My counselor told me that it was safe to talk about my problems to her and she told the whole school while acting like i was a problem child with a mental disability
wow so different than I remember in high school. My guidance counselor never talked to me at all, maybe once.

Yes I am b. a in psychology and i have worked in padhegabharat healthy globe virtual smart education Ltd having 4 months experience in educational counselor. So i have search for school counselor.
Just one thing: graduating successfully isn't necessarily a common goal. Some students might hate high school and can't wait to get out. I know many successful entrepreneurs who didn't graduate successfully who went on to do amazing things and were very successful in life. It's important for students to know grades don't define you :)
Also when it comes to student who are nappers I would make sure they've had their blood work done recently to make sure there aren't any underlying health issues like hypothyroidism. Not all students who take a nap first are lazy :(

Y'all have good counselors but mine call my parents to tell them what happened when I am crying and begging that they don't call my mom.
sometimes they have to! it's not a choice and don't blame them. they're doing the best they can and the way they think they can help you.
It was about an untrue rumor that was spread about me. When I explained it to them they didn't believe me and called my mother.

The correct term is School Counselor...not Guidance Counselor.
Some schools still use Guidance Counselor as the official job title. I know mine does.
@@shilohfelt9976 True, many school districts do, but as school counselors, it's our job to let them know the term is outdated. The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) has been fighting to get that to change.
