We always stay at the wilderness lodge on most of our trips. Whispering canyon is the best, their skillets are amazing at dinner and breakfast. The last time we went people were not asking for ketchup.
Granted its been a few years, but we loved this place. Breakfast here sets you up for the day and lets you snack your way through the park rather than spending time finding restaurants.
If you are staying at Wilderness Lodge and have a room in the main halls that border above the lobby, you will hear noise from the restaurant. My husband and I stayed there a few floors above the restaurant and it was noisy up until closing time. Just something to know if you are someone who goes to bed early or likes a quiet room.
That's really good to know ... what a bummer, considering what the price is for the main bldg (preferred) rooms. I guess sometimes a little walking distance is worth it if you aren't going to spend the entire day/evening in a park.
We’ve been going to WCC for at least 20 years. Our kids were toddlers back then and they called it the Crazy Restaurant. We still go there to this day. It’s not the same level of crazy, but always dependable, fun, and enjoyable! In a word, it’s pure Disney.
I’ve gone here every time I went to WDW since I was 11 ( I’ve been 5 times, including once with my wife during our honeymoon) and we have ALWAYS had a great time.
I loved the shade thrown on "that aren't just impossible burgers or portebella mushrooms." I'm a vegetarian who is amped they've started offering more meat free options in WDW, but there does seem to be a lot of reliance on fake burger or shroom based mains as their go-to vegetarian option. Esp tough if you despise mushrooms 😜
I'm not an herbivore, but will often try out the non-meat options because sometimes those are delicious! And nope, not a fan of mushrooms, or the fake burgers/hot dogs (so gross), but what chefs do with veggies now is amazing. Yes, WDW has totally amped up the menus in that department - especially during the festivals!
my tastes are utterly weird, like a 5 year old, as the only meat I really like is ground beef, so my choices are so slim at Disney. For example, the ground beef taco seems almost to have gone the way of the dinosaur, as chicken, steak, fish, shredded beef and even pork tacos seem more prevalent. I could eat vegetarian except i don’t like 80% of vegetables. But i mean pasta and any sauce except meat sauce is vegetarian, so are grill cheese sandwiches, so is any pizza without meat, and almost all sides! Yet if there are vegetarian options, they all seem to be required by law to include tons of gross vegetables! (I think it might be a texture thing for me. i can eat almost any veg (except mushrooms!) in veg soup, including celery, but despise celery in potato salad or macaroni salad.). I am open to exotic flavors, been trying some Indian dishes lately, that are vegetarian, and enjoying them very much.
Yeah again don't get me wrong, I've been a vegetarian since I was 16 and I'm now in my 30's so I remember the old days of *hope that the side of green beans weren't cooked with bacon* as an option besides fries. So I'm amped, but would love to see options that expanded beyond fake meats and mushrooms becoming more prevalent as token mains. I have veg friends who are super picky when it comes to veggies and meat eating friends who have no issues eating at straight up raw vegan places. To each their own. Again still wildly easier and more represented than so many other dietary restrictions let alone allergies these days so grateful for sure. Although I suppose this is also why I find the prix fixe menus to be a no go for me, but I can see the appeal for others. Not interested in paying the same price for a meal that for sure is not costing half what my meat eating loved ones are ordering.
@@PiacevoleKt omg, I have never been a fan of the Disney "prix fix" menus - not only because the price is absurd, but the options are not usually something I'd order given the full menu. I can honestly say that something Disney does do well is to cater to special requests tho. Once my mother was visiting the parks with my dad (long ago), and she had an upset tummy, but kept the lunch reservation at Rain Forest in AK. She told the server that she wasn't feeling well, so wasn't hungry - next things she knows, the chef comes out and asks if she eats fish, etc ... even tho it wasn't on the menu, she was given a special meal of salmon and veggies for a 'normal' price - and she did feel better - and wrote a nice letter to Disney about it. I'm sure that the prix-fix menu is totally set, but I'm also sure that they can be slightly flexible if asked... never hurts to ask☺

Our family of 10 went here last week and had a blast!!! 3 of our party had never been so we ASKED FOR KETCHUP….and we got it!!! They loved it and the meal was great! We think it’s fantastic fun 🤩
When your five year old had a t shirt that said "I put ketchup on my ketchup" we knew WCC was a great location for us... It may not be an absolute "must-do" for us now, but we do plan on visiting the next time we're down there.
