Oh Molly, I am a old man soon, now 60 year old, and have listening music over 50 years and You and your friends make me wonder, now I have hear great talents again! love you Molly`
I grew up in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada foothills, and this song hits every note. The history and place names are accurate, and the musicianship is superb. Bravo Molly and band!
Oh HELL Ya!!!! Lord but yall can Play! Molly, your playing & singing are just beautiful! I'm an old man these days. I grew up in the 50s, 60s & 70s. I loved all the music. Listening to your performance made me feel 50 years younger. To watch a band play like yall play together is just rare magic to me. I've played in a few bands. It was the best when everybody was in the groove and feeling the energy. I'm going to have a ball watching y'all's other songs. Would just love to sit front row live listening to yall. 🎉
Pretty safe to say that, whoever listens to this young woman’s music becomes Molly-fied. (mollify - To sooth in temper or disposition.) Thanks Molly and thanks to your band.
I'm 88. Spent my youth in the folk music genre. You know, the Bitter End in Greenwich Village and place that sold coffee for a buck. Dated all the folk music ladies, well nearly all. Molly Tuttle you are JUST GREAT!!! I think Freddie Weintraub (Google him) would be super proud to put you on stage and in front of the brick wall. Anybody out there remember the brick wall?
@@joescullion5604 HAH!! 10/19 (last night!!) Great show. I had hoped she'd do encores bare-headed and she did, fitting her condition into the thematic line of "Crooked Tree". Wonderful. Les the mandolin player and Kyle "No Relation" Tuttle are high-level enough for Molly and Bronwyn is a fine fiddle player.
How have I never heard of her? I stumbled across a reddit thread about guitar gods and multiple people mentioned her so I looked her up in Jesus Christ she is so fucking talented!
I always wonder how scared the original 60's roots / folk/crossover scene would have been at Molly's insane skill. Say, if she showed up at Newport in 1965... would they have whooped and hollered or just stood there in stunned silent amazement..?
I generally don't pay any attention to lyrics of rock and pop songs (a Nobel Prize for Bob Dylan...really?), but something about Mollly and Ketch's really appeals to me. And that voice and her mastery of the guitar! Isn't there some law making it illegal to monopolize talent? And it looks like they're having so much fun. Wonderful.
Can't wait to see Molly and the Highway at the Grass Valley Father's Day Bluegrass Festival... less than a month away !!! Grass Valley is where Molly learned her jamming chops and This will be the second time seeing her there. And all Three girls are just simply ADORABLE !!!
I've been listening to bluegrass for (gulp!) 50 years, and there have always been good bands, good songs and authenticity in the performances. Add this band to our Pantheon.
I live in Auburn in the heart of the old gold country. The song is awesome! Great storytelling! Amazing voice and talent, your band is very special, I love this music and not necessarily a bluegrass fan
Hey "Gold Rush Kate", that song is great!!!! Would love to see you live, Molly. Love your style! Your music tells a story, like only you can do! Thanks for sharing this!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Already excellent, the group keeps getting better and better. Molly and Shelbys voices are an absolutely perfect blend with Kyle helping out. One of the top "newgrass" bands in Nashville. EVERY musician in this group ranks near the top and its also a very good looking band.
I'm Gold Rush Kate from the Golden State With a nugget around my neck I keep the red lights burning bright from here to Hell and back I've dug for silver and for gold from Boulder up to Haines When I hit Coloma, boys, I made my final claim Crossed the High Sierras in the spring of '48 And every man with a shovel and pan Has stumbled through my gates Behind these doors, whiskey pours and lovin' flows like wine Miners boast of mother lodes they'll dig or else die trying El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo They come from far and wide to quell the fever in their souls It haunts their brain, they've gone insane For the glimmer of the gold The devil must have drug 'em here down a one-way path 'Cause when you hit Coloma, boys, you never make it back There's Redwood Bill, he can drink his fill And so can John the Rover Bad Luck Dave is in his grave, his gold dust days are over They fill their pans with blood and sand and call to God upstairs But in the golden country, boys, the Lord don't hear your prayers El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo Cross yourself on Hangman's Hill if you run into Reno Maria When the sky is dark, she can read the stars From Mars to Cassiopeia She comes around when the sun comes down with fortunes to be told For a copper penny, she'll tell you plenty, 'cept where to find the gold Stay away from Snake Oil Jake, he'll fool you with a fountain pen One look in his eyes, you'll be hypnotized, he's got that slight of hand He's sleek and fat like an old tom cat, they say he has nine lives Snake Oil Jake sure met his fate when they shot him down ten times Don't stake your claim with the Dogtown Gang Or the boys from Rough and Ready Don't thumb your nose at the Sydney Cove 'Cause the hammer comes down heavy On every jack who tries to hack his way to fortune fair And comes to find he's last in line to be a millionaire El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo El Dorado, city of gold, city of fools Heard the news from Siskiyou, the rush is moving on Leaving old Coloma boys and bound for Oregon Here in town the tailing piles have all gone to rust One day you boom, but pretty soon Your booming days are bust So now I sweep the empty streets and boarded up saloon Seen 'em fade from golden days to ghost towns left to ruin Was it worth the blood and dirt to dig our lives away? But life goes quick, so come get rich in Californ-I-A El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo El Dorado, city of gold, city of fools Has the fever got a hold on you? I've seen it, all the rise and fall, and now I take my rest I'm Gold Rush Kate from the Golden State And I'm the last one left

It's refershing to hear a new foot tapping melody that doesn't just repeat the same inane lyrics over and over. Good job.
As I get older I realize that this, this music right here is My favorite kind of music.
What a beautiful voice,,,,looking forward to seeing her live!
Me too! 5/27. Glad I go my tickets when I did: SRO only now!

Чудова музика , дякую .
Her masterpiece to this point. Written with Ketch Secor
Very nice!
I'm Gold Rush Kate from the Golden State

When I hit Coloma, boys, I made my final claim
Crossed the High Sierras in the spring of '48
And every man with a shovel and pan

Behind these doors, whiskey pours and lovin' flows like wine
Miners boast of mother lodes they'll dig or else die trying
El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo
They come from far and wide to quell the fever in their souls
It haunts their brain, they've gone insane
For the glimmer of the gold
The devil must have drug 'em here down a one-way path

But in the golden country, boys, the Lord don't hear your prayers
El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo
Cross yourself on Hangman's Hill if you run into Reno Maria
When the sky is dark, she can read the stars
From Mars to Cassiopeia
She comes around when the sun comes down with fortunes to be told
For a copper penny, she'll tell you plenty, 'cept where to find the gold
Stay away from Snake Oil Jake, he'll fool you with a fountain pen
One look in his eyes, you'll be hypnotized, he's got that slight of hand
He's sleek and fat like an old tom cat, they say he has nine lives
Snake Oil Jake sure met his fate when they shot him down ten times
Don't stake your claim with the Dogtown Gang
Or the boys from Rough and Ready
Don't thumb your nose at the Sydney Cove
'Cause the hammer comes down heavy
On every jack who tries to hack his way to fortune fair
And comes to find he's last in line to be a millionaire
El Dorado, woo-hoo-hoo
El Dorado, city of gold, city of fools
Heard the news from Siskiyou, the rush is moving on
Leaving old Coloma boys and bound for Oregon
