On a flight of two hrs or more they should be serving more than a “ snack “

As always, great video! Nice Simpsons shout out at 11:52👍 I've now flown Delta, multiple classes multiple times, from LAX to the east coast and they have very quickly become my favorite airlines. The crews are particularly friendly and the frequent flyer program is really good. And the time I got a Delta One suite, yeah, wow, they're great. I agree the door is kind of just a novelty but for me, psychologically, it totally worked. I didn't know about the no real food after 9 pm! That's good to know and also surprising 'cause Delta on board meals are actually pretty good. Love your choice of semi-depressing Hudson News sandwich - that's my go-to as well! Always bring my own mayo packets in case I'm faced with the dry sandwich blues.

I agree the door is a big gimmicky for the odd seats, but for the even seat numbers less so. I was fortunate enough to get upgraded to Delta One on a recent flight from Haneda to Atlanta and sat in 6D. Being closer to the isle meant the door added a nice barrier especially when sleeping.

For comparison, I’d recommend Paul to try out Air Canada’s or WestJet’s transcontinental wide-body routes, which all come with 3 course meals (served separately instead of single tray), lie flat seats and full bedding and mattress pads, amenity kits and generally more premium service. Similar flight time of 4 hrs from east to west coast. These are two of the best carriers in North America when it comes to domestic premium cabins.

Better to just slap them with a burger and cold sandwich like the American carriers right? The same meal as in economy was served which was a bummer considering the reviews I have seen pre pandemic. I agree the cabin is nice and service is great but DAL seriously has cut on food offering so not surprised they just give passengers snacks on a domestic flight in F. Good review!

I drink Vodka, Tonic with a splash of cranberry.
As much as I LOVE WestJet 787 business (same super diamond seats) they have vodka tonic but no cranberry. I think I'll get over it though, at least they serve decent meals! The key drawback I find is that Canadian airports have such high taxes, it doubles your cost. I lucked out with a recent YVR-YYZ- LGW return (flying out of LGW tomorrow, it's that recent) on the 787 for about $3,000 CAD while ticket prices have ranged from $4600 CAD to as much as $6800 CAD. Bit it is what it is and I simply cannot bring myself to fly economy anymore, on a flight over 2hrs anyway. Love your vids, keep them coming!

Great video Paul! I can’t wait to fly the A350-900 hopefully someday in Delta One from Detroit to Seoul (DTW-ICN) however if I was in Delta One in a Domestic “First Class” trip even on the A350 with a fully closing door you’d still only get Delta Domestic First Class food (minimal at best) especially since it’s not a COVID related problem now t really should get better, however I’d always lower my expectations for Domestic First Class travel in the USA! 🇺🇸 Pretty sad however the DL A350 is still pretty incredible both for comfort and dot looks! I’ve never flown in it but I got to see it when I went behind the scenes with Delta at their operations centers and saw all their ops at Detroit Metro (DTW) in my new series INSIDE AIRPORTS going behind the scenes at airports! Thanks Paul! This meal thing enrages me. United is the same way. But they do not adhere to their own rules. I find flights from IAH-LAS serve a snack but to DEN they serve a meal. DEN is closer than LAS (BusinessFirst). Your flight was certainly long enough to have warranted a full meal. It's infuriating how the airlines are treating customers in First or Business.

I'm a big fan of Delta, they're my go-to airline for US domestic travel, and I have Gold status with them. For flights in general, they're doing better with "post covid" but still underwhelming. For Delta One... I don't see the value. I wish I could love it but I don't. I flew a Delta One cabin on a domestic First Class route to Hawaii last September and didn't really love the hard product (and didn't get the Delta One soft product due to the route). I won't spend cash for higher than Premium or Comfort+ on international travel, and Skymiles are worthless outside of domestic travel, so Delta One ends up being pointless or even disappointing compared to my other options (Chase and Amex transfers).
EDIT: added that I wouldn't pay above Premium or Comfort+ **for international travel** - I pay for First on domestic flights pretty often.

I agree with Delta miles being worthless, and their onboard Delta One service has been underwhelming, and now the restricted SkyClub access. Being a Diamond member you don't even have a real priority phone line, so I just don't see the "premium" aspect Delta is branding itself to be.

I’ve always been curious about Delta’s premium service on this route, so thanks for doing this! I wonder if we’ll see things change as we move out of the pandemic, and this is a great look at the current state of the product.
    Thanks again

Wow first class and transcontinental and no meal service‽ And I don't know Paul's preferences, but that sorta expensive sandwich bought in the airport didn't very nice either. Really roughing it.

I think its a bit rich for a 4 hour flight in first class that you do not get a meal on a US domestic flight , another great review Paul

Love flying when there is thunder and lightning. I once flew LAX-EWR on July 4, and watched fireworks all across the country from a new vantage point! Great fun!

I'm always underwhelmed by US carriers. Lack of competition has bred complacency in them.

You think $911 for the flight is a lot??? Especially on Delta One??? I just paid a little over $2,000 Main Cabin for a flight from Atlanta to S.Korea

No meal…. Insane. I think at least basic Wi-Fi should be included too. The overall experience looked great, though. I wonder how this compares to European domestic first class, or whatever they call it? I have read that their first class is identical to economy except that the middle seat is blocked. And the seat pitch is a horrifying 30 inches or less. At 6’2”, that is out of the question. I’ll take Delta’s product over that, meal or not!

Imagine paying $900 and not even getting something substantial to eat. What a shocking policy, and complete rip off.
