      Yup, hard blow molded/inaction molded cases are far superior. I have ONE tool in a bag, the Milwaukee M12 impact and hammer drill, and the bag is always getting sawdust caught inside it, the tool I want is at the bottom, it doesn't offer very much protection, and I can't immediately see if everything is present. And that's a very small bag. I couldn't imagine a larger one. With a plastic case, I can dump out the saw dust, blow it out with air, or spray it out with a house. The tools all have their place and I know everything is where it should be. All the tools are easily accessible. And the plastic cases are near indestructible.

    So we finally have a gen 2 brad, along w/ the 15, 16, gauges. Will be getting the framing nailers....but I still can’t get rid of my compressor b/c of siding/roofing nailers, & 23g pin nailer(yes know there’s 2 brands out). Would be slick if Milwaukee released an M18 version of these tools in the future. Once they do, I will actually be 100% cordless on the jobsite. Never imagined a day when this “could” be possible when started out in the trades. What a time we are living in....exciting along w/ future possibilities 😁

      @Southernboy302 3 года назад +1

      @@IncogSkbb021 A lot of newer trucks have inverters built right into them and obviously having more than one battery is ideal, but if I had someone working on my house I wouldn't care if they charged their batteries while working. I get that could be an issue when it comes to new construction without an utility hook up tho. Either way it's still way less bs than having to deal with pneumatic hoses and time wasted on clean up.

    I bought one because I did all of the flooring in my house, new molding and such. This thing was super easy to use and quite frankly overkill if you don't have a large project or series of them. Also, think the softbag versus a hardcase allows for more storage of select sizes of brads. For example, most hard cases only leave enough room for MAYBE (1) 1500ct box. So I actually dig the larger bag. Plus it's just going in the job box.

    @vcg Construction I literally had to replace the battery in my iPhone 6+ today because the battery was so old in it (got it in 2014) that it was no longer keeping a good charge, Apple authorized repair at a bestbuy, I commented to the geek squad tech that the batter was only at a 25% charge, she told me they didn't ship the batteries at a higher charge because they had the possibility of exploding. When you mentioned the battery on that nailer was basically at 25% (1 bar) it makes me think maybe there are regulations in regards to shipping batteries.

    I’m at the Home Depot looking at this thing next to my ridgid 18ga. Milwaukee is just 6.1 pounds and ridgid just 3 pounds. If you’re replacing a door or remodel a kitchen or bathroom, the battery nailers is more convenient but using this 6.1 pounds all day on delicate trim is not easy to be precise.

  • @TheKurtTribute

    Just a note: The tool does NOT use a bladder or a air cylinder like other nailers (Ryobi air strike for example). It uses a permanently sealed cylinder that is pressurized with nitrogen gas. Took mine apart and was not able to see much else, it seems as if the striker is always under pressure from the gas and then it is released and retracted by the brushless motor. However I could be incorrect, it could also be using some sort of valve system to redirect the gas in front of and then behind the piston to fire the striker.

      A husky bag isn't any less prone to being stolen. If you leave a bag, branding or not, somewhere where it can be stolen, it will be. You leave a bag in your car and it's unbranded, and a thief comes along, he's going to steal it regardless.

      I've used dewalt and Milwaukee. Ramp up is definitely a non issue for the Dewalt, it shoots plenty fast. Really same as pneumatic. Nail placement is more accurate than the Milwaukee. I used a gen 1 and that made me go with Dewalt. Pneumatics are way more accurate in nail placement and accessibility in tight spots. Still bat tool does most applications.

    • @mlindholm
      @mlindholm 4 года назад

      @@stevenfoust3782 The lack of ramp-up on this and the Dewalt is because of how they work. On the Milwaukee, there's a sealed gas cylinder in the front. When you pull the trigger, it's using that pressure to instantly drive the nail, that's why there's no ramp-up time. After the nail is driven, the motor runs to shove the striker/piston back into the cylinder, pressurizing the gas above it, and a catch holds it up, ready to be released for the next shot.
      The Dewalt uses a flywheel, that when the tool is active, is spinning and has energy waiting and ready to drive a nail. From completely off (quiet), to driving a nail, there is a bit of delay though. Not sure if it uses a motion sensor, or if you need to pull the trigger when not on the workpiece to get it going. That's also why it's not affected by temperature, unlike the Milwaukee (gas cylinder pressure isn't as high in the cold), or any of the on-demand pneumatic ones like the Ryobi, Ridgid, etc.

    Hard cases are 💯% better then bags. Cases can usually be locked. Even though that only keeps honest people out, it is still a nice feature. You can even use zip ties, just to make sure that everything is inside and nothing has been “borrowed” or removed. You can ad foam to cases to keep tools from moving around and getting banged up or scratched. Soft bags, are basically for transportation not storage. I think Milwaukee has done this on purpose, so that people will purchase their PACKOUT storage containers.

