Hi man, very good demo. I like more when you play srv style blues riff on the origin, it sounds REALLY awesome. It seems clear that each one has its own target, vintage vs modern, BUT.......
I own both, that's what I think.
I agree with ones who say that where DSL really shines is on channel 1, where you can get from good clean to good heavy crunch. But if you need heavier metal riffs, just put a distortion pedal in front of channel 1...because channel two sounds very muddy by itself, and things get worst with pedals.
SO, it's like they are both one channel heads, if channel 2 on dsl is not so useful and usable.
I think the ORIGIN is very good, because it can really cover from good blues vibes (like the ones I listened to in this video), to good 80 metal with some od/distortion behind, keeping that classic Marshall rich 'vintage vibe' sound.
DSL can do something similar with channel 1 + pedals, but it sound more 'clean and cold', what everybody call 'modern sound'.
So, if you think it's better to buy the DSL for 'versatility', I think you're wrong. It's exactly the opposite.
The origin has a 'voice' that makes the right pedals really shine, and with the tilt/gain boost options gives you same versatility than the one DSL could give you with channel 1. Because if you buy the DSL, like I did, after a while you'll understand that you are going to use just channel 1.
And that's ok, but so the famous 'more versatility' of DSL get lost.
But when you compare light to heavy crunch between the two heads, you'll clearly hear that the Origin sounds way more ORGANIC and 'Marshally', it has more deepness and 'color'. It has the Marshall vibe you expect.
Finally I sold the DSL, it was GOOD but ....after a month or so, everytime I took my guitar and had to choose which one to light up, I found myself choosing the Origin almost every time.

Agree 100% -- I described something very similar to a friend and nice to see someone have also came to this conclusions. Great minds think alike.. lol
I have a DSL1000HR with vintage 30 cab. And I don't agree with you 'bout 2nd channel. OD1 is almost crunch channel by sound. OD2 is a little bit muddy, not very. U can just lvl up presence and treble on EQ.

In all videos comparing both amps. I allways prefered the sound of origin. But in all the other videos they played blues.
You were the first that playd blues at the Origin and Hard Rock with DSL.
I'll buy the DSL.

Jose benito martinez jr what he basically said is that the 2 heads demoed are excellent, but each in their own range: Origin for vintage tones, DSL more versatile from vintage to modern high gain.

Great review, tried both and came to similar conclusions so bought the DSL as I like the versatility/flexibility of two channels and the more modern feel & features of the amp. Eg I use it for recording, the emulated out is useful if you don’t want to hack off the neighbors as even on the lowest output setting, it’s pretty loud👍👍 Both are good, (for the money) so I agree, it just depends on your requirements, genre or style as to what works for you.

Bonjour et merci pour cette vidéo. je possède un Marshall dsl 20 hr. il faut savoir que l'on peut changer les lampes et par rapport aux lampes d'origine il y a deux niveau supérieur de lampes. le meilleur niveau sont des lampes de l'ex armée Russe. et le fait est le résultat est la, génial. le seul reproche que je lui fais il manque juste un soubson de puissance. Maintenant je suis passer sur Kemper profiler. même si le son est un peu moins bien j'ai l'avantage de pouvoir modéliser tout les amplis ou même d'acheter des modélisations (RIGS). par contre c'est chronophage, on passe beaucoup plus de temps en réglage. et le prix du kempers c'est 1869 euros avec le pedalboard contre 700 euros pour un dsl 20 hr avec cabinet 2x12🥸👍🎸

Super enfin une chaîne en français ...C'est un bon comparatif ! Et contrairement à un avis plus bas je trouve que le son est bon et pas si Harsh que ça . Ça sonne Marshall quoi ! Justement , le fait d'être dans une prise son relativement jeu directe et pas trop mixer rend bien mieux. Continue comme ça t'es dans le bon . À quand une vidéo sur la Silver Jubilee ? Je m'abonne et je suis de très près ta chaîne @plus

Merci pour cette video, mais je n'arrive pas à me decider, si il ne faut en choisir qu'un lesquel ? Je ne fait pas de metal ni heavy, je suis plutôt blues, pop, rock et punk rock. car principalement guitariste acoustique. Si quelqu'un a un avis, je suis preneur .

