J for Return, huh? I learned something, and I can’t wait to try it! Slingers - I like one, maybe, two units of slingers, and here’s the use. Use them as skirmishes to bait the enemy, especially in sweltering weather. Keep your army back in defensive posture, and send, preferably, heat-immune slingers up to harass the enemy. Due to their range, they can manage relatively safely (unless AI actually has some chariots). After a couple of volleys, the AI will charge their entire formation at the slingers, and you can make them run across half the map towards you, in sweltering weather. Once they arrive, they’ll be very tired, making the fight quite easy. This works especially well against Sea Peoples, due to their heavy armor. Of course, this works less effectively in cooler climates or against desert peoples. In a fight, I’ll use cheap slingers to harass high-tier flanking units, and bait them away from the battle. Slingers with Strong Vigor are ideal. Clubs - yeah… I guess they’re better than nothing? In a siege, I’ll have them man the siege machines because they have shields, and I don’t really care if they live. Expendable club units are best for this, and they might even soften up some armor for my follow-on units! In a field battle, I’ll have them absorb a charge, flank, or chase archers. That said, I’ll only recruit them if I’m in a bad situation. Missile Chariots - Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but I use them just like melee chariots. I’m just more selective of my targets. While their charge is less effective, they’re much more versatile. They also kill while withdrawing from combat. Light Archer Chariots are monsters after the battle is won, and the enemy is running away. Having two units of Light Archer Chariots is fantastic for collecting prisoners and deleting units.
@@ReptilicusTV I am one of those guys who buy all the Total War games as they release and your videos on Pharao and later Dynasties brought me down the rabbit hole of bronze and iron age. You should really take into consideration the people who don't have (or can't find) the return key, before making making videos where you tell people to use it. 😒
Any battle tips you'd add ? Besides don't play them, lmao. Join us on discord for memes and history ! discord.gg/aTazB9c2X7
