First decent comprehensive review of this head I have seen so far. Very informative and helpful. Reviewer covered the full range of drive settings and tones for this amp something all the metal head reviews failed to do! Great playing too!
Thank you very much!!
turn the resonance off with the dirty channel to get rid of that fuzzy sound. It's the same on my DSL 100.
I bought one the other day and hated it right off the bat. Very hairy at lower volumes and just sounded horribly synthetic. Then I put an EQ in the loop and dropped the level, then pumped the volume on the gain channel and put an SD-1 in front and wow....straight to pound town. It was like Zakk Wylde met AC/DC at Eddie Van Halen's house 😁
it is a monster amp in a mini box!!
I have this amp sure it's not a jcm but a jcm is $1800 🍁 with a few tricks I've got her sounding great not as tight as I'd like but it's been on daily for 2+ yrs with no problems
I think there's room for this amp , even if you have ' proper' Marshalls.
Great amp.
Put a set of dimarzio 36th PAF hum buckers in that Carvin....you won’t regret it.
How to buy,have link?
DSL20 vs Bassbreaker 15! Great video Gabor!
Thank you Guitars and Comics ....that's coming shortly...there will be a whole bunch of 15-20W amp shootouts coming soon
Guitars and Comics Fender gain is not in the same ballpark
I always respect. That's who I am.
Does this amp have a noticeable hiss when on the 20w setting with knobs at zero?
I own one. Love it. Not a great as a mesa boogie.
Sorry but this head can be use without speakers ? Because i just have a dsl15 with 12' speaker, but i would like to have de dsl20h cause it hasn't big dimensions. But I don't understand I can hear it without another speaker, only with the head? Thank you
You need a speaker or a load box...you can't use it just on its own! It has a direct line out for recording but you still need a load box otherwise you will damage the head!
@@TSFAHTPS thank you so much
Peavey 6505mh vs dsl20h which one is better?
2 types of Metal. You need to find what sound you like first by listening to bands. There are more bands that used Marshall, but from 1980's Van Halen...The Peavey also became a legend at least in the USA. I prefer the British Metal sound of Marshall, but to each his own...
I've got the big dog Peavey 6534+ and the little DSL15 HEAD AND THEY ARE BOTH KILLER AMPS !
I'VE GOT THE PEAVEY TO SOUNDS JUST LIKE THE MARSHALL BY TURNING THE BASS AND MIDS DOWN IN THE PEAVEY TO MATCH THE MARSHALL !
Do think it's loud enough to gig with?
ryan Cuellar Why do people ask this question? Of course it is. You can gig with a 5 watt amp if you mic it.
I'd say a 15w or more all-tube amp is safe to gig in any "club" to hear yourself "on stage"... To mic or not, it's up to the venue and seats.
This or dsl40cr?
Depends on if you are after a Head or a Combo AND of the style of music you play. If you play in a fairly loud band and you want headroom - as in you want the amp to stay "clean" without pushing the poweramp - you will probably be better off with the 40W version...if you like that Tube sag from pushing your amps poweramp tubes then the 20 will be great...hope that helps
@@TSFAHTPS thanks!!
Buy the 40 and just turn it into a head.. easy
Signal path?
Guitar -> Amp -> Two Notes Torpedo Live -> Logic
Dude it has Tone Shift?!? sold.
What s up with that tone shit? It s a mid scoop basicly, so it s a bad thing
@@CREPERUM it's not a bad thing at all !
There's already a ton of tone with or without the button pushed in !
