Dana Newton it's not translucent if you let the potatoes break down. You can save half of the potatoes and add them in later in the cooking process so you have two different textures of potatoes.

About the worst potato soup ive ever seen. 12 slices of bacon. Fried drained removed and chopped Drain the the fat out ofbthe pan leaving the fond. Add back 2 or 3 tablespoons of bacon fat. Cook onion (leeks are better) carrot and celery till translucent and soft. Add chicken broth and 2 cut up and peeled potatos per person plus 2 for the pot. Cook potatoes till tender. Add a small container of double cream and a stick of salted butter. Stir to combine. Season to taste with salt pepper and afew dashes of Franks hot sauce. I put that shit on everything. Serve with chopped bacon and sour cream, if u want cheese add it to your bowl. warm french bread. Is a good accompaniment.
