Rule of thumb: If it got long bonnet, it won't fit. Mid engine cars fit because they got cabin up front. Lexus SC430 body drives really well. Such a shame it doesn't fit every chassis.
Thanks for dropping by, the Enzo and 360 gtc suprised me. Just didn't look like they would fit. It's was a lot of fun trying the bodies on. The motor mount is unnecessarily bulky I think.
Loving this community.. all the big mini-z youtubers here.. you guys are legends lol.. bmr beaver and garage.. been watching your guys videos for about a month.. wanting to get into rc drifting.. finally pulled the trigger got a ma-020 and love it to death got it for my birthday gift to myself.. slowly upgrading it.. its a lot of fun learning how to drift
once you start mini rc draws you in .we all love bouncing ideas off each other . Beavers videos got me back in the game ....im building a custom lights kit as we speak . enjoy and feel free to ask anything . Im going to start adding posts to the fb page too of what i'm upto.
Man I've been looking for a light kit.. so question I do have is can i put 0 offset wheels on a 1.5 offset car such as the r33 skyline. I was thinking about getting the initial d car for my everyday driver. I feel like the r33 body is too nice to mess up
Thanks for the small mention :P Didn't have many bodies compared to you so I can't have my own fitment list. Beaver did have a thread on RCGroups on the fitment of cars on the MA030, and would be great if you could add some of these cars to the list too. Also, I can fit the R33 on my MA030EVO with the modded motor mount, so I'd imagine the R35 would fit without problems too. Having disassembled the MA030 to the core, the bearing placement is what prevents the car from running 90mm AWD. From what I understand they had to make that design decision because shifting the bearing in would require the battery placement to be shifted in a way that they need to widen the chassis. Shifting the batteries forward instead would've needed a servo redesign too. You could run without the bearing and cut off the plastic piece, but the driveshaft would end up having too much play which could cause the gears to grind. It's pretty impressive how much they managed to squeeze actually. The downfall is that the AAA batteries just take so much space.
Yes I had the same thoughts... Its a good car, something has to be compromised. I'll add the cars to the list 👍🏽I did give you a proper mention but kept saying your name wrong and felt embarrassed, I'll try and do a proper shout out next video. 😂
'ha this guy has way more shells than i would ever own' and then i started counting. Turns out i have a similar number, i thought i was a chassis person, not a body one
Just got the time to watch this video in full & it’s a gem! Thanks for taking the time to try all these on camera, add a few more Ferrari to the wish list ;) Shame the corvettes & s13 did not fit, the ZR1 is so mean looking.
Garage RC I want to build a ZR1 chassis, but I can’t afford it till the fall. Lol these micro RC cars are such a money pit & the addiction is never satiated 😹 I just want more chassis’s, more shells, more aluminum parts!
Been watching a bunch of your videos and decided to start off with an ma-030 evo. I was trying to convert it to a 94mm wheelbase for an r32 body but the shorter center shaft that came in the box did not come with a gear on one end that would engage with the rear differential like the default 98mm centershaft did. Am I missing something or should i just order a new one from Kyosho? Thank you for your time.
lol I was using the longer shaft after converting to 94mm wb, now I’m realizing I probably was using the wrong shaft, I’ll give that a try when I get home, good info.
Lol well then will have to add to my subscriptions.. I am a newer mini z owner.. and i have the rtr blue r33 skyline and i'm looking into a new 90 body but i guess mine is 94 wheel base.. just wondering if i could switch to 98 and 90 without buying anything else..
90mm yes you should have a smaller gear needed to reduce the length. I'll try and do a video about Ma020 bodies I'll add it to my list of requests.Ps love that shell in that colour. Please add a picture to my face book page in description.
It can be done. You have to be careful and depends on the thickness of the shell on how it will flex. I've used 3 different techniques. Small screw driver and see if I can lift it away bit by bit, the other way is to use small pliers and try and "peal" them off. Sometimes they come off clean, usually a bit it the thin guide plastic comes away. If you then move the mounts you might find the bit that's lodged in the mounts needs to be removed to reseat them correctly. I 3d print mounts as spares when I do this. If you check my gla vs bz3 video I actually made a vlecro top mount and removed the side mounts. Although I'm not sure I actually showed me taking them off. Which body is it?
Garage RC great tips! I will try heat and warm water maybe to soften glue. I have the Audi LMS for my GLA. I am also thinking or trying to mod the chassis cause GL Racing has adjustable side mounts for GLA but that is my last resort.
I was going to to make different side mounts for gla with my 3d printer, the only thing I would do differtn is use small magnets instead of velcro. I noticed woth no side mounts the nose of body takes more force. So some kind of side mount is needed to spread force. Take your time don't try to snap off quickly. Good luck 🤞
@@GarageMiniRCUK thanks my worry was taking it off the 98mm it will loosen and not fit on the 94mm, do I have to do anything else to shorten it or is it just the center shaft replacement
Any chance you have similar video/content showing bodies fit for the MR-03EVO chassis? My 50th anniversary lambo murcielago didn’t fit cuz the rear was too shallow and bumps against the rear spring.
You showed that the McLaren 12C GT3 body fits, but can you confirm if the McLaren F1 GTR body would fit? Also, trying to figure out if the Calsonic Skyline GT-R R32 would be a fit as well....?

