Kyoto Vlog | WE DRESSED UP IN AN EDO PERIOD COSTUME | Toei Kyoto Studio Park | Arashiyama | Japan

Taking a step back in time in Japan's Edo Period.
There are a lot of Kimono Rentals everywhere in Japan and especially in Kyoto but we wanted to go all out with wigs and all. Toei Kyoto Studio Park has this plus an awesome Edo period setting which has been used in movies.
We had the best time... thank you to the staff at the rental shop, their attention to detail and friendliness made our experience all the more memorable.
Things we recommend:
⭐Taking the earliest shinkansen to Kyoto - if you are based in Tokyo, taking the earliest train to Kyoto will get you there for just after 9am (nearly 3 hours train ride). If you're spending just a day in Kyoto, you will need as much hours in the day as you can get - besides, you can just set your alarm on your phone and sleep on the train.
⭐Book tickets to Toei Kyoto Studio Park online - as we are a family of five and we all wanted to dress up, we wanted to ensure that the staff were aware that a gang was coming lol. Please note, their website is in English but when you do receive confirmation of your booking, it is in Japanese but with Google Translate, it's easy enough to understand. At the entrance of the park, just give the QR code on your phone and voila! And at the rental shop, just say your name, fill out a form (they like to take note of your height for the costumes) and get ready to dress up.
⭐Go to the bathroom before dressing up - really don't need to go into too much detail with this one lol but just a warning the costumes have sooo many layers and the costumes for ladies are tight!!!

Unfortunately, some of the staff who dressed us up felt uncomfortable with us filming them work their magic so we could only film so much 🥺 But yes, we too wished we were able to capture more because it was a fantastic experience 😁
