    You just solved my minor problem with my Marshall Origin amp with cranking the volume to get the bass response back. I had been running it with boost always on and treble way down, bass way up. It still sounded good before but much better now.

  • @Jarrodpimental
    @Jarrodpimental 2 года назад +2

    Confirmed. I have a weak amp. I cannot believe how heavy that sounded with the treble all the way off. My amp does not sound like that.

    Great demo thanks. Have you used the emulated out with headphones? If so, views? I have the DSL20C combo and everything sounds thin unfortunately, and the volume doesn’t seem to work; I have to crank the volume on my pedals to get some proper sound.

    have you guys done a video showing fuzzes through different marshalls? Love that jimi sound which he gets with fuzz faces and marshalls. Looking for the distortion sound and then a nice bluesy sound on a budget. Advice?

    Why is the bloody treble all the way down through the whole video? You should flat the EQ at least once in the video!

    • @NomadRonin
      @NomadRonin 4 года назад +2

      It's probably because, at least in my opinion, this amp is very fizzy/bright out of the box with the stock Marshall labeled JJ tubes. Luckily, it's an easy fix if you replace V1 with a Sovtek 12AX7WA (12AX7B might work too but I haven't tried it). The Sovtek reduces the treble to acceptable levels and smooths it out so it's not an ice pick constantly attacking your eardrums. Tone is subjective, of course, so if you prefer ice picks in your eardrums keep the stock tube in and more power to you but, if not, Sovtek 12AX7WA!

    • @masterofthetelecaster
      @masterofthetelecaster 4 года назад

      @@NomadRonin thanks mate! I just ordered the Sovtek WA version. Hope it works.. at least I'll have a spare valve 😀

    • @NomadRonin
      @NomadRonin 4 года назад

      @@masterofthetelecaster No problem! I was ready to sell mine because I couldn't tame the treble to my liking. I had an extra Sovtek and remembered I've used them before in bright amps with success, so in it went. It's like night and day to my ears. I hope it works for you.

    As I can hear, if you need both a Crystal Clean and an OD channel using Humbuckers at band rehearsal volume, you'd need at least the 40 watt version? Seems like the Classic Gain Channel starts Breaking Up a lil' bit early under 9 o'clock...

    • @TSFAHTPS

      yes I had the 20CR and sold it because forgot the clean! remained with my DSL100H... but Im considering to get also a 40C even thouh its too heavy.. 23 kg, vs the 19 kg of the 100H + 19 kg of the 1x12 cab.. I prefer to moove 2 items less heavy than one which csn broke my back

    How is this in a basement or bedroom level? Playing with the 10w selection and the master?

    • @antmax
      @antmax 5 лет назад +2

      For bedroom playing I ended up putting a EQ in the loop so I could turn the power amp while cutting the volume by 15db. It's quite a loud amp if you want a full tone at TV volume.

  • @knisiker615
    @knisiker615 3 года назад +1

    Can you play this at low volumes without losing the sound quality and disturbing your neighbours?

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  3 года назад +1

      You can...kinda...when you turn the output down to 10W its definitely fairly quiet! Depends on your neighbours I guess

    • @MC-sd3bs
      @MC-sd3bs 3 года назад +1

      It has a built-in attenuator so you can switch to 10w, but I like the tone when the volume is up high and really cookin' the tubes. At 10w, it might still be too loud (depending on the situation). I found a decent attenuator, BUGERA POWER SOAK PS1, at a fair price ($115ish) and put it between my tube amps and the speakers (and yes, it can work with combos. Very easy with my Blues Jr., a pro mod on my Vox ac15 to add in/outputs). Be sure to use SPEAKER cables

    nice review, but i think the dsl is vastly inferior to the jcm. the only working thing on the dsl is the high gain. everything else sounds muffled and dull and hardly conveys the guitar's dynamics. i dont want to turn knobs and press buttons every time i want another sound. but you guys are great - even though you have a thing for that "amp."

    Je ne comprends pas l'intérêt de limiter les médiums et de couper complètement les hautes fréquences (présence et aiguë).
    Ça ne rends pas service à cet ampli. Parfois, il vaut mieux s'abstenir...

    This is what people refer to as a "closed up" and very "congested sound". Not pretty at all..
