    The purpose and benefit of using a rotisserie spit is to spin the meat to provide even cooking on all sides of the meat. Also, the spinning motion helps to retain the juices in the meat so they don't drip out. I don't see any benefit of putting meat on the "Ribolator" so that the meat stays level (not spinning,) but simply moving up and down by a constantly changing height as the racks rotate on the Ribolator (Ferris Wheel). The Ribolator is constantly changing the cooking height, which in turn is constantly changing the cooking temperature caused by it's vertical movement, and all the while the meat stays level on the cooking rack. The Ribolator has removed the primary benefit of using a rotisserie which is to spin the meat to retain the juices and provide an even cook on all sides of the meat. I don't understand the benefit of using the "Ribolator". Why not simply use a standard stable rack. Help, can someone, please explain the benefit(s) of using the Ribolator?

      You are so right.
      What's the point,?
      I suppose if your cooking for a group of people, you can cook a bunch of ribs all at once.

      @@peteprizzi8508 Thank you for you're response. I'm very glad that you agree with my point of view about the Ribolator. I still find no use or benefit in the Ribolator. Simply smoke three racks of ribs by using a Rib Rack that is able to hold 3 racks of ribs, by standing them up on-end. I suppose one could smoke three different types of meats by designating a certain meat type to each individual rotating rack of the Ribolator. I find the Ribolator to be more of a "Gimic" item for the BBq.

    Louis I’ve seen that Ribolator before, and it looks petty neat. The problem I seen in a review is that you must have something in all 4 trays around the same weight, or the Rottisserie won’t work. Now, the Rottisserie looks to be well constructed and easy to put together. I need to get one of those in my life. Thanks for sharing

      Thank you for watching. I do think it needs to be balanced . The designer said that maybe put a rock on the trays that you don’t use .. I might try just 2 racks across from each other and see how it does. I do think it will get used a bunch around here.

    I usually try to buy a couple of two packs of the babyback ribs. They end up fitting better and also balancing better on the rotisserie. Buffalo wings work great on the ribolator too. • @LouisatRshackBBQ
      @LouisatRshackBBQ  Год назад

      Thank you for watching. Depending on the lip of your drum smoker - a canjun bandit rotisserie or an only fire rotisserie might work. A Weber kettle is the same dimensions as a drum smoker but the drums tend to have a thick rolled lip which on most makes it difficult to line up a kettle lid. The rib o lator attaches to any 22” spit rod.

    Great video showing me exactly what I also am planning to do. I was thinking about also picking up a Ribolator for my 22 inch Weber Kettel with Rotisrtie ring. Would be great if you could help me in any way with some questions from your hands on experience using it. Apologies these questions are quite technical so any help whatsoever will be appreciated!
    1). One plus year on from your video since you got the Ribolator, how is the Ribolator itself holding up?
    Do you find that you still use it often? Are the any build quality issues?
    2). From the close up in your video, it looked to me like you were using one of the adjustable Ribolator tray models. Can you confirm the size and model of the Ribolator tray you used in this video?
    3). Do you happen to remember or do you know what is the longest possible length the Ribolator trays can be adjusted to in inches before the trays will then scrape and hit the inside of the kettle wall / Rotisserie ring when they rotate?
    FYI, I want to smoke Beef Short Ribs which are quite a bit bigger than baby back ribs. One pair of DINO Beef short ribs (these short ribs are on the larger side) come in at about 9 inches long with this pair of two Dino Beef short ribs side by side also comming in at less than the standard 5 inches width of all Ribolator trays. So, I am hoping if the Ribolator trays just like the one you used can be extended to 18 -19 inches long, with out them hitting the inside walls when they rotate, then this will mean I can then fit two pairs of beef short ribs doubled up twice long ways along each tray to now make 4 beef short ribs in each tray ( for this I need 18 -19 inches by 5 inches of cooking surface in each tray); can therefore smoke upto 16 large DINO Beef short ribs theoretically at any one time all on my 22 inch Weber kettle.
    Any advice or thoughts from your user experience will be very greatly appreciated and sorry for the detailed questions.

      Thank you for watching. I have only used a half a dozen times - should use it more as I really like it. These are adjustable- I will try and get the measurements for you. I think they are worth the money - getting them to balance on each shelf is the key to keep the rotation going smoothly

      Thanks for responding and for the videos.
      As you said you want to use it more, can you next time you use the Ribolator let me Know what is the longest length you can set the trays before they scrape the inside of the kettle / rotisserie ring once they are rotating.
      I think you have the adjustable Ribolator tray model, so are you able to get the trays to stretch longer than 17 inches and if so what is the longest. Thanks again and would appreciate any insight.

What has been your experience doing it wrapped that way?

    • @OliverLeveritt
      @OliverLeveritt 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, spit should be parallel to char baskets. Also, only one char basket is needed. There will be plenty of indirect heat and rotisserie cooking is normally done with heat on one side only to better manage exposure to direct infrared heat from the charcoal.
