Honestly, at some points, BRT systems in KL - Bangkok - Hanoi are better than Transjakarta, despite their limited route. They're safer, more comfortable, more modern, and more well-connected to stations or any public places. Some Transjakarta routes have too little frequency that passengers need to wait too long, some old buses aren't cool enough.
But still, I'm proud of Transjakarta as the world's largest BRT system. It's comfortable, very cheap, and has been improving these recent years with the installing of platform screen doors, arrival screen, and pedestrian bridge connecting to stations.

I think the ridership of TJ had just started to take off when they introduced hundreds of non-segregated line feeder routes reaching low-yield destinations and smaller roads. It is indeed a game changer. You can check the statistics, prior to the introduction the ridership was stalled for years despite the addition of some trunk lines. This strategy is definitely applicable to most other SEA cities because they all share similar traffic characteristics. Heck even it would also work even better in Sub-Saharan African cities like Dar Es Salaam, Lagos, and Nairobi because private vehicle ridership and ownership in those places are very low compared to their SEA counterparts.

I know DOTR is now in the preliminary stage of their BRT project but I hope they would scramble and use all of their power in implementing the BRT system in Metro Manila. Now that the gov't is easing the quarantine levels, I hope they could do this faster to ease traffic congestion, now that workers are slowly coming back to work, in order to avoid passengers from alighting anywhere and letting the drivers pick-up/drop-off passengers anywhere as well. They should also make bus transportation cashless and let the drivers earn a regular pay.

  • @aryheru

BRT in Jakarta is a huge success merely because there isn't any LRT/MRT system available up untill today.
This year 2019 will be marked as a new revolution of public transportation in Jakarta with both MRT and LRT system (of the first phase) will be available commercially. It will bring a new level of challenge to the existing BRT system (transjakarta) on how to maintain their services to be able to sustain the business. Luckily, the massive route service of transjakarta (BRT system) is the key factor that transjakarta would likely still the most demanded public transport in Jakarta along side with the existing Commuter Line (rail) system.
The greater Jakarta Commuter Line system is somewhat much like Metro Manila LRT. Unlike MRT system , the Commuter Line system in Jakarta doesn't have a dedicated track since there are still road crossing at ground level in some sections.

Errr I reckon the BRT and bus network would carry even more passengers once the new metro lines are in operation because both would work hand in hand. Ideally, the busses serve last mile connectivity well because you can't put metro stations too close to each other in one line and it's already happening now.

@@adinnaikhwani6255 Not really. We could have afforded to build a few lines of metro even in 1980s but the govt opted to build expressways instead. This is proven to be very fatal when later on everyone can afford to have private vehicles due to increasing prosperity. Hence we have to deal with masses that is addicted to private vehicles and refuse to move to PT. Had we did build metro and fixed the commuter train system back then, it would've been not as bad as what we have now, although the current administration is trying their best to undo that.

Even though they have the massive BRT system they still remain one of the most traffic congested city in the world, in fact number 2, after bangkok, and no way manila is included even in the top10, traffic in manila is just the effect of wrong doing by Filipino commuters and drivers, Filipinos are used to counter flowing, overtaking, not staying on their lane whether it is public or private vehicles, commuters used to wait and drop off to udesignated bus stations. The Bangkok MRT was just a pilot line to test the market. It never really caught on despite not being more expensive than normal air-con buses . On the other hand, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) operates public bus service in and around the Bangkok metro area. It, along with privately-owned co-operator under BMTA brand, runs an extensive 458 routes and comprised of various types of vehicles totalling around 13,100 (thirteen thousand) vehicles. It carries over 3 million passengers per day. Together with bus services, the SkyTrain and Underground Train services are also quite established.

Malaysian prefer more to using LRT,MRT, Commuters Train, Grab Cars. More fast travelling and efficient. Malaysia standard of living are high after Singapore. They even drive with their own cars due to cheap petrol oil and road nextworking very good
