be a more happy tweaker with the Minilogue - no regrets.
@@miss.antidote Sorry for the late reply, just noticed your question. I chose the XD over the deepmind mainly because I had read quite a number of reviews/reports of issues with the deepmind. The depmind seemed to be full of little quirks like noisy oscillators, whirring internal fans, handing notes and stuck LFO's etc. For me this all added up to the deepmind not quite the finished product. On the other hand the XD was such a more polished product. And that new xtra oscillator took the XD to a whole new level of versatility. I'm happy with my choice, but I also still want a deepmind too! Hope that helps(if you haven't already made your choice)
@@holygeneration7 I bought the XD as stated above. Then shortly afterwards I ended up buying the Deepmind. Both are excellent in their own way so I have no regrets. I did consider buying Prologue but my budget didn't quite get there. But when all is said and done, an XD and a DM12 are quite the combination. Happy Camper!
I truly love this synth. I always knew Behringer would be big one day and what’s crazy is that I was buying this brand as a broke musician since they were the cheapest in the late 90’s and then as a financially able musician now. Good strategy since the beginning.
@@iqi616 I just got the module yesterday. If you already have synth-action midi keyboards I'd get the module. I have an 88 key hammer action and an Akai Mpk so I decided not to take up any more room. It's very compact and space saver. Now I can use whatever keyboard that suits my needs and takes up less room.
Thank you for constantly putting out the best synth videos. Great balance between review, specs and tutorial. Giving us a great idea of how a synth will work in our own world. Deepmind is a great synth, tonally maybe not the most advanced but personally I find it incredibly quick to get where you want.

fun fact with dual mono 1/4 cables black is tip and red is ring, black is left ear channel and red is right and tip and ring refers to stereo jacks {trs} tip ring sleeve thank you for using the right holes the deepmind synth left and right are swapped when looking down at it
Thanks for this tutorial. Behringer crippled their DM12 sales with mediocre documentation and over a thousand lackluster patches instead of 128 amazing ones. FWIW, the DM12 *does* have mild analog overdrive. You can change the VCA mode from "Transparent" to "Ballzy". It clearly drives it harder and gives a little grit.
Amazingly flexible and capable for the $$. If one is not religious about purist analog circuitry, this one is a keeper even when almost 3 years old. The controls layout is awesome, love the sliders, and the tablet connectivity is a hit. Nice tutorial.
Really great content there congrats... Finally, a video that keeps focus only on subject, not one of those where presentator has to show his face every 5 secs while making children jokes
The Juno 106 was my first polysynth (a Moog Liberation was my first monosynth) and it was a perfect polysynth to learn the basics on (the Liberation was a bit too basic). You've illustrated that Behringer has hit a home run with the DM12. You've also made it clear that the DM12 is also a wonderful platform upon which to learn about synthesis basics before moving on to more advanced ideas without having to "upgrade" to a more advanced synth. I would love to see Behringer make a multi-timbral version even if it had to be turned into a VA.
Love your videos! I'm trying to decide between the Deepmind 12 and the Korg minilogue xd for my first synth. Do you have a strong recommendation in one direction or the other, given that my priorities are (1) to have something fun, inspiring, and playable and (2) to learn as much as possible about synthesis in general?
you are my hero of tonight. this tutorial is complete and i've learned a lot with it. thank you VERY much. Even if i didnt own a deepmind, it would still be useful, and i've been using synths since the late 90's (but never had a clear tutorial like yurs, i guess). cheers to you!
Thank you. What a clear and precise way to educate - even learnt something about Synths and been playing for 40 years, well done keep up the good work.
46:25 - that cancellation technique using note# is clever as hell. the compare to skip the effects DSP fx engine restart is also clever as hell! haha really awesome tips.
Nice video! only one tip, there are a lot of shortcuts on this thing, but specially nice i find the mod matrix ones, let me explain: If you keep the "mod" button pressed and then touch a source or destination (depending on what's selected on the screen) you can set almost everything like this, i e: - select the mod matrix, source slot 1 - press mod button and move the mod wheel. - select the destination, - press (and keep pressed) mod button and move the cuttoff slider - Profit! There are some other shortcuts (press and keep edit buttons on lfos to select the wavefom with their rate slider), I don't even think that I know them all . Thanks for the video man, keep it up, after many synths I find the deempind to be quite special and it totally holds it's own.
As always ..an outstanding video demo. This is a similar format to the way we did the 01x video tutorial at Yamaha ..but the format..style and delivery is world class here.. Your videos tipped it for my D
Had a DM 2 years but still learnt a lot from this video. You've researched this great synth very well Loopop. One thing owners might like to try is using the control sequencer as a note sequencer as shown in the video, and combining it with the arpeggiator. By slowing the control sequencer you can get nearly the same function as the Minilogue XD's note sequencer, ie 32 continuous measures of an arp sequence that's changing pitch. The DM is a terrific synth!
