Honda never made a Prelude Type R meaning this was the pinnacle of all Preludes and it was only available for the Japanese Domestic Market. This Prelude was imported by the current owner to the UK in Dec 2020 at which point a V5C was issued. The Prelude Type S boasted 220hp from its 2.2L H22A “red top” engine so packed an extra 20hp over the 2.0 litre engines found in standard Preludes. Revving freely to the red line at 7500 rpm, other engine improvements included the development of a new piston head that increased the compression ratio to 11.0:1, adjustments to valve timing, and a new intake system. The Prelude Type S has a slick 5-speed manual gearbox and boasts incredible handling courtesy of Honda's own Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) which, for front wheel cars that were prone to understeer, helped immeasurably. This particular Type S also benefits from the addition of the adjustable Tein Flex Z damper kit. With just 53k kms (33k miles) on the odometer it's no surprise that this Type S presents itself in near showroom condition inside and out. Buyers who know the significance of such a fine JDM Honda should bid with absolute confidence.
I love my Type S, just purchased few months ago. Very underrated Golden Era Honda.

As far as I know, the type s was classified as a BB8 and there were 3465 of them sold in Japan, according to Japanese Wikipedia. Not all BB8's were type s spec, so there must be even fewer of them.
2:11 it makes 20 more horsepower over the top-spec 2.2 liter compared to other markets, sorry for nerding out :D

One big aspect of the Type S is weight reduction. The sunroof was not present on this model as it was standard on others. This saved over 100lbs and the Type S weighs only 2800lbs, which is less than the other models typically weighed.
A type S Prelude is better than lower grade Type R Hondas

mine is a bb8 same engine as type s prelude and accord type r,i have fitted a accord type r gearbox with LSD and i have the 4ws too. its just amaizing since i have the best of the both ,accord and rype s prelude plus 4ws

Not here in the US, I’ve always wanted on though almost bought one back in 2004
Have a type s Japan imported. Love it. Can't see how to get out the cabin air filter behind the glove box. I am in Trinidad, WI. Any advice
There’s a couple videos on RUclips that explain. But also, depends what year you have. Not all 5th gens had it.