I can echo that if you don't want any silliness, just tell your server (they need the money you leave as a tip as they get paid very little). We did that at H.S. 50"s Prime Time Cafe. Why did we go there, if not for the "sit up straight" and "elbows off the table." ? We were exhausted and in the mood for a hearty American meal of chicken, potatoes and apple pie. I told first the hostess/seater "no nonsense." and then our server. She did not come over at all from ordering to meal end; I left her a very generous tip. We did observe the "silliness" at the nearest two tables. To each his own, but remember, be firm in your request.
Went here years ago with my family... like early 00's... my dad was NOT a fan of these "shananigans" back then - they picked on him for finishing his iced tea before his meal came, and brought him two pitchers! He wasn't amused, but we sure were! This is similar to the past ambience of the 50's Cafe at HS, which has also calmed down a bit... And I agree, that seasonal cobbler is so good at WCC. Have not eaten at Trail's End before, so maybe I'll try them out my next trip. Thanks, AJ!
We had breakfast here in October 2021 and absolutely LOVED it!!! The food was awesome, service was great! It was one of the best meals we had during our trip! We highly recommend trying it at least once.
My sister was 7 when we went to this restaurant the first time. It's been 28 years, and she STILL remembers her heckling server. Haha He was funny and nice, but the perfect amount of picking on.
I loved this place, been there three times (I think... 2 for sure) I always thought it was fun, but I'm from Louisiana so yelling at dinner is pretty normal lol
By "a little more at Story Book Dining at Artists' Point", AJ means $60 for dinner, plus whatever drinks you order, plus tax and tip. So it's pretty pricey, especially if you are with your family. BUT, that said, it does look like a really fun evening. For me, it means saving up for a special event.
We discovered Whispering Canyon Cafe during our 2007 WDW vacation, we now make a point to schedule at least one meal there. The atmosphere is fun and the food is great, just make sure to ask your server for some ketchup.
Have visited three times and going back on Sunday for our fourth time. It's always a fun place definitely great theming and suffices for my picky eater. I say it's a must to try at least once🤠
We went 2/13/22 and had “sweet and sour” as our server for dinner and she was hilarious. We enjoyed our food and the cornbread so much and the atmosphere and service was great!!
We stayed at Wilderness Lodge last February (2021) and ate dinner and breakfast there. It was actually very quiet. The only “prank” was when my husband asked for water she brought him a really large glass, but he was happy. As for the food, breakfast was great. Dinner was good, but not great. If you are used to GOOD BBQ, you may be disappointed, but it was ok. At that time though many restaurants were closed. Definitely worth it at least once.
While the restaurants at Grand Floridian were the quietest that I visited in Disney World in 2014 and 2016, the Whispering Canyon Cafe however was the loudest restaurant I visited (but although was just there once in 2014).
We just got back from Disney this past weekend and ate here for the first time a few days ago. It was the BEST place we ate in the entire park. The price was the most reasonable for all the food you get and we found it delicious compared to other food we ate throughout the parks and other resorts. We ate their for breakfast and their skillets are actually “all you can eat”, so you can continuously order items at no extra cost. If you want more bacon, you get more bacon. If you want more waffles, they bring more waffles. We did not find the shenanigans to be over the top or crazy and the decor is gorgeous. We were able to get this reservation day of too. We booked on a whim and so glad we did! Would 100% go back
Good restaurant! We were there in 2003 even though we stayed at All Stars Sports. My little brother & sister came back from the restroom s & our server asked if they washed their hands & then quizzed them on the color of the soap! It was a good laugh putting a couple of kids on the spot for a second!!!
We just went two weeks ago for a late lunch, 1:30pm. Not crowded and our server was amazing. It was easy to grab a lunch reservation 40 minutes before we sat down to eat. 😀
When we went there it was in May of 2021. The shenanigans were pretty mild and I could have done with more I think. I'm sure the food would have been really great if I was a pork eater but the best I could do was a salad since bacon seems to come on everything. Not a problem for most people though, it just wasn't the place for me. I did however love the visit to Wilderness Lodge and would 100% go back and stay there if I ever get the chance.
