I have to say, without any exaggeration whatsoever, this is the single best comic I've read in YEARS. Geoff Johns is the only writer who can take something as radical and controversial as the New 52 and make it fit so perfectly with everything that came before, so it all fits together seamlessly. He's peerless.

It was an awesome issue! My Dad had tears in his eyes when Barry yanked Wally from the Speed Force. He thought that Wally wasn't going to make it. We're looking foward to all of the rebirth titles!
Yeah, the attitude was definitely the problem. He was honestly just a generic sort of delinquent, this seems to be changing but that just wasn't Wally.
At the beginning, when we saw the clock I thought to myself "Wait, could this have Watchmen? No, that could never happen", but then when Batman finds the smiley pin, my jaw just dropped for a minute and I just stared at the page. Wally was important to me as a kid because of the Justice League cartoon, him and Green Lantern have always been really close to my heart. GL Rebirth has been my bible of comics, everything that they should be. So as a devoted fan of the character and a long time supporter of the "Rebirth" philosophy I can say good job Geoff. Be proud.
I read this and saw the Comedian's badge and I was in awe. The segment in the beginning with the watch also reminded me of the Watchmen too, can't wait to see where this goes.
I loved rebirth! well worth the journey into town to get it at midnight.that moment when barry remembered wally had me leaping up in my living room and that shot of Bruce finding the comedians badge! that was unreal!.can't wait to see the atoms and their adventures in the microverse either really really excited to see where the dcu goes now.

Gotta admit, I don't follow comics much anymore (I end up getting the random Batman graphic novel now and again) but got really hyped reading the early reviews for rebirth. All sold out where Im from, but decided to buy it via the dc comics app, and just wanted to say - holy hell, what an emotional read lol when I really get into something I tend to read the story out to myself like Im the narrator (in this case, Wally, and because for some reason I enjoy reading it that way more) and I had to physically distance myself from everyone in the house so as not to bother anyone with the ridiculous sound of me weepingly struggle through the Wally and Barry scene lol in any case, Rebirth #1 is amazing and it sucks that Johns is apparently no longer gonna write for these titles anymore in order to focus on the dceu, but if this is by any means an indication on the quality of storytelling for future stories, you can count me back in!
I cried when The Flashes reunited and cried even more when I figured out Dr. Manhattan was behind it all. Pruit Igoe and Prophecies played in my head INSTANTLY!
DC Universe Rebirth is a single issue that serves to introduce the readers to what it's going to happen. After this issue we gonna have the new titles like Superman Rebirth and Batman Rebirth to explain what will happen to all these characters
I've got to be the only person who was seriously rooting for Wally to come back without even really knowing Jack about the character. Either I'm a sap for this kind of thing, or this was well written.
I was hoping this event would bring back Wally but didn't really hold out much faith that it would actually happen. I thought they were committed to making the new 52 the one and only Wally. I am very happy that they brought my favorite Flash back. The story was well written and will be a classic for many years to come I think. Now for Geoff to turn the movies around.

That is exactly the direction they are going with, the pre 52 universe never rebooted, but was significantly altered by Dr Manhattan, hence Wally and other characters are coming back. the detail is very nice when Wally is telling the story of how he became a speedster, Barry's costume was the old one
I think than that is the general idea, althought it wouln't surprise me if Manhattan wanted created a more lighthearted world after what he saw in Watchmen.
i loved Rebirth #1!! Rebirth is what got me back into reading DC Comics. And now that it's confirmed that Dr.Manhattan created the universe, i'm excited to see him and maybe other watchmen characters in some of these comics :)
I believe what DC said is that there are now two people that are named Wally West and they are cousins, and both named after their great grandfather. The red-haired Wally is the son of Iris' brother Rudolph, while the other Wally is actually the son of Daniel West, the Reverse Flash, despite Wally calling him uncle. My guess is that they'll explain it as since Daniel was very unfit for a father that Rudolph took in new Wally as a child and was raised to believe Daniel was his uncle rather than his father.

It's part of why I enjoyed the ending of Geoff's Brightest Day as well - deliberately making Swamp Thing into Alec Holland is giving Alan Moore the v-sign as much as bringing Watchmen into the mainstream DC Universe. Alan Moore has become such an unpleasant character, it's nearly impossible to feel sympathy for him.
