Lilo isn’t wrong about pudge the fish. It’s related to the native folk mythos, that that species of fish were once messengers of gods and that one of their kind had enough power to create storms.
Lilo and Nani lost their parents due to a bad storm with flash flooding. Lilo is traumatized not of water but of storms. This just makes people like LILO’s bully even less

Learning about this makes me want to punish Mertle even more and I’m not a violent person. Not only is she a bully but she’s also insensitive about Lilo’s beliefs. By the Tuatha de Dannan I don’t see Mertle getting far anywhere in life unless she grows up. I know kids can sometimes be mean but from what I can tell her mother never really acted stuck up like Mertle (probably got it from her father) If I acted like Mertle as a kid (and thankfully I never did) I would get a long ass scolding and be forced to do research on the native culture in order to write an apology letter. Thankfully my parents raised me to be respectful of other peoples beliefs.

@@MadnessIncVP She actually shows up a couple of times in the TV series. She’s actually kinda nice unlike her total brat of a daughter. Her dad however never appears.

Same bro! I watched this with my grandma once and she was like "I didn't like how they where screaming at each other " 🤨 Clearly she never fought with her 11 siblings 🙄 This is by far the most relatable dippiction of sisters in any movie I've seen. I'm the big sis too😉

So people wonder why pudge is so important. Well, pudge controls the weather, right? How did Lilo and Nani's parents pass on? A storm? So in Lilo's mind feeding Pudge the fish is gonna keep a storm from happening again.

Car crash. One very stormy night, Lilo an Nani’s parents was driving and it was very dark but then they crashed and died. Lilo is afraid of the dark and storm too, you can just see it in her personality, Stitch is helping Lilo overcome everything.
It was stated I believe somewhere that Lilo had been feeding him for a while too, but she didn't feed him on the day that her parents went for that drive. So in a way Lilo feels like she's the one that killed them, because she didn't feed pudge. She continues to feed him so no one else has to lose their loved ones

Lilo and Stitch are parts of the spectrum in my opinion- one’s perceived as a bit of an outsider and cares heavily about how they appear in public and wants to get to know people, and the other is the embodiment of chaos(I myself branch more into that area).
