    Cool review, man! I believe that the cable at 3:13 is actually a speaker cable (to connect the head to a speaker cab; do not use an instrument cable for that).

    I’d been drinking so at 16:15 I’m like “SPEAK BRO’!”
    I was noticing the Lava lamp. Being from Hawaii, I always wondered why it was called that because we have two types of Lava. Aa and Pahoehoe. A third type, pillow Lava occurs during under water eruptions. The lamp does not emulate any of those.
    I always wanted a stack with a head amp but I don’t have the space. This demo makes me want to make some space for one - thanks for another great demo! It helps that you play the same chords throughout so that I can hear the differences. I have a G&L ASAT Deluxe so I also have a “country guitar” that has HB’s. Cool, Lando. Mahalo!

    Why most of the amp bloggers they are not considering the cabinet speaker (max watts) they are using for every head amp they are introducing in their blog. FYI amp head + cabinet proper match up is very important to us, so we know exactly the correct type of cabinet speaker max wattage for every amp head model.

    Nice Epiphone Les Paul. The cable you called an instrument cable is actually not, it is the “unshielded” head to cabinet cable. The instructions strictly say don’t use a shield “guitar” or instrument cable. Not sure why but maybe something to do with impedance ??? I’m sure I’ve use a guitar cable before on mine.

    Hi great video, this might sound like a stupid question cos im not very well versed in the amplification side of guitar... does this require a cabinet to play or will i be able to play out of the head/ can i plug into a combo? thanks!

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  5 лет назад

      Abbey Road! yes it requires a cabinet that accepts the proper ohms. It won't plug into a combo amp unless that combo has a speaker line in. (I haven't seen one)

    Great tones you're getting out of this awesome little amp, Lando. Can't wait to replace my DSL-100 with one of these for practices that won't kill our ears anymore! Was going to get the 1-watt DSL but, after listening to this, I think I should go with the 20-watt. If it has enough volume at practice, then I'll just mic it up when we play out. Our sound guy will LOVE it!!! (He will appreciate having some headroom to work with.)

    • @williamolsen20
      @williamolsen20 6 лет назад

      I would agree and I fully realize the history of Marshall, I was just saying that you can get a metal sound out of this particular amp, and it is also a low wattage amp that I can use at home. I do not believe that I even made a broad statement about Marshall stating it was a metal amp. I really do not understand how you could have gotten that out of my previous post other. How many guitar players do you know that do not know that Hendrix and Clapton played Marshall's. I really do not like to do this on the internet, but did you make this statement so you could insult me, not cool man.

  • @johne1599
    @johne1599 6 лет назад +2

    All the gain you've been playing with is from the preamp section. I suggest you back the gain knobs down and your guitar's volume knob down, then turn the volume knobs all the way up on the amp. Now work the volume knob on the guitar and see how the amp responds. You should be able to go from clean to dirty using only the guitar's volume knob. Want more or less dirt when you crank up the guitar? Use the amp's Gain knobs to fine tune your dirty sound. Remember, the knobs on the amp are passive, meaning they only turn the wide open amp's sound down. They subtract from that, but never can add more. Bass, treble, mid, volume, gain only can be removed, but never added from the amp's wide open design. The Presence and Resonance shape the power amp section, and arguably add or detract, but they again are merely passive controls. Presence and Resonance settings can greatly affect how and when an amp feeds back or not, gets dirty or stays clean at higher volumes... shaping the output, in other words. Hope that helps more than confuses.

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  6 лет назад

      Lando27Music The point was to experience gain created from driving the power tubes hard, a la SRV, EVH, Jimmy Page, etc. A much ballsier sound from the big power tubes and transformer than the small preamp tubes and preamp circuit.
