  • Current average price of an AC tune-up: $255.56
You tune up your car. You tune up your bicycle. You even tune up your musical instruments. But when fall and winter give way to spring and summer - and vice versa - did you know you should be having your home’s HVAC system tuned up, too?
If you wanna keep your home’s climate control system controlling your home’s climate, you really should be having your heating, ventilation and air conditioning components regularly maintained by a licensed professional.
Benefits of routine HVAC tune-ups include:
    - Lower energy costs and greater ecofriendliness
    - Preventing pricey repairs
    - More reliable performance and improved comfort
    - Improved air quality in your home
    - Increasing the lifespan of your system
    - Ensuring your warranty remains valid
    - Preventing hazards like carbon monoxide leaks or burst frozen pipes
While tending to one’s own household maintenance obligations can be rewarding and is, in many cases, doable if not necessary, some tasks are just too much to ask of your everyday DIYer. That’s why we called in reinforcements for this particular project. Our HomeServe homie, Randy Boutte, who’s a bona fide HomeServe HVAC tech, showed us what an AC tune-up comprises and what homeowners should expect in terms of time, cost, labor … and sweat.
Watch the video and let us know what you think in the comments section, homeowners: Is this a DIY dilemma, or a problem for the pros?

What about sucking out the condensate line? That's always good to check too! And easy to do!

I replied to you but my comment "mysteriously" disappeared. You're correct! Also, *prevent* clogs in the first place through regular condensate drain line cleaning: ruclips.net/video/Fuy6GIo6_94/видео.htmlsi=WjFK5feO0AI1cEtk

Good video! Although, you should do a follow up video on how to find a competent, trustworthy HVAC tech/company in your local area. What things should someone look for when selecting an HVAC company to do seasonal tune up work? ( How to find someone that doesn’t charge $250 bucks to replace a capacitor and/or charge you $300 a pound for a refrigerant top off on top of a $150 call out fee. Easier said than done where I live in California…Lol…smh)

how do we know if the technician is honest and not selling us things we dont need and repairing parts we dont need. always scared to call one cause I hear so many companies charge much more than its needed.

That's always a concern with an unvetted technician. Having one you trust is a huge relief. For our purposes with respect to this particular video, scheduling an annual or bi-annual HVAC tune-up can prevent many of the problems that lead to the need for an emergency repair, therefore keeping the homeowner out the position where they're under the gun to get it fixed asap. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," is a cliche but it's a good one!🤘