We have a dinner theatre in the city here that is like that. The theme changes as to what the play is but the cast in the play serve the meal between acts and it's a blast. I think my favourite was this crotchety old mountain man kind of guy (would fit in well at this one, maybe someone is watching for an idea!). He made us take our own dishes to the kitchen hatch when we were done. A friend of mine made him angry so he was always served last. They even went as far as putting his plate in front of him, then the other server said "No no, hun, he gets served last" so they took his away again until everyone had theirs.
You know what you're getting into when you go. If you don't want to participate, you can tell them. "Obnoxious" is a rather harsh term that means "extremely unpleasant". Not sure I would go that far.
My group of friends and I just went to this restaurant for breakfast a couple days ago! It was so fun! The second our server found out we were almost all Cast Members the shenanigans got WILD! 😂 It was awesome!
Was there a couple days ago. We all got one if the platters but my youngest was given a kids portion. Plenty of food to go around. Found it odd that the kids plate came with a bone in chicken thigh and rib.
We went for our first time this past January, and we loved it so much, that we've decided to try to make this a 'regular' from now on! Not only was the food delicious (hello braised pork belly!) but the servers were phenomenal and HILARIOUS! The ambiance is very laid back and chill, which allowed us to take on that vibe as well. With 3 young kids at nicer restaurants (like Steakhouse 71), we felt we really had to mind our manners (my kids are pretty well-behaved, but I was trying to ensure they really behaved as there may have been other parties having dinner as their special meal, so trying to be mindful), but here at WCC, we were all able to let loose a tad which was so refreshing. Highly recommend WCC! 💓
Back in the day they used to spank you with a big fork on your birthday or yell ketchup and bring your table all the bottles of ketchup in the restaurant… some core memories of my childhood!
So, once I was here with some of my family members. We were eating our first dinner for the vacation so far and at one point I dropped my fork. A cast member came up to me with some blue duct tape and taped my hand with it as a penalty for dropping silverware. We had a good laugh at it, and I just took it off. The good part was I got to tape ANOTHER person's hand that dropped their silverware :)
This restaurant has been known to always be rowdy when a table is having a birthday being celebrated, but I’m sure the birthday recipient(s) might appreciate the noise if they feel like they deserve pride.
We went here on our last trip back in January 2022. The food was really good, the service was fast! We were there for dinner, and my husband enjoyed the "all you care to enjoy" skillets. Our kids, though, didn't understand the heckling. My youngest son, age 4, split his milk all over the table and the waitress brought a new cup with the lid taped down and he didn't understand, and her comments made him think he was in trouble :( Wouldn't say it was the best restaurant we ate at that trip, but we definitely might return to it in the future.
Thank you so much DFBGuide and all who help you gather all this information. I'll be going to disney world for a week starting May 19th and I've been watching all your videos religiously. I've watched all the restaurant ranking videos and was able to snag a Be our Guest (just to experience it once) and a Le Cellier dining reservation. I tried to book yak & yeti but I guess resort guests booked it all up. I can't wait for our magic kingdom day cause you've sold me on the cat tail at Cheshire's Cafe! Also do you have any absolute snack recommendations for a first time disney goer? (I'm bringing my bf and I want him to have the most amazing time, since the way prices are going we probably won't go back years)
Le Cellier is my favorite! Right now, they have a few special dishes for the release of Turning Red. The beef stir fry poutine is SO good! And the cheddar cheese soup is a must-have. I hope you have a fun trip!
Tamu tamu refreshments at Animal Kingdom had Simba's Pride, which is dole whip with strawberry syrup. There's also a great pretzel cart by Rock n roller coaster in Hollywood Studios.
TELL YOUR SERVER/hostess. They rely on tips. We did that at 50's Prime Time Cafe and never saw the server between courses !!! left her a large tip in "thank you."
@@MichaelRei99 Maybe they didn't feel well or were exhausted; impossible to not let it bother you if you are already agitated. But simple solution if you just tell server and hostess AS YOU ARE SEATED. Worked 100% for us at 50's Prime Time Cafe. Never saw server except when she brought the courses to the table. Left her a large tip for letting us eat in peace. Servers rely on tips. Just be serious and firm when your server comes over the first time.
I thought you were going to mention how the “geyser” there is super lame. I literally just laughed when I saw it, so at least it was entertaining. Idk how you can single this place out as obnoxious above all. What about the Prime Time Cafe? Skippers Canteen? I think it’s fair to warm people when there are interactive waiters anywhere.
