    “Fatty liver” literally means your liver fills with fat, which paves the way for chronic disease and inflammation. Fatty liver is a dangerous yet misunderstood disease. It is also very common, affecting 90 million Americans alone. You need a healthy liver to combat toxic junk and chemicals in your environment. A healthy liver means your body stays healthy, you don’t get sick, and you maintain plenty of energy. A fatty liver, on the other hand, has numerous repercussions including inflammation, which triggers insulin resistance and prediabetes, meaning your body deposits fat in your liver and organs, including your belly (called visceral fat). Fatty liver can also lead to more serious problems including high triglycerides, low HDL (“good” cholesterol), and high amounts of small LDL (dangerous cholesterol particles that can cause heart attacks). Fatty liver also increases your heart attack risk.
    In today’s episode of my series I’m calling Health Bites, I am talking about how to identify if you have fatty liver, what’s causing it, and how to fix it.
    This episode is brought to you by Rupa Health and Athletic Greens.
    Rupa Health is a place where Functional Medicine practitioners can access more than 2,000 specialty lab tests from over 20 labs like DUTCH, Vibrant America, Genova, and Great Plains. You can check out a free, live demo with a Q&A or create an account at RupaHealth.com.

    3 months ago I was shocked when my GP told me my blood test showed high enzymes in my liver. The symptoms I had were tiredness and a tremor in my leg. I 've never drunk any alcohol. A few weeks later I got pain in my right shoulder that wouldn't go away. My cholesterol was 6.5. I started taking 'Active Liver' capsules, drank 2 litres of water each day plus tea and coffee, went for long walks and cut down on fats. I also started eating grapefruit every day. Last week I went for a follow up blood test and I'm delighted to say that my liver enzymes are normal again. The shoulder pain has gone. Hope this helps.

    I had an abdominal CT for an unrelated matter and the doctor said it came back “perfect”. Something told me to go online and check the CT reading myself. The diagnosis was fatty liver disease. The doctor didn’t think it was any kind of a problem and didn’t think I needed to hear about it. However, it explains the fact that I have skinny arms and legs like twigs but a massive belly, I have lost 50% of my hair, high cholesterol, blood sugar problems and have thyroid and hormone problems. All of those can be explained by a toxic liver but doctors are so clueless because they don’t know anything about anything unless it’s a big Pharma symptom pill.

      Whenever you get a labs done ask for your actual numbers, not whether or not you passed or failed. They don’t even check the actual numbers it seems unless you ask because they always seems surprised when they actually look into it and realize the truth. Then when they do check for you they suddenly see if your right on the border or not. I’ve always caught health issues right before they became health issues that would need meds and then naturally got my body back into order or I wouldn’t need them. And then doctors act surprised like you did nothing to fix it when you try to tell them you chose natural solutions to fix it. 🤦🏽‍♀️ i’ve gone from borderline diabetes to perfect A1c and maybe you should take these meds for Graves’ disease to perfectly healthy thyroid, and so on. Doctors get less than 36 hours of nutritional education and the education they do get has nothing to do with actual preventative health, but rather contraindications with medications “if” they got a good education on foods.

      Same here. Had colonoscopy 3 years ago and upper GI scope. Dr. didn't telle they found fatty liver
      When I had my follow up colonoscopy this yr, I discovered they prior diagnosis when I was reading my records
      I told Dr my recent appointment that I stumbled on this info and his comment was "A lot of people have fatty liver.*. I said "but it can lead to cirosis of liver. He looked surprised and said "well if you are concerned, we can do a fibroscan" which I said I wanted. Waiting for results. I think Drs. have given up hope that patients care or will change. You MUST be your own doctor in terms of demanding answers and seeking solutions. You can't turn your health over to doctors and expect good health,IMHO.

