  • I think you can find Miso online 💖
    If you want to make Miso soup, you don't have to use Japanese ingredients. Any meat and/or vegetables go perfect 👍 Try out the bacon potato idea if you have never tried it 😋
    ---------------------------------
    Bacon Potato Miso Soup
    Difficulty: Easy
    Time: 20min
    Number of servings: 4
    Ingredients:
    2 bacon strips
    200g (7oz.) potato
    100g (3.5oz.) onion
    4 cups (800cc) water
    2 tbsp. Miso
    2 tsp. Dashi powder
    Directions:
    1. Cut bacon into small pieces. Slice potato into quarter-rounds. Slice the onion.
    2. In a large pot, put water, Dashi powder, potatoes and onions. Bring to boil, then remove the foam (to remove the bad taste). Add bacon, cover, and cook on medium for 3 minutes.
    3. Check if the potatoes are done. Turn down to low and dilute Miso with a little hot broth and then mix it back into the soup. Heat until hot to finish.

    bacon can be a perfect Dashi so you can skip Dashi powder in this recipe. however, adding Dashi powder makes the soup even tasty~ 😋btw, have you ever tried making miso soup at home? do you like miso soup?

      Well it has to do with the clean and clear look of the broth more than the taste. It does affect the taste however, but not to a degree that you will notice the difference significantly.

      You’re on a roll with these recipes!! :) I just made this and it was so easy to make~ Very delicious too! I just had miso with dashi so I used 1.5 tbsp of that and didn’t add dashi powder. Also didn’t have bacon so I just added a drizzle of olive oil instead. Hehe

    I never remove the foam. The foam is made from the proteins of the ingredients (usually from the meat) and doesn't contribute a significant flavor difference. Once all the components of the soup are brought together and the temperature reduced, the foam settles down into the soup and only affects the appearance of you are trying to make a clear soup like consomme. I feel leaving the foam makes the soups/stews heartier and more filling with the extra protein left in.

    • @ochikeron
      @ochikeron  5 лет назад

      any miso will do~ i used awase miso the mixture of both. we japanese use any miso for miso soup~ of course there are specific ingredients that goes perfect with specific miso but we don't care that for home cooking~

    hey,
    I would really like to try this recipe.
    And in my country, especally in the city where I live, it is really easy to buy Miso. (because we have a really large japanese (and chinese/korean) community here. ^.^
    Wich leads to my question:
    What kind of Miso you where using?
    The stores have a lot of different kinds. Mostly diveded into Shiro Miso, Aka Miso and a mix of both.
    From the colour I would say you used Shiro Miso, but I just want to make sure.
    Or is it not important what kind of Miso I use?
    Thank you.

    • @ochikeron
      @ochikeron  5 лет назад

      mix of both (awase miso) is perfect~ however, any miso is fine.