In addition to the thread beaver started on what bodies fit (sometimes including modified motor mounts: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3432907-Mini-Z-MA030-FWD-AWD-body-compatibility ), I would also point to the Kyosho website. It appears they have performed this very test on every shell on the posted list (which isn’t 100% complete ASC... but might be 75%+): kyosho.com/mini-z-info/support/body-specifications/ (look in the FWD fitment column - MA03F uses same chassis/motor position). I wish they had every column populated for all these bodies! But at least they have the one related to this topic well-filled. One other point: I’m hoping to be able to run the DWS with 94mm wheelbase with my AWD-converted MA-03F (per Beavers very helpful video!), due to the brushed ESC board being much shorter than EVO version (specifically the Rx PCB) & not overhanging the rear axle. I’ve really been enjoying your channel! I gleaned a lot of body fitment info from this video & your other videos have given me hope that MA03 will have a touring future. I hope they keep building and promoting this chassis as aftermarket support is still a bit light (for example: I cannot find anyone that makes a front toe-adjustment for the front axle).
Thanks for the links, I had settled with the Audi r8 for convenience, but I honestly had not thought about trying some of my older bodies. I had a look at the dws at 94mm and you are correct esc gets in the way. Saying that I virtually butchered my old Ma020 to make it brushless... So you never know what madness might overtake me.... 😂 Will def run the 94mm 360 gtc though.
@@GarageMiniRCUK I finally got my hands on a DWS rear suspension: it is now fitted on my brushed 94mm MA-03 chassis, with plenty of clearance for the PCB. With the Kyosho X-speed motor in there I think this will have plenty of power for a drifter.

Yes should be fine as long as light wires tucked out of way
Also may need to reduce wheelbase from 94mm to 90mm using the cogs in your kit
Nice topic, shells are more important then people give them credit for. They can have significant impact on driving characteristics & performance.
Suprised myself had a few shells I hadn't used for a while.
could you do a video for us noobs that dont change parts on the MA-030 EVO but wont new body kits! if so your the man.

Pretty sure the Nissan R33 is a 94mm/ L fitment. The MA030 EVO is set for 98mm LL. Should be able to adjust to 94mm and the R33 should fit no?
Front motor moubt gets in way
Would like one for rwd and awd bodies
Is there way to make MA-030 evo wheelbase length to 106mm? I'm trying to put on bmw e30 plastic model as cover for it.
Never tried . Would need a longer drive shaft and something to extend chassis . 3d printer would probably solve that .

How do you convert the MA030 Evo from 98mm to 94 mm using the stock rear suspension? Is that possible or do you need a separate awd center shaft?
It should have a shorter shift in kit.
what parts are you using to convert to 90mm ?
How to adjust ma030 length to fit 90 mm shell?
My ma030 fwd can use 94 and 98 wheelbase body ,but 90 mm can’t.

Is it really 90mm awd ma03? Coz as i know, ma03 has a longer board compared to ma02 so the shortest wheelbase is 94mm.
No only if front wheel drive only . Remove rear axles .
How can I set 90mm? No matter how much I look at the video, I can't figure out how
Fwd drive only use short drive shaft option.

Yes

Just centre shaft. It should come off easy. If it's set up stock then it it's easy. If dws is on switch it for standard.