      @@deepz513 no need for supplements, do an elimination diet, get rid of all carbs and sweeteners first, replace with 1 to 2 apples or pears a day (of melons, berries, whatever, no pineapple, no mango, they have high fructose) Pears like asian pears are my favorite, and for apples I love honeycrisps and cosmic crisps but they are high in sugar content but its has fibers to slow down the glucose process. This alone helped me lose 50 pounds in 5 months.
      If I quit all fruits and dairy, I would've lost 20-30 pounds a month, its tough, im getting there. If you do quit all forms of sweeteners and carbs, like a keto diet or carnivore, and have high fat meats and butter, your acidity levels in your blood can rise and cause headaches, which only means you need to stay hydrated all the time. at least 250ml of water per hour. Only supplement I use is magnesium and electrolytes drops for my water.
      Before adding anything to your life, you need to remove things first, or replace those with others, temporarily. do it until you reach your health goals and then have fruit again.

    I had fatty liver a few years ago. My doctor mentioned it after some test. But he just kept talking about the rest of my test. So I thought it must not be that bad. Same thing happened the next year but I then decided to check on what it meant myself. I couldn't believe he didn't seem to care or offer any advice. I have since changed my diet and life style. Lost 60 lbs so far and all my health problems are so much better. But why are doctors not telling us about this? It's so frustrating when those we trust to help us just don't.

      Your entire visit would have to be discussing those liver function tests and there were probably multiple other things that had to be addressed. The doctor should have you make a special appointment to discuss fatty liver. Sadly, poor reimbursement from insurance companies is driving the 15 minute visit.

After 6 months I was off 3 medications, lost 45lbs, cleared my liver of fat, and normalised by A1c (no longer prediabetic). After a year my weight is stable and I still avoid carbs, eating one or two meals per day. HDL up, TGL down. I eat meat, fish, eggs, bacon, and lots of green vegetables, Rarely fruit. Nothing with sugar, flour, pasta, potatoes, rice. Was I hungry?? IN the first 3 days my hunger was painful, but as the low carb diet started to have its effect, and my body fat began to burn my hunger changed to something very managable, after 2 weeks, although my gut was a bit noisy I did not really feel any of that deep hunger.

    I find it hilarious that people are pointing to gluten. Back in the seventies, when I was a kid) people ate all kinds of gluten and people weren’t sick like today. No one is talking about what they have been spraying on the oats and wheat until recently, maybe that’s the problem?

    • @The_New_Abnormal_World_Order
      @The_New_Abnormal_World_Order 2 месяца назад +4

      Wheat was hybridised in the 1950's, and this went worldwide during the 1970's. This modern form of wheat is the problem, all the spraying probably doesn't help either.

    • @alisonbamford6723
      @alisonbamford6723 2 месяца назад +4

      It’s highly processed & refined now. Highly hybridised (so hybridised it’s probably wrong to even call it wheat!). Sprayed to within an inch of its life with an array of toxic chemicals. At the milling process, stripped of its ‘nutritional powerhouses’ the germ & bran (sold for profit to the supplements & ’costmetics’ industries), leaving nothing but the endosperm - the starch, sugars & gluten proteins, with none of the huge array of minerals, vitamins & phytonutrients the body needs in order to digest & utilise it with.
      If that wasn’t enough, it’s also put through the ‘fast-track’ Chorleywood’ process that churns out loaves within 2 hours or less - giving not nearly enough time for the yeasts to work on & pre-digest the sugars, starches & proteins so that we can digest it far more easily.
      My husband is very gluten sensitive. However, he can tolerate a bit of my traditionally made slow-rise (overnight in the refrigerator) bread (with no loose flour). If made with sourdough, it’s even better as the sourdough contains far more than the just one strain Saccharomyces Cervisiae yeast used by most bakeries, & the multi-strains generate even more nutrients (especially B vitamins, so crucial for digestion).
      It’s so mucked & meddled about with now that it may be pretty impossible to find any of the real original wheat strains grown back in Jesus’s day, for instance. Every time man tries to ‘improve’ our food, it’s removed further & further away from the hugely nourishing & beneficial food it once was.

