    My husband went in the hospital on 10/05/23. Diagnosed with liver, congestive heart and kidney failure and a collapsed lung from all the acities. I was told that I would never bring him home. He was transferred to GW in DC then to John’s Hopkins’s. His Meld score in beginning of Dec was 33, his February appointment meld score is down to 6. He walked a 1k race in June.

    • @Redneckkenobi
      @Redneckkenobi  Месяц назад +17

      What caused all the failures? 6 is the lowest MELD score you can get. A normal person has 6. It’s a mathematical equation that the lowest is 6 and the highest is 40 but 33 was super high. There are many types of liver disease too. Does he have cirrhosis? I’ve seen where all 3 like that get bad together, it’s obviously to do with the liver but I forgot what they called it. Renal failure or something I think. But that had to be scary.

      A lot of times this is a snapshot in time thing. A dramatic presentation by a doctor should not be trusted. I worked inappropriately hospital and the prestige of a program is based on five year survival rates. A lot of times they are anti-white racists practicing Judaism who will use you as a guinea pig which was the case oat the Unit I worked at. One surgeon from the Unit actually wrote a “fiction” book “Heartland for Profit” which was really an accurate portrayal of what the nurse’s knew was happening which was performing operations on healthy patients, one of which was a college student.

    My brother drank himself to death, he slowly deteriorated over the years as we sat by helplessly watching him Kill himself, he was also diabetic and stopped taking his medication, i begged him to stop but he couldn’t stop because he would get the shakes real bad without the alcohol, he went through rehab 4 times but the 5th time the doctor told my mother he wouldn’t survive the treatment, i never knew he was this sick as my mother withheld this information from the whole familythe last time i saw my brother he kept saying i love you and i thought this behavior was very weird, my older brother called me at work on a Monday morning 4 days after his birthday, i was informed that my brother passed away after having a heart attack, he crawled down a hallway all alone throwing up blood that appeared to look like coffee grounds in his blood. I should have tried harder to save him and to this day i blame myself for not trying harder. I hope this scares people enough to stop drinking, i hope this helps anybody that’s willing to read this and listen, i miss my brother every day and can’t imagine the physical and psychological pain that he went through, he’s in heaven now with my grandmother and sister-in-law.

      I’m sorry for your loss, you can’t blame yourself, it was his decision. At that point there was nothing you could do. It’s so hard to see how it affects family. It’s tough but the blood was from vericies that are veins that shouldn’t be in the esophagus. It’s from portal hypertension, restriction in the main artery that flows through the liver. There is no way you could have stopped that. Those veins were probably there for years. Again I’m so so sorry, but I’m sure he would want you to move on and be happy. Hang in there

He was not a good candidate for transplant because he also had treated Fournier's gangrene unrelated to the cirrhosis. His chance of Fournier's coming back was high. Hey Brother I live in Colorado and I drank like a fish until I turned 27 and I just got tired of being hungover every day so I just stopped and its been 15 years since my last drink but I live with a chronic pancreatitis as a result of my bad choices in the past, I get admitted to the hospital like 10 times a year with terrible pain when my pancreas decides to digest itself because it is leaking digestive fluid all the time, my liver counts have been a little elevated all my life but now I have cyclic vomiting so they decided to put in a GJ Tube and now I had it for a year and they refuse to take it out. I will pray for your health brother, due to my health I can relate to your health issues, I pray that we get better because we are in our 40s and we are too young for this crap. God Bless

      I’ve had acute pancreatitis 4 times. In the beginning I was drinking like a fish morning noon night. First time was the worst time, I was 24 years old. I try to eat healthy now, was 3 years sober, I relapsed a few years ago and still have some wine now every night. I need to stop or it’s gonna be too late. I can’t gamble with it or take it for granted. I’m going to end up too late if I don’t turn this around. Despite being fit now and eating well. I can’t do this to myself anymore. I want to live, I just wish there was an alternative that felt similar to the effects of booze that wasn’t so dangerous or life altering. Your story pains my heart to the core, thank you for sharing