L'attenuation sur le DSL n'est pas aussi efficace que surle Origin... La sortie 1W du Origin 20 est un critère de choix primordial pour le jeu chez soi, dans le salon ;-)
Personnellement je suis assez déçu du dsl20hr. Je n'arrive à obtenir de son rock/blues correct, le canal clean n'a pas de "sweet spot" où il commence à cruncher et le canal lead est tout de suite très "metal". Je vais sûrement le revendre et prendre le origin 20c !
Avant de le vendre, change les lampes de pré ampli. J'ai mis une jjecc803 en v1 et mullard cv4004 en v2.
Branché sur un baffle en greenback ça sonne vraiment rock avec le gain de ultra gain à 50%. Beaucoup moins de compression.
Et tu met le gain du classic gain à fond et là tu as un crunch digne de Marshall. Et ça répond bien aux potards de Tone et Volume de ta guitare.
Je vais essayer le Origin 20H pour du AC/DC ou ZZ Top classique. Ca devrait le faire plus que bien !
Pareil, j'ai acheté le combo dsl20c après essai du 40w. Le son est acide et tendu en permanence, je passe d'un son cristallin à une disto hard 80 mais pas de crunch façon black keys. Je n'arrive pas à obtenir un son riche comme The Answer. Finalement mon modélisation BlackStar id260 est plus sympa.

I have an EVH LBX 15w with its 1/2 stack Celestion GH12 30w speakers and it has more depth & punch than the Marshalls which come across quite thin.

J'hésite entre la tête origin20h et la dsl20 hr. J'ai entendu dire que la origin20h est mieux.
Dsl plus polyvalent à mon goût ! Je joue du jazz et du métal. La origin avec un seul canaux c est bien pour le gars qui jouent un peu crunchy point barre

Looks like the DSL20HR's Power LED is burned out. On mine, the lights on the front panel are very bright. The red channel LED looks white. Must be the stage lighting and camera settings.

Merci pour ces essais en FR...pas convaincu par les amplis, je trouve que çà sonne "harsh", agressif dans les aigus, çà vient peut-être des HP ou de la prise de son trop dans l'axe du HP.... et sinon tu ne devrais pas essayer de jouer des standards mais des choses moins connues dans les styles concernés par les amplis, voire carrément des choses inconnues.
En effet le choix du baffle est très important. Un HP eminence the wizard avec le dsl gomme ce côté strident et aiguë.

Sorry but that Origin does not sound anything close to an original 1959 or 1987 super lead. I heard a few other demos too. No dice. Back in the day I had a ‘69, ‘70, ‘71, ‘72 and ‘73. All but the ‘69 and ‘73 were 1959’s. They all sounded basically the same, very close. Only major difference was where they gained up on the volume knob. The ‘72 had the most gain early on and was my favorite and last to let go. The ‘73 was the cleanest and brightest sounding and my least favorite. I’m not even sure if it was a later partial pcb design? I never thought they would be worth so much or I would of kept them all. I paid on the average $300 and made hardly any profit upon resale except on the ‘70 cause it had a cascading gain mod. So yeah the Origin did not impress me. But I currently have a DSL 20HR and it sounds pretty bad ass through a 4x12 cab with greenbacks.
Origin is it's own thing. It's more like a blend of a 1959 super lead plexi and jtm45. Btw plexi has many different amps. It's not supposed to be a plexi clone. Also, even two super leads 1959 aren't the same.

Par contre les guitares utilisées ne sont pas au niveau, l ampli n est pas mis en valeur, le son a l air plutôt fade, mieux vaudrais de essayer les originaux Gibson et Fender que des sous marques.
Fender Boat les Maybach sont des repliques de tres grandes qualite parfois superieures aux originaux, un peu comme les Tokai japonaises depassent les originaux. Ca vaut le cout d essayer si vous en trouvez.
Maybach c'est du haut de gamme !
