My Jeep Gladiator gets 12mpg towing my 17ft camper. It is nice to leave the camper at a “Base Camp” and drive around empty but it severely limits where I’m willing to go when I’m towing between campsites. With the truck camper, I used to explore a lot more, with no concern about small roads and turning around. Likely going back to a truck camper.

A flatdeck(bed) truck will allow you to have a garage upto 80"
to put bicycles or electric bike in their along with tools, snowboards & & even a smaller motorbike in garage on bed between truck & camper. You can also mount a motorbike carrier on towbar to carry a bike upto 400-650cc trail bike like a Suzuki Drz 400-650 or Ducat 659-698 Hypermotard both weigh about 160kg or a Yahmha Wr250 etc.

Thanks for the perspective. My wife and I have a 2018 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x2 with a cargo capacity of 2,399 lbs. We also have a 2017.5 Lance 1985 travel trailer that we’ve pulled at least 45,000 miles since we bought it. We often wish we had a truck camper for the convenience and flexibility. The Four Wheel Camper’s Hawk slide-in model with their new AC option could work for us and not exceed our truck’s cargo capacity. I may yet order one maxed out with solar and Lithium batteries. Price would be $55k plus.

Have you thought about getting a diesel programmer to up your mpg? And another good thing about a truck camper is the destinations you can get to opposed to a van or car. Yes I have seen crew cab trucks have great bike racks systems built in the back seats or have a garage built on the back like Dustin porter has.

I’m envy the storage of Dustin porters build! I’m trying to keep the motor as stock as possible just to keep it realiable and simple to work on.

From a medical professional give you body rest and the chance to heal, it won't kill you to just chill for a couple of days eating good food. And now, you have make a video on: Why you should buy a Truck Camper? 🙂

Truck camper here. For GEAR. Literally TONS of it. Skiing (every type), climbing (rock, ice & mountain), biking (road, mtn, trekking), Kite surfing, Wing foiling, Kayaking, Sailing (yes I have a sail rig for one of my inflatable kayaks), Fishing (every type)...

I sleep a family of 5 in my truck camper. And I sometimes tow 3 ATVs at the same time. Good times. Your points are all valid though. My wife doesn't like how cramped it is. But I still love the truck camper

Hope your feeling better, Great points about the truck/Storage...I love my motorcycle and would be okay with it inside my living space. Looking at 07 E350 w 14 ft box w ramp. 2wd is a negative...and doing a build out (1st) non carpenter/electrician...scary..I don't need a Glam van..I need a warm/cool place to live. Ugh. The struggle is real.

Yes, I definitely love the mobility of my regular cab truck but a crew cab would solve a lot of problems! Can do a 4x4 conversion to a e350… just a lot of work or a lot of money 💰 or both 😂

@@KevinWaldsAdventures I don't think I would do the conversion. Not reliable enough (IMHO). And yes, the cost is too high. Time will tell, but great video on the subject. Feel better.

What about scooching out at the bottom of the bed?
Is that an issue at all?

Pop those vitamins, always eat something (no starving BS) don’t allow yourself to be chilled, n be a sloth n you will fight the bug faster 👊🏼. The slopes r calling your name! 😃
    All great advice!
I have a NL, big one, n no way could I live in it full-time with another person 😱, 😂.
Problem with vans, is first u would want the Europe style with the bed that comes down from the roof at the back, so you’re not setting up bed every night 🙄. But vans suck for any tank sizes. Fine for a weekend but long term 😝. So then you be looking at class c , a cutaway chassis (B+ ain’t a class) for better tank sizes. But if your vehicle has an issue you’re doing a hotel but with truck camper you can pop camper off. So imo, I stay with my stuff, n I still have descent tank sizes. Hard sided truck camper rules in NA, until those better made compact Europe class C’s with big back storage compartments and decent price make it over here, lol🍻