Best Video on the DM i have seen so far. Thank you very much. But this time you cannot make me want to buy one. Like you always do in your videos. Because I own one already :)
Buying a DM12 was the best thing I ever did for my synth collection. Anyone who owns one of these - do yourself a favour and wipe at least one of the preset banks, making your own patches on one of these is where all of the value lies.
I could not agree with you more! Purchasing the DM12 was one of the best decisions I made. I use the DM12 as much (sometimes more) than my DSI board (which costs 3x as much). Behringer knocked this one out of the park. Its not just the bang for the buck--this synth is incredibly flexible, sounds fantastic, and is a little gem ;) (loopop) once again lays down one of the the best reviews out there!
Hi, This has been so helpful to me. You have a wonderful way of simplifying complex (or seemingly complex) stuff. In fact you are my go to guy when I want to understand my gear better. One thing I am curious about is what goes on before you record your videos. I would love to see a new video of how you explore a new piece of gear. Your process seems to get to the heart of what a synth/keyboard/etc is capable of. I think that video would be incredibly helpful for many people. To adopt your discovery process (what we don't see). The older we get the harder it seems to really deep dive our gear. Thank you for all that you give and your simple approach is a huge benefit to many of us. Cheers!

simply the best presentation of the deepmind i´ve ever seen...
Loopop you are the most informative source out here. I feel like class is in session when I check out your synth vids. Keep doing what you do, I appreciate it!
Thanks very much!
(LFO/Arp menu, etc)
Works great!
So nice detailed review. Your point of view is what I was missing about this synth, and helps me understand the value of it. Thank you!
This synth is finally getting respect. It’s amazing.
Loopop !.... you are really a master to present gear... all your videos are simply amazing... a very good job !!!...thank you so much !
I purchased this synth because of this - no regrets so far, after almost 6 months still only scratched the surface. Thanks loopop
I think im going to get this over the minilogue
Such an awesome video. So comprehensive, so well delivered. I come back here for a refresher every couple of months!
Surprised by what sounds I can get out of this thing every time I turn it on. So fun to play with. Great video!
Thank you for going over this synth - in the way that only you do. Your videos are so well thought out. I’ve owned this synth for about 3 months and have gotten pretty good with it - but as usual - because you cover it - I learn new things! You’re awesome!
Thank you good sir!
Thank you for this! I've been praising the deepmind for a long time, happy to see it represented by one of the best.
What a small world. Im here getting watching more deepmind videos after seeing Jorb's deepmind video which gave me bad G.A.S !
@@benbauer1065 Thanks for this, 2 years ago I already knew what I was all about. Lol! 😂🙏🙏
Thanks
Damn, was thinking about buying this and now I see an actual in depth tutorial. I’m definitely buying this.
Thanks! I don't take money from manufacturers but there is a Patreon with a pretty nice book I hear :)
This synth amazes me more and more every time I play it. I use it probably more than any other synth I have at this point. What a gem.
The best review of this synth in the Internet. Thanks a lot!
Amazing work! Even as a long time owner I found it entertaining to watch and it gave me some new ideas.
Always come to this channel for the best deep dives on RUclips!!
Loopop: knowing more than me about the synths I've had for years since 184BC
This is by far the best in-depth of the Deepmind out there, super helpful and insightful. Thank-You! ✌🏻
I got a DM6. It's sweet and powerful at the same time. a rewarding and inspiring piece of equipment not to mention the price.
Incredible tutorial, as usual. Whenever I am interested in buying a new piece of gear, I check to see if loopop did a video on it. Thank you man.
Bro, you're such a legend, love tuning into your wisdom and clarity on all the synths but especially on the deep mind.
I love you for this loopop. I've had my DM12 for about a year now. I'm so glad I bought this baby
This review was amazing and in depth. You do excellent work and I just wanted to say Thank You!
It’s 2024 and I’m getting this!! Great tutorial.
tech insights and always some theoretical/practical synthesis knowledge on the side chain. your channel has a great value for beginners. thanks
You have the best reviews! Clear, informative and no BS!
awesome loopop.
The DeepMind is truly a great synth for the price, but I think I'll be a more happy tweaker with the Minilogue - no regrets.
any reason you choose the Korg? i am so torn between the 2 and the digitone lol
Probably the most informative machine specific video I've ever seen.
I truly love this synth. I always knew Behringer would be big one day and what’s crazy is that I was buying this brand as a broke musician since they were the cheapest in the late 90’s and then as a financially able musician now. Good strategy since the beginning.
