    Aaron Marino of alpha m. covers speaking etiquette 101 for being a gentleman. You may look and act like a gentlemen, but if something comes out of your mouth that is unbefitting of a gentleman, you have totally screwed the pooch. Here are tips for how to speak like gentlemen:
    1. Say 'please' whenever asking for anything
    2. Say 'thank you' whenever you receive anything
    3. Do not use profanity on a regular basis
    4. Never talk down to anybody
    5. Does not gossip about others
    6. Speak in a positive manner
    7. Doesn't say anything hateful about anyone! Whether sexist, racist, homophobic, bigoted, it's disgusting!
    8. Wait to speak and do not interrupt
    9. Know when to shut up

      Victor Cavazos i agree, and nice Kingsman reference, but I do not believe he portrayed the entire idea perfectly. His comments on please and thank you were correct and useful, but the rest was a bit sloppy. Especially when he says that profanity is the beat way to sound dumb, but stumbles over his own words for 5 seconds, which is the easiest way to sound dumb. He made points that did not need to be made and also showed a lack of understanding of the topic by not including many key rules.

    • @g-man6677
      @g-man6677 4 года назад

      And to be clear, I do agree with what he said, but there are other points he should have made, so points he did not need to make like the thank you point, which could have gone with please. He also should have been more careful to not break his own rules in my opinion

    • @g-man6677
      @g-man6677 4 года назад

      Oh, and I am sorry but one more thing to add on him breaking his own rules. He makes subtle sexist remarks all the time. In the past he has said both, “ the way I see it, women drink wine, guys drink beer, and gentlemen drink whiskey” and also “A gentleman must drink one of 3 masculine drinks” to quote a few. These are both very subjective and borderline sexist.

I mean, I was in the states for my Summer Holidays, and I honestly felt a bit insulted when it came to people completely ignoring me doing things to help them out, such as holding a door open etc. I'm a 16 year old brit, and I was brought up that way, so I guess I just expect it to happen. Though, cussing and swearing in general is uncouth.

    I'll add that strong apology skills are highly desirable. Everyone has their shortcomings; being able to apologize for them quickly and without digging yourself in deeper is a must if you want to make up for them and move on with your life. Anecdotally, the first time I met a guy who could apologize well, I thought "holy crap, I'm gonna marry that man," and that's exactly what I did :)

      Yes, life *is* easier when you aren't worrying about "appeasing others" (i.e. being a decent human being). That doesn't make it a good idea, nor does it make it the course of action that will lead to your own long-term happiness. If you're always doing whatever is easiest rather than expending a little more effort to be a good person, you aren't going to get very far in life.
