Very thankful for this video. I’m a widow and this is the second time that I watch it to fix my second sliding door latch :)

My door is not a Jen-Wen, but very similar, almost identical. I ordered the part from Amazon, followed these instructions and everything went perfectly, the latch works as good as new. Thank you!

Excellent instructions, every single step in this video is important. I used your link to order the part from Amazon. I replaced my JW Lock latch following your instructions in this video. The steps were easy and every step must be followed, and I did when installing my latch. Before installing I had watched several RUclips videos on this and related topics. Yours was the best. I was thinking to replace the entire lock along with the latch, however, could not find exact size lock; all were very narrow. And it was not necessary to replace the lock. Instead , I researched the type of cleaning and lubricating solution for the lock in RUclips videos. Determined that "3-IN-1 Lock Dry Lube" is the right kind of lubricant for this type of locks (see RUclips videos).
There was lot of black buildup on the lock hooks - all got cleaned up instantly as soon as I sprayed the lubricant followed by scrubbing by an old tooth brush. The lock hooks freed up and looked like new. Hats off to you, Sir for an excellent video. You got a SUB.

Thanks! I bought a replacement at DK Hardware because Amazon didn't have anything similar to my JW model. I used the original tail piece like the video suggests and everything worked fine

The latch you used is no longer available on Amazon but there was another one that was exactly the right size. The nomenclature is wrong on Amazon which I reported to Amazon and to the Seller. The lever I received was 2 1/8” long which was exactly what I needed. Your video was so helpful. Thanks again!!

I couldn't find it on Amazon either, but found it from a company in Canada called Reflect Window and Door. The part was called Olympus Patio Door 2-1/8" Latch Lever With 1/2" Spindle. They shipped it pretty fast too!

@@WeekendFunnies Did you use an old (original) tail piece or the one that came with a new latch? Were they the same length?

What should I do if I lost the original tail piece

How long is the old tail piece

Sorry… I don’t remember measuring the tailpiece. You can test fit the new one to see if it will work without cutting it. 😎