I have DM 6 coming back to this vid. Always inspires me. Thanks so much. I am just a little supporter of your channel.
It was a keeper for me. I use it as my main MIDI controller as well.
I'd been thinking about the module but it cries out to me to get the full one even if I have to sell something to make room.
I love your presets. You need to make more patches for this and sell them.
Wow… I’ve had a deep mind 12 for a few years now. After this video I have a whole new synth. Thanks loop!
You are a beast! Thank you! I bought my Deepmind 12 after watching your video, you explained everything and the best way!
Also, you told us some gems you probably don't discover sp easily, Behringer should hire you for official tutorials
Thank you for constantly putting out the best synth videos. Great balance between review, specs and tutorial. Giving us a great idea of how a synth will work in our own world.
Deepmind is a great synth, tonally maybe not the most advanced but personally I find it incredibly quick to get where you want.
What an amazing, articulate, logical and informative tutorial. Brilliant.
And a really nice voice that gives Dan Worrall a run for his money.
Thank you 🍻
About to buy a Deepmind now 🥇
Thanks! I have a dream where I get Dan to narrate one of my videos...
@@loopop 🤣
btw a shortcut for setting modulation source/destination = hold down mod button then touch in turn the source then destination fader/wheel etc.
Thanks internet :)

fun fact with dual mono 1/4 cables black is tip and red is ring, black is left ear channel and red is right and tip and ring refers to stereo jacks {trs} tip ring sleeve thank you for using the right holes the deepmind synth left and right are swapped when looking down at it
Thanks for this tutorial.
You have the most comprehensive reviews man. Great work.
Jesus. You are a genius. It would take me the rest of my life to figure this stuff out lol.
my Deepmind 12 got delivered yesterday and haven't had much chance to play around with it yet, but this gives me a great starting point
Really great content there congrats... Finally, a video that keeps focus only on subject, not one of those where presentator has to show his face every 5 secs while making children jokes
This may be the best tutorial for this synth. Well done.
Thank you Loopop for another amazing review, now i am starting to know better my new Deepmind 12 😊
Thanks! Both will do well for 1 and 2, go with what sounds better to you
you are my hero of tonight. this tutorial is complete and i've learned a lot with it. thank you VERY much.
Nice video! only one tip, there are a lot of shortcuts on this thing, but specially nice i find the mod matrix ones, let me explain:
If you keep the "mod" button pressed and then touch a source or destination (depending on what's selected on the screen) you can set almost everything like this, i e:
- select the mod matrix, source slot 1
- press mod button and move the mod wheel.
- select the destination,
- press (and keep pressed) mod button and move the cuttoff slider
- Profit!
There are some other shortcuts (press and keep edit buttons on lfos to select the wavefom with their rate slider), I don't even think that I know them all .
Thanks for the video man, keep it up, after many synths I find the deempind to be quite special and it totally holds it's own.
Thanks - yep I showed the EDIT + LFO but indeed forgot to show the mod matrix shortcut!
As always ..an outstanding video demo. This is a similar format to the way we did the 01x video tutorial at Yamaha ..but the format..style and delivery is world class here.. Your videos tipped it for my D
Deepmind purchase .. nice work
Had a DM 2 years but still learnt a lot from this video.
Cant believe I missed this one Loopop owning DM12 😬😂🙌
Thanks as always...you know we all really appreciate you😉😎
Incredible synthesis lesson!!
It could not be explained better.
Thanks!
I just want to congratulate you for getting those screen insets to look the same from different camera angles.
Best Video on the DM i have seen so far. Thank you very much. But this time you cannot make me want to buy one. Like you always do in your videos. Because I own one already :)
My favorite synthesizer. Powerful beast. Love it so much!
Awesome tutorial. It's videos like this that sell this synth. I hope you got a big thank you from Behringer !
This by far one of the best tutorials I've seen
Thank you! I just got the deepmind 6 and this is a video I'll keep referring back to.
Buying a DM12 was the best thing I ever did for my synth collection. Anyone who owns one of these - do yourself a favour and wipe at least one of the preset banks, making your own patches on one of these is where all of the value lies.
Making your own patches is where the value of all synths lie.
Hi! Do you often regret that it doesn't have the triangle waveform in the oscillators?
@@KiR_3d nope, it's not my only synth but it does more than enough to fill my needs as a main synth.
@@squoblat let's say... if it was your only analog polysynth? :)
Cheers!
Wow, you have the best tutorial/demos I’ve ever seen… I’m glad I saw this before getting the Korg Minilogue XD module. The DeepMind12 module is only $50 more and has 3x the voices and all of the other features mentioned here. I’ve never been a fan of this brand, however you can’t beat the value you get out of this thing.