Le Cellier is my choice. Ate there once, the service was so snobby and unfriendly to literally everyone at every table. I thought it was just us until I watched how others were treated. Agreed that Whispering Canyon is loud, or that 50's Prime Time is a bit obnoxious but to their credit, you'd expect that at 50's Prime Time. That's sort of their thing.
@@80sCanadian yes. Everyone knows that quebec speaks French. They are not, however, French people. They're Canadian. And Quebec is only a part of Canada, and its the only part that speaks French at all.
I've eaten all over France and it is the SAME in the actual country !!! Snobby, unfriendly . . weird thing is that servers in LeCellier depend on tips, so wouldn't think there. Ate there once; server was friendly and awesome. Very expensive meal tho !!
I don’t find it obnoxious. I’ll say that it’s probably not a family dining place or a place to eat if you’re looking for a quiet breakfast, you just have to be aware of what you’re walking into and they really should advertise exactly what the experience is more… I went there with a group of friends once for breakfast and it was a blast, we were laughing the whole time but you could tell some tables were really irritated.
Hi DFB. I was wondering if there was an updated list for dining gluten free at Disney World? As a parent with a child with celiac disease and another with a wheat allergy We are about to take our first trip to Disney and we’re wondering what the best options are? Thanks DFB
We just visit this restaurant and my son did not have a good time at all. I felt so badly. We had his birthday button and she ask him for his ID to show it was true and it was a few days away we were there to celebrate during Spring Break. Our waitress call him out that it wasn’t his birthdate and even gave him a weird thing to wear to shame him. He was a teenager and that was not enjoyable to him. Like she didn’t know when to back off 😕 Food was not that good like in past experience: ribs were not good, others meats were just okay. Unfortunately, we will not be back. If we decide to go back we will opt out the shenanigans.
Went to Whispering Canyon Cafe in the late 90's. Not a place for families with adult children and NO little ones. LOUD to say the least. We always love Hopp de Doo Revue. Its loud but its a show. Not just yelling and loud noises. If you have little ones they will love it. So will the parents - they don't have to worry about their children being loud. No one will hear them.
I’m so excited for my next trip!!! It’s going to be in September! I have chronic fatigue so me doing rope drop in whatever park I’m staying at until about lunch or later is perfect. It allows me to go grab a nap in the early afternoon and then wake up and go 3-4ish to about 10! I think I’m going to try to snag a reservation for a lunch or dinner at one of the resorts this time to experience that! Any recommendations?
Went there in January and I would say the “antics” came across more like bad service. Asked for a refill and was told “you’ll get one when I feel like it”…I also asked for a separate plate for my waffles since I don’t like the syrup touching my other food and the server just took a plate that was holding the napkins and silverware and essentially threw it at me and was like “here”….I expected more funny antics and less bad service. I’m not in a rush to go back.
complain; tell someone; and I hope you left a very small (or no) tip. Heard it also works if you say in a loud voice" please don't throw a dish at me" or "I need the drink now as I have to take medication" and make sure all guests, servers, hostess understand you were dissatisfied with what happened. Make THEM uncomfortable.
Whispering Canyon Cafe - FAIL We loved the Wilderness Lodge and may return for a stay, however, the food at the Whispering Canyon Cafe was a huge fail. We ordered the Carnivore that was $26.00 per person and included House-made Cornbread with Honey Butter, Maple-Chipotle Barbecued Slow-smoked Pork Ribs, Oak-smoked Beef Brisket, Barbecued Pulled Pork, Citrus-Herb Chicken, Country Potatoes, Buttered Corn, Charred Carrots. The Cornbread with Honey Butter was good but we could not taste any honey in the butter. The Maple-Chipotle Barbecued Slow-smoked Pork Ribs was like eating burnt charcoaled jerky. The Oak-smoked Beef Brisket and the Barbecued Pulled Pork was very dry and lacked taste. The Citrus-Herb Chicken was the only thing that we really enjoyed. The Country Potatoes were not what I would consider Country Potatoes and they were very dry. The Buttered Corn was ok and the Charred Carrots were undercooked and not very tasty. I must say the Barbecue Sauce that comes on the side was delicious. We have enjoyed many restaurants on Disney World property and I would say this one is one of the very worst. We so wanted a good experience and thought we would have one, sadly we did not. Our family would recommend Boma, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Tusker House as alternatives.
