I never cease to be amazed at the foresight of these chess players. The fact that they'd know to keep playing lost games for youtube viewers 50 years later. It's incredible.
Thes chess masters envisioned that one day some one like Mato would come along and popularize their games to a wide international audience. When you can think 20 moves ahead you can basically predict the future (*_*)
Alekhine is doubtless one of the best ever. His view of the game is astonishing. I'm following this Alekhine series and learning so much out of it. Keres is maybe more instructive for my level, Tal more spectacular, but Alekhine is more inspiring. Great video!
How did Alekhine saw that last move Queen to G6, unbelievable. And also he was playing blindfold. What a super brain, what an amazing chess grand master. This is Alekhine at his best, without any doubt.
He was undoubtedly the greatest blindfold practitioner of all time. He also could be considered as the father of the Universal style of play. Because he really defeated his opponents in any manner during those times. He either finished them up with a spectacular combination that involved a lot of piece sacrifices of course, or grinded them in the endgame, somehow creating an advantage out of positions which seemed to have offered no such things... What a legend! 👏👏👏
Very nice game! And good commentary! Say, Mato, could you do some Magnus Carlsen games where he absolutely destroys the opponent??? I have seen some other videos you have commented on him, and they are fantastic!!! :D
I saw Ng6+ instead of Qg6. Fritz gives it as mate in 7. I thought of Qg6 but then I figured Marshall-Levitsky would be the only place it worked, and I didn't bother to calculate. Both are pretty forcing, though.
Great game Mato, I had never seen this one before despite looking through many of Alekhine's games in the past. May I ask where you find these simul/exhibition games?
MatoJelic Ok thanks, they are great to see, and remind me of ploughing through chess books when I was learning to play. I would love to see some Lasker or Blackburne games, there were some really great attacks from them, and whilst not modern, they are still interesting.
***** Thank you very much, they are often forgotten now, but produced some spectacular games in their time, and are probably easier to learn from in many ways than Carlsen or Kramnik.
I hereby confirm this game to be abnormal, considering the fact that it was played blindfolded. Indeed Alekhine was a genius alongside Mikhail Tal. These are the two Grandmasters which made insane and abnormal sacrifices and created chaos on the chessboard.
I'm sad that you removed your chess scenarios from your website. There are lots of places where you can play a game against a chess engine, but the scenarios you had were fun and unique!

I did pause but I couldn't find a sensibel move. Well maybe knight t g6 but it wasn't enough. Then came Qg6. well I didn' lol. I more sounded like OOOOOCH.
Most people would call White's opening a Smith-Morra Gambit, not Danish. - Having said that; what a Queen sac! She doesn't even take a pawn or threaten something obvious. After Qg6, she threatens Qxg7 mate; but you have to think twice, to see it. So Black must take her, but that only enables a different mate from White's lesser pieces. Unbelievable.
Instead Queen sacrifice could Alekhine sacrifice the F Knight? Look: Knight to G7. If bishop takes bishop, Queen to F6. If kings take knight Queen to F6 and then rook to G3. Can annyone confirm this variation please? Thanks

all three of them, covered in detail by Mato, are SO worth watching, all so talented.
How did Alekhine saw that last move Queen to G6, unbelievable. And also he was playing blindfold. What a super brain, what an amazing chess grand master. This is Alekhine at his best, without any doubt.
Totally right..!

Out of Lasker, Capablanca, and Alekhine; Alexander Alekhine is my favorite.
Another great video,thank you.
Unbelievable finishing move...can't beleive this is a blind folded game
Yikes, that mating sequence came out of the blue. Very imaginative.
Wonderful game. Thanks for sharing!
Okay that queen sacrifice was too brilliant. I would have never even considered a move like that.
No facecam… teardrop. Well, I'm still glad we still have Mato!
Are you sure Alekhine was blindfolded? Most players can't even play such an amazing attack with a perfect view of the board.
that last queen move was awesome
Great game, Mato. Excellent finishing move

Wow, what a queen sacrifies. That was really brilliant.

I believe where he moved Q to G6, NxG7 would have led to mate also.
Brilliant finish. Amazing.
crazy and intuitive all in one!
can you make video about Sicilian defense please?
Danish gambit seems to produce spectacular games! Can you do a computer chess series again please Mato ?

Lewitzky-Marshall, with colors reversed!
Very beautiful end of game.
Whoa. What a finish!

The Q sac was a masterpiece.
Wow blindfolded at that!

Hipnotic !
Dam that end game tactic was beautiful, and blind. Legendary is Alkaline
I wanna see more amazing chess game like this,
What's an epic game,
But I wonder ? .
Was Alekhine a human or a super computer ?!
Impressive....
Amazing
Alekhine is the best chess player of all time and for ever
How he do that ?
I didn't know Sopiko was alive in 1941.
sopiko's great grand aunt supiko
To play like this sighted would be very top drawer. But blindfold !!!!?
Fantastic sar
LOL 2 pawns - attack.I would say worth!
*Interestingly, who was Supico?*
1:56 so why not take the pawn now?
Was wondering the same thing...
because the knight on d5 is attacking the black bishop :)
Oh gosh, such an easy answer! Woops
Alekhine absolutely demolished the guy.

It was truly a brilliant mating sequence. Blew my mind.
knight takes on g7 should be winning as well
So glad you aren't showing your face anymore, Mato. It was too distracting.
Once, i beat fritz blindfolded
Blindfolded Alekhine!

What do I think of this game? It made me cry. Happy cry that is.
OMG THIS GUY IS. TOO GUD BETTER THAN TAL his attacks are accurate