      @@chrysophylax7199 After my chronic pancreatitis was diagnosed I was put on morphine sulphate 100mg x 3 a day and I was without pain but I was out of it and sleeping 18 hours a day so after a year I transferred to methadone and it saved my life because it takes all pain away but it also gives you energy and it took away my depression and anxiety and it made it a breeze to stop drinking, methadone makes you feel really good for like 20 hours on a single day dose so my brain stopped looking for any other drug, medicine or chemical. People on methadone are just good and don't need to take anything else. The increase of dopamine end endorphins is so pleasant that no one on methadone drinks or uses any drugs anymore from day one. Methadone is also free unlike beer or drugs were and it gives you a boost of energy with happiness that changes your life. It's also easy to sign up at a clinic, they open at 5am every morning and I'm at phase 5 so I get a month worth I put in a lockbox when I go to pick it up every 4th Friday. I helped 11 of my friends that had a hard time with alcohol or substances along with depression and anxiety to get into the clinic and it has changed their lives , They are all now happy and positive members of society without any mental health issues. Part of the reason I stopped drinking is because at 64, I knew if I got sick there would be no one there to assist, to drive me places or go shopping or whatever. I do have a couple of friends nearby after moving out of state but I only talk to them every few months and like you, I feel like I would be a burden. And you are absolutely correct that you should find some new interests if you can't participate in your old ones anymore. I'm retired and did just that accidentally. If I didn't find an interest that I am passionate about, I would probably sit around and drink myself into an early grave. What I do is help people find their lost pets. I acquired the training, equipment and experience on how to do that and I'm very motivated because many people see their pets as family and it's devastating to lose them and extremely rewarding if I find them. I do this on a volunteer basis on my own, but there must some kind of volunteer organization that fits the interest and passion of just about everyone. Keep on fighting brother.

      @Dodgerzden 21 день назад

      @@Redneckkenobi That's a great hobby because it's so unique. Everyone cares about cats and dogs, but who's looking out for the reptiles? Coincidentally, I helped someone find their lost 90 pound Sulcata tortoise. I don't know anything about reptiles but the owner just happened to be walking down the street when I happened to be outside and asked me if I saw him. We both thought someone probably took him inside because they thought it was cool. So I put up a couple of neon posters and the next day she found him right down the road. Someone probably took him and got nervous when they saw the posters.

    To anyone who drinks alcohol in any capacity, one of the most overlooked secondary conditions is damage to your esophagus. If you take a sip or a shot, immediately follow with 3 swallow of water. My father drank whiskey daily. His liver was ok, but he died from esophageal cancer. So many people damage their esophagus from having alcohol, a known carcinogen, lingering on the esophagus. I'm not advocating drinking because it will cost you your health, but if you partake, wash it down with H2O.

    • @Redneckkenobi
      @Redneckkenobi  15 дней назад

      @@vinnie1711 I do agree with you. Alcohol can do alot of damage to a lot of body parts. My esophagus issues isn’t from the alcohol. It’s neurological. My brain doesn’t communicate with it properly and it will close on the food and hold it there. Or cause it to come back up or the muscle will activate in the wrong order. I got my wires crossed lol. I’ve never heard of the water thing but I can see what you’re saying.

    Wow, im glad that you eventually decided to go to the doctor. Sometimes just going is the hardest part for people because they are scared of what the doctor might find.
    It sounds like you wouldnt be here today if you wouldnt have gone in, due to the fluid filling your lung & stomach.
    Im glad you seem to be doing better now. Keeping a positive mindset is a very important part. The mind controls the body, so if you stay positive and confident You will find that you will do better physically as well. Of course it will not make it go away, but a strong positive mind will most definitely keep you healthier than a negative mindset.

Because she was a nurse and worked in the hospital, she had the opportunity to be treated with interferon which affected her mentally and emotionally so profoundly that she asked that they stop the treatment which they did. She retired from work and lived another twenty years before succumbing to cirrhosis at 76. Although she opted out of the full course of treatments with the interferon, I'm sure she lived another fifteen years longer than she would have without it.

    You need to drink at least two liters of pure water a day and consume milk thistle capsules 3 times a day. In your case, the diet should be based on antioxidants, lots of raw vegetables and no fats, fruits should be very limited due to their fructose content. No carbohydrates like potatoes, rice and pasta. This way you will heal, it works for me having everything to lose. A hug and encouragement in this new stage to live with a new meaning that you find, that is the most important thing.
