Omg love this video. I am a current school social worker and I am thankful that I can easily build rapport with the students but setting boundaries has been difficult for me. I have a few students that try to come to me because they want to ditch class and I have other students who are very emotional and needs/wants to talk to me throughout the day because they have a lot going on at home but refuse to be linked to outside mental health services. I struggle with this because I don’t want to be dismissive of the student’s feelings or for them to think I don’t care.
This was a very well done video and explanation of clinical social work in a high school setting. I am an LCSW who has been in county mental health serving adults for the past 13 years. I am pivoting to the school district and will be the new Community Schools Program Specialist, at the high school. This was very helpful in priming my mind for this work. I am earning my PPS-SC and the professor referred us to your channel. Keep up the great work!
I just wanted to say that I LOVE your videos. I have been a social worker for the past three years, but this is my first year as a school social worker.
Great info. I'm a semi- retired worker who's taken a ten-hour/week virtual school social worker position in a small rural district. Because my kid and staff contacts will be remote (Zoom, phone), this will be a challenge. And, I've not done school social work before. So, this series is very helpful. Thanks for taking time to create these videos.
Thank you so much! I want to transition from working in the Committee of Special Education to an elementary school. What basic strategies you recommend? TIA