They need to go back to the way it used to be, same with 50s prime time! If someone doesn't like that kind of fun or interaction, then there's plenty of other places they can go to eat! Clearly they weren't hurting for business though because these two places always had plenty of it!
We were there in ‘21, staying at the Lodge and it was awful. Service and staff were just down right nasty and used some language that we had to explain to our 6 year old that ‘decent people do not talk like that’. Lodge was the only resort we would stay at, but since then, we stay at other deluxe resorts.
Whispering Canyon DOES NOT do the heckling anymore. I have visited many times in the last few years and legit nothing. They take your order and place the food on the table… that’s about it. It used to be fun but now it’s just boring
We ate there in mid-January. There was some mild heckling and we saw some gags at other tables. "Nothing" is a bit of an overreach unless you failed to observe other tables around you.
I sense a little bias here! First you stick the obnoxious on the label, which I don't think the place is, then you give sort of a halfway approving vote, saying the food is only "good," then you turn around and promote the higher priced, fancier restaurant! A true guide should treat all the restaurants the same, AJ!
I wasn’t going to make a comment on this video, but… I have to say that overall, I’ve gotten a very clear vibe from AJ that she really isn’t a fan of the Wilderness Lodge resort as a whole. Since we are DVC members, and Boulder Ridge (used to be called Villas at Wilderness Lodge) is our home resort, I find her obvious bias more than a little off putting. I found this video embedded in an article by another DFB person, or I wouldn’t have watched it. The article was less biased and told me what I wanted to know, “ketchup” has returned. Since AJ only seems to give mediocre reviews of Wilderness Lodge and associated restaurants, I’ll have to rely on other sources for my updates.
This place provided our family with wonderful memories.
We always stay at the wilderness lodge on most of our trips. Whispering canyon is the best, their skillets are amazing at dinner and breakfast. The last time we went people were not asking for ketchup.

Whispering Canyon lunch has one of my favorite salads, ever. It's just a chopped salad, but with house smoked turkey a cornbread croutons. Heaven.

My husband and I stayed there a few floors above the restaurant and it was noisy up until closing time. Just something to know if you are someone who goes to bed early or likes a quiet room.

While the restaurants at Grand Floridian were the quietest that I visited in Disney World in 2014 and 2016, the Whispering Canyon Cafe however was the loudest restaurant I visited (but although was just there once in 2014).
yes yes yes this is the disney fun we need def gonna stop by next trip
One of the better restaurants at Disney. Very good food.
Thanks for the map showing where it is in relation to the parks. I get so confused about where the different resorts are.
I personally love it there! My family and I have gone many times, and we’re going again in a few weeks
'lost in the woods' I love you guys!!! I want to try it!
I don't think it's obnoxious. It's good fun. People need to take a deep breath and get over a few pet peeves. Also, the food is delicious!!!
they were so rude to me when I went, I was a kid.
Or people can have opinions.
@@ByrnIntoAsh lllĺo
You know what you're getting into when you go. If you don't want to participate, you can tell them. "Obnoxious" is a rather harsh term that means "extremely unpleasant". Not sure I would go that far.
I think they just wanted to title the video something eye catching
Now we have to worry about "Uncle Alan"?? Lol
The Struggle Bus? Have to check that out on my next trip! 🚌
You had me at "meat"
My group of friends and I just went to this restaurant for breakfast a couple days ago! It was so fun! The second our server found out we were almost all Cast Members the shenanigans got WILD! 😂 It was awesome!
Too funny. I still love this place.
Thank you, A.J. 😀.
Love your videos
One of my favs places , also for a vegan person highly recommend place . Also great cast energy , so for me totally a must to do .
I love what you do
This restaurant has been known to always be rowdy when a table is having a birthday being celebrated, but I’m sure the birthday recipient(s) might appreciate the noise if they feel like they deserve pride.
One of my favorites
I think we DFB devotees are well acquainted with Aunt Susan. But Uncle Alan is a new one. I bet they are married :-)
I remember getting a coke after I drank my water and they brought me a 64 oz mason jar 😂😂😂😂
DOLE WHIP
Tamu tamu refreshments at Animal Kingdom had Simba's Pride, which is dole whip with strawberry syrup. There's also a great pretzel cart by Rock n roller coaster in Hollywood Studios.