    Hard cases go straight to the landfill anyway. They're more expensive, bulky, and inconvenient to access. If you must cut costs somewhere (and you do) this is hardly the worst place to cut them. Sort tools by task into toolbags and put all the tool bags into a Rubbermaid tote. You can carry the whole shebang into the house and cut down on trips out to the van.

    Porter Cable’s bn200v12 cordless brad nailer from 2003 is the greatest brad nailer nobody’s heard of. It’s a hybrid cordless/pneumatic so if the battery dies you can hook up and air line to it like a regular brad nailer. The battery pack runs a tiny 12v compressor built into the back end of the gun so the front part is the same size as a standard brad nailer. I’ve been using mine all week installing trim and absolutely love the thing.

    I had a 19$ harbor freight air Brad / stapler on my farm for building mobile chicken pens and I put a few 100k staples throw it before it crapped out. It did molding like a dog though, over pen. ok for a DIYer/once a year user. I guess you’d be caulking trim anyway at that level.

    It is nicer that the mode button is a separate button and not using the some power button like on my m18 finish nailer. That is like what they did with the new m18 light that was based on the m12 version with the magnets and beam clamp but with the ajustable light head and changed the mode button to be a separate button that keeps the mode setting after you turn it off.

      They make for a good quick field bag when you already know what you'll be needing for the entire job. I got loads of the bags an I use the hell out of them got quite a few hard cases too. The hard cases are nice but take up too much room unfortunately. I haven't broke any Milwaukees over the past 5yrs now except the cordless Gen 1 1/2" drill which I smoked the motor on drilling out broken bolts but other than that one I don't worry about any of the 15+ Milwaukee Fuel tools that I own. The hard cases I usually just quickly hollow them out with that m12 sawzall or their dremel and use them to store my lifting straps, shackles, come-alongs or I'll throw a bunch of hydraulic caps, flanges and plugs into them that way I'm not making a bunch of trips to the work truck or tool box. Just three of those bags and I'm good to go on most projects just about. Now at home I have plenty of shed storage so I can leave alot of my tools and other things in their boxes to keep them a bit nicer but at work it's all about testing their durability because if a tool breaks the company I work for replaces it no matter what it is so I've learned some good things over the years about quality. I'll keep with my Milwaukees for a long time unless something else can compete at their price range but for someone who doesn't want to spend that kind of money for the extra power then I alway recommend Dewalts. Dewalts can take one hell of a beating atleast their drills and impacts anyhow. They are noticeably else powerful than the Milwaukees but they are durable and generally alot cheaper but they get most the same jobs done. I try and stick with one single brand especially at work because nothing sucks worse than have a cordless die on you and you can't find a spare battery to swap out. Now I probably got 10 or more batteries and 5 chargers so that's not much of an issue and since the Fuels are either 12 or 18s I can easily slap another battery in an go right back at it. I think I'd go crazy having Milwaukees, Hilts, Ryobi, Dewalts, Craftsmans, Snap-On and all different generations of them too when a battery died🤣 I did learn one good lesson and that was to stay away from Snap-On cordless impacts, those things were junk and costed an arm and leg over Milwaukee an I couldn't even get 6 months out of one. I will say they do make a pretty good fireball when their crappy motors burned up🤣

    I prefer the hard cases, but I will say there are some advantages to the bags. For example, I bought the M18 fuel supersawzall kit and have been able to fit both the kit contents plus my gen 1 sawzall, 7 m18 batteries, and several blades.

    Hi Vince,
    Really like the milwaukee gen2 model. The first one was a really bad design. Glad milwaukee just did a total redesign. I use the DeWalt 18g brad nailer (20v) and it's great. The only two issue i have with it is the motor rev up noise. It get annoying after awhile. I like how the milwaukee sounds in this video. The second is the led light. Great review, Vince~! For years, I've been using the 16 & 18 gauge Porter Cable nailers that came with my compressor kit combo. I just came home with a pack of 1 1/2" brads for my 18g, only to see that the max size for it is 1 1/4". Never realized this. So, now that I'm on the Milwaukee battery platform, I'll be running down out to grab a Gen 2, which also lets me flex up to 2 1/8" brads.
    Thanks for the great info~!

    I have this gun and I love it. I only use the hard tip though cause the soft tip is too soft and it will roll out of the way a little bit and allow the striker to come in closer to the material and change your depth setting. I do use the multi shot quite a bit for putting in filler pieces where I need them and it works really well just bouncing the gun, its not as fast as a pneumatic but the time you save just grabbing the gun, nails and a battery makes up for that. Ive only had 1 jam in the year and a half that owned mine and it was an issue with a nail and not the gun. Other than that, money well spent for me. Its paid for itself 3 times over. I'm waiting for a gen2 15 gauge and the new 23 gauge. Once I have those I wont need a compressor for most of my everyday work. I only have a siding gun and framing nailer that I still use air for and if I'm breaking those out on a job its because I have a lot of nails to drive and a battery framing gun just isnt going to cut it.
