Thank you. You’re so kind to share your knowledge. So clear and easy to understand. Our doctors don’t have time to talk to us like this-because of the pressures of insurance companies. I really appreciate this. I was nervous after learning that my AST is 39, not so much anymore, but I’ll still email the doctor just as in case, as you suggested this is for informational purposes only. You’re such a wonderful person for sharing your knowledge. :-)

Liver enzymes can be affected by a number of variables - for instance, I started an intense weightlifting 6 day per week routine. My enzymes were high, 180 and 80. I discussed with a physician friend of mine who told me not to worry. I took a few days off from lifting prior to my next blood test (and my body had become more accustomed to the routine), and they were back to normal/near normal.

@BabyGangsterIsMe I've thought of slightly abnormal liver enzymes as analogous to a skin rash: it CAN be indicative of a serious issue, but it could also be caused by a number of fairly innocuous issues. Bottom line: Keep an eye on it, but certainly don't jump to conclusions about your overall health based just on this one factor.

I lift weights (seriously) and my liver enzymes are high as well! I slowed down in the last 10 days, took a test, and they lowered down (still out of range though) but went down ! 🥲😅

@erikageraci8945 Mine were still a little high, too. Much better than before though. There are a few good medical journal articles that you can find online that are directly on-point. I felt a huge relief when I realized the connection with weightlifting!

67 yr old female non-smoker, non-drinker, trying to be vegan and went off of veganism last year in 2022. Consequently, I my AST went from 36 from check up in March to 42 this check up in Sept, and ALT went from 46 to 68. I am currently taking TUDCA and milk thistle and such with my doctor's approval and going back to veganism strictly ( and this time I really mean it!) Thanks for great video. I bought a pack of gall bladder & liver test kit with strips. My tests have shown 6.5 pH and other markers that look either one step low or normal with color guide but the didn't include an instruction sheet. Cholesterol went from 140 to 180 in short time I went back to animal products. I would love to hear any advice. Great channel, liked and subbed.

I had an FibroScan taken yesterday 5/29/2024 and I have no clue how true anything is .
She shows me a number of 250 ( not really knowing what that meant ).
I'll wait until the test arrives and then I'll go to my own Doctor and then "maybe" Hepatologist.
I'm not going to get overwhelmed at this time. I have plenty of other health issues I have been
working on. *I don't drink alcohol or smoke at all* *I only drink Water through my Berkey*
*I'm working on my weight* *My diet is Keto at the time, if I need to change, then I'll do it at the right time* .
*I exercise 5 days a week* I will ask family member who's the Best Hepatologist in the region, since they
are in the medical field and if I really need this specialist, Wait and See.
*I always bring my spouse with me to understand the results* .

I completely lost my appetite and could only drink and take non-solids. I am still unable to eat very much food now. I was 83 years old when that happened. I think this video has helped me a bit because the way doctors would explain it to me is confusing. 25 for ast can be normal but for alt slightly over 55 or 56 isnt too bad unless they are constant correct? As long as if you avoid or limit certain foods like fried food red meat or alcohol youll be okay right? And you must avoid alcohol 48 hours before a liver function blood test right doctor?

    • @swintegrative
      @swintegrative  2 дня назад +1

"alt slightly over 55 or 56 isnt too bad unless they are constant correct?" no not completely if you are getting 50 plus on ALT there is something effecting your liver when these are high. if it goes back down that is good and could be from exercise. But it could also be from some unknown things so have to be mindful of that. lots of people have insulin resitnce and fatty liver.

No one ever addresses where the AST is higher than the ALT, but both are in the normal range. My AST is 21 and my ALT is 17. Well, if you plug those numbers into a ratio calculator, you get 1.24, which indicates that is “indicative of cirrhosis.” However, my Dr says it is nothing to worry about. Which is it?

For the past month I have changed my diet, drink 2L water daily, take walks and touch NO alcohol or sodas. My ggt came down to 285 but alt went to 95? Ultra sound shows liver is nornaml in size, light echogenic. Pancreas, gallbladder and kidneys normal also. Anything more is lightly elevated if your in 95 your close to slightly elevated but nothing to be panicked about. Your Diet, cut sugar and salt and eat healthier no junk food. Also when i started going to gym my elevations came down it helps. Drink Coffee brings elevations down. Depending on the supplement yes but there has to be something in it that is damaging the liver cells. So if there is adulterations (maybe heavy metals or other toxin) that should not be in there for instance.

@@swintegrative the reason I asked about the supplements is because last year I was seeing a gastroenterologist for my liver enzymes I was also taking a lot of supplements for osteoporosis around 12 different supplements so he told me for three months to stop taking all of my supplements and come back in 3 months do blood work so I went back three months later no supplements in my system then the blood test showed that my liver enzymes went drastically down
So he told me to only take vitamin D3 because I was low and he told me not to take any supplements only vitamin D3 then I went back to my primary caregiver I told her I didn't feel comfortable only taking vitamin D3 because of my osteoporosis I felt that D3 wouldn't be enough, so I added a couple of other supplements an herbal supplement for bone health an herbal vitamin C along with my vitamin D3 so I had my next blood work done in January and they showed my liver enzymes went up a little bit ,, since then I switch supplements so currently I'm taking The garden of Life brand Brow Bone,
Magnesium fish oil and I'm still taking the vitamin D3, but I also take ashwagandha maca powder and spirulina so I'm worried that next time I have my blood work which is in April I'm worried if it'll show that my liver enzymes have gone up from taking my supplements but I need my supplements for my bones and overall health, I saw one of your past videos where you mentioned that exercise can increase liver enzymes I do work out,, working out is part of my osteoporosis treatment routine
So now I'm just concerned, I eat a healthy diet, I eat healthy fats from both plant and animal foods and I also eat sugar from fruits but no added sugars , fats and sugar seem to also be blamed for liver enzyme problems I just don't know what to do!!