@@alyssadeakins Thank you! and I loved Turning Red so I can't wait!
@@DukenMaverick Thank you! I'll add it to my list of things to eat! :3
What one calls obnoxious, I call humor, entertainment, good food, and good service.
Love the shenanigans!
My wife refuses to go back to skipper canteen. I loved it, but some hosts are just so over the top obnoxious (in character), it can be off putting
Screaming Canyon Cafe
I thought you were going to mention how the “geyser” there is super lame. I literally just laughed when I saw it, so at least it was entertaining. Idk how you can single this place out as obnoxious above all. What about the Prime Time Cafe? Skippers Canteen? I think it’s fair to warm people when there are interactive waiters anywhere.
When are we getting an update on Sebastians Bistro?
💯 agreed
Le Cellier is my choice. Ate there once, the service was so snobby and unfriendly to literally everyone at every table. I thought it was just us until I watched how others were treated. Agreed that Whispering Canyon is loud, or that 50's Prime Time is a bit obnoxious but to their credit, you'd expect that at 50's Prime Time. That's sort of their thing.
@@MichaelRei99 isn't Le Cellier in the Canada area though?
@@80sCanadian yes. Everyone knows that quebec speaks French. They are not, however, French people. They're Canadian. And Quebec is only a part of Canada, and its the only part that speaks French at all.
I love how Disney is stepping up for honest elections well done Disney! Go USA.
I've eaten all over France and it is the SAME in the actual country !!! Snobby, unfriendly . . weird thing is that servers in LeCellier depend on tips, so wouldn't think there. Ate there once; server was friendly and awesome. Very expensive meal tho !!
@@esciteach7997 weird bc some of the best service I've ever had in my whole life was in Paris 🤷♀️
I like to have a meal here in the quiet area but not every time I visit
Need a geyser point video AJ
Obnoxious in a fun way. Enjoyed an evening there in 2019 November. Would go again. Agree on food quality; good, but not great
Went to Whispering Canyon Cafe in the late 90's.
I feel like Whispering Canyon and San Angel Inn are opposite sides of the Disney Venn Dininggram?
I’m so excited for my next trip!!! It’s going to be in September! I have chronic fatigue so me doing rope drop in whatever park I’m staying at until about lunch or later is perfect. It allows me to go grab a nap in the early afternoon and then wake up and go 3-4ish to about 10! I think I’m going to try to snag a reservation for a lunch or dinner at one of the resorts this time to experience that! Any recommendations?
Shout out to people with Chronic Fatigue doing the parks! We got this!
The alien restaurant in Tomorrowland is also on this list lmao, that alien keyboardist animatronic is unbelievably annoying
What is that soup looking nut filled cauldron thing right after the dynamite stick cinnamon rolls?
Do they let you eat here if you’re staying at a different resort?
Yes, if you drive there show the guard your dining reservation.
@@317russ or Boat from the MK launch.
WE NEED KETCHUP!!!!
Lots of cowboys decor 🤠 ... but what about the indians 🤔
50's prime time is a runner up.....def. annoying place to eat
Whispering Canyon Cafe - FAIL
We loved the Wilderness Lodge and may return for a stay, however, the food at the Whispering Canyon Cafe was a huge fail.
Hate whispering canyon will never eat there again
Whispering Canyon DOES NOT do the heckling anymore. I have visited many times in the last few years and legit nothing. They take your order and place the food on the table… that’s about it. It used to be fun but now it’s just boring
We ate there in mid-January. There was some mild heckling and we saw some gags at other tables. "Nothing" is a bit of an overreach unless you failed to observe other tables around you.
I discussed with you
Ate there once…
I’ve eaten there twice (once at breakfast and once at dinner) and both times were pretty quiet
👀
We had a blast here. The kids thought it was funny.
This restaurant is so much fun.
I think it’s hilarious. I wouldn’t go, lol, but I love the videos and hearing peoples experience. Food looks soooo good!
Doesn’t seem like something I would want to experience.
One of my favorites...I won’t go to Disney world without eating breakfast there
Those chairs are really unfortunate...
Hey and btw 50s prime time is bad. The food was bad last time and the time before.
My opinion