    Corn crops are prone to fungal infection. The reason that Hispanic people are more prone to fatty liver is that their diet is HIGH in corn. It is not actually the corn or wheat that is the problem, but the fungi that come with these crops. The fungal infection in the corn produces mycotoxins and aflatoxins, and these are known to be the root cause of the disease in humans. High fructose corn syrup is put in so many foods due to being cheap, but it comes with the mycotoxins and aflatoxins which trigger cancer, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, etc. Cut out the foods prone to fungal infection, increase antifungal supplements, and you'll find your health improves overall.

    I got rid of my fatty liver in just over a year. I drink too much and at a medical asked my doctor is it because of alcohol. He said no it's because of carbs which I found odd. Turns out your liver digest carbs, not your stomach. But when you eat carbs along with alcohol, your liver prioritizes dealing with alcohol as it's a poison. The carbs get squished away in a queue as it were causing the problem. So drinking alcohol with a meal that includes carbs is a bad idea. So from then on I kept carbs and alcohol apart. That was all I did and the fatty liver went. But frankly most people need to eat healthier and avoid nasty 'food like substances' that are sold to us in shiny packaging. Good luck to you.

    I've been diagnosed with FLD recently. I haven't had any soda or any juices for at least 30 years. I have completely cut all sugars except fruits for at least 15 years. My diet is fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, sardines. Pretty much Mediterranean diet. I'm 5' 5" weigh about 133 lbs. It isn't what you eat, it's sedentary lifestyle and high stress IMO. It's too simplistic to blame certain food. If we control stress and exercise, we should be able to enjoy unhealthy foods in moderation. Btw, my mother is almost 96 and hasn't gone a day without sugar 🙂

    Genetics and extremely low frequency can contribute as a primary. Besides processed sugar.

    Thank you for this video. My doctor put me on milk thistle 30 years ago and it certainly works. Now I am adding daily Nac. I was always fit till 12 years ago when I received a head injury the gained 60 pounds over the five years of recovery. Your information helps reassure me of improvements I need. Also, I had no idea there was fructose in tomato sauce, darn it.

      Wow, who knew there was a connection between head injury and weight gain? Can anyone tell me more about this as I’ve had several head injuries in the last few years and I’ve gained weight when I never gained weight before and it seems to be resistant to everything I’m trying - keto especially ?! 😢

    • @livingthelava
      @livingthelava 8 месяцев назад +4

      @@LindaHutchings first, the head injury change my personality. I lost my ability to be patient, count past 10, know family names. However, I contribute the weight gain to taking 5 years to walk again.
      I can tell you, while I can’t run effectively, I overcame all my memory and muscle commas losses by going to college and earning a BA then a MA. Which means I had to perform the same level of math as all other students. Which I did via video so I could replay equations instruction a hundred times. (For two years I could only take baby steps and not walk up slopes). And going to the gym routinely was a vital key. Now I just have to loose those 60 pounds.

      @@SamBellPilates I still advocate daily or other daily vigorous exercise. The brain has to be taught to reconnect to every muscle and organ. I still make sure I do more work, carry more things in my non-responsive left arm and leg, than my good side. Otherwise it wants to atrophy on me. Btw the brain will build new connections fast. Whatever was lost, the brain will build around.

    I was just diagnosed by CT scan last week.
    My NP and ER thought I had appendicitis 3-4 weeks ago - the pain was so intense my skin hurt.
    I never have soda, have 30 or so various seasoned/herbal teas - no sugar added - I brew by the gallon, to drink through the day,
    do not eat processed foods, luv chicken and fresh vegetables and prepare lots of Indian and Asian foods with peppers and chilis.
    I s'pose Basmati rice is considered bad, which I usually enjoy 3-4 times a week, but I can do without.
    SO happy to have discovered this early on.

      For most people a gallon of liquid to drink in a day is way too much and it also causes vitamins to be flushed away.

    Pate and Foie Gras are NOT the same thing. They have similar textures but Foie Gras is the one made from force feeding geese until their livers burst. I eat pate but will NOT TOUCH the other.
