This was wonderful to hear come together. I remember my first video using Loopy Pro on iPad and how good it felt to build layer upon layer of sound magic.
Beautiful music as always! In case anyone is still reading this and interested in another looper setup: I upgraded my old guitar looper to a Boss RC-5 for the same reason, because it has MIDI in/out (also stereo in/out, 99 memory slots, drums, etc). This works well synched with my Korg Volcas. I use the RC-5 as the master for the tempo and have the MIDI out connected to the MIDI in on the Volca Sample 2 which I use for drums (via TRS to DIN MIDI type B cable). After much research, I found you can set it up to start the drums on the Sample when you start recording and have it record a fixed number of bars exactly and then stop recording and loop automatically. I then sync the other Volcas and an NTS-1 with the Korg sync in/outs and feed all the audio into the RC-5 looper to record them (with a passive mixer). This setup is working for me and I guess you could also do it the other way around if you have a synth with a MIDI out (or a modified Volca) and have that control the tempo on the looper.
I got a ditto 2x for my guitar but almost never use it for 2 years. I recently got into synth ( volca bass and drum) and was looking for a better synth with good sequencing. Looper pedals do not make you precise, you'll need to practice a lot. Now I decided to not buy new gear, instead I'll put together my volcas and unused pedals to explore with gear I already have, including the looper. Guys like you reminds me to be creative and enjoy making music. Gear is secondary.
Hi, The loopers I got are : - Roland RC-30 (works a bit "the other way around" for creating a perfect loop).(also great for Sample Library Live) - Digitech JamMan Stereo, creating loops is easy, use effects realtime and storing loops quick. - Mooer Ocean Machine, Fun to use Live, Looper can be put before or after the internal effects, and in between :) - TC Electronic Ditto X2 Looper, used it couple of times but I prefer the Mooer :) - Korg Kaossilator 2S, Great for creating short loops and it saves every loop you add to it as a stand alone Wav-file. - Korg Kaossilator Pro, Sample function (Line in and internal) Midi in is not working so good, but with some RK cables it can be triggered externally. No Live looping. - Korg Kaoss pad, Nice feature in which you can mute/unmute steps from the loop while playing and it stretches the loop quantized to the bar measure. No Live looping. - 1010music Blackbox, Live looping and editing fun machine. a Bit small for two hands but fully Midi in & out :) - Zoom Arq 48 & 96, very fun to use, but not for live sampling/looping audio. I use the loopers more for Guitar & Reverb combo, not so much for synths. But i play my instruments, record it and use it in a DAW later on. But your setup works nice, so I will be using some loopers soon again I think :) For a Midi recorder/sequencer, 16 channels realtime in/out check out Retrokits RK-008 Midi looper. I think this will grow, connect various synths, play them and record it on the RK-008 and still play over them Live and edit the synths sound in realtime Live. Quantized and undo in realtime :) Your videos are a hit, they inspire, every one of them !! :) Just received a Korg Wavestate and the Elektron Model Cycles and I'm waiting for the Strymon Cloudburst :) 😊👍
This recording grows nicely! I like all the sounds you used here. I don’t have a proper audio looper. I only have the midi looper from the reface DX and I have used the Novation Circuit Rhythm to build loops while playing. I should try that more often, actually. Thank you for the music and inspiration!
Hi, I use a looper pedal with my synthesizer. I start playing my synth and latch the key so there is a sound that „stays“. After that I start the looper. After a few seconds I stop it. Unfortunately there is always a little gap that you can hear. I is just at the beginning and it disturbs the recording. Do you happen to have a clue, how to avoid this? Regards Nosto
Well done. I've seen some great videos with one synth and a looper. I actually just an old RC-1 that I'm hoping to take with me for a super basic setup that I use outdoors or on road trips/camping.. Etc.
thats pretty amazing! I only own the lopper thats bulid in my guitar multiFX/Preamp thing. never used it for synth, maybe i should.....thanks for the inspiration Appart from that i have a reel to reel tape machine where i used tape loops, but thats kind of a different thing...
It's funny you mention this, because I have the 1440 over the 720 on my wishlist because of the MIDI. I thought it would be handy to have it MIDI synced with my groovebox. But if I understand you correctly, it's not ideal. What do you mean with "straightened"? Does the pedal time-stretch the loop to sync with the midi clock or something? I recently got a Mooer Ocean Machine that has a built-in looper (of 44 seconds) and I find it real fun to create songs with it. It only has a few quirks. Like it can can only REC > PLAY > DUB instead if REC > DUB > PLAY, so if you start dry, you will lose your reverb tails when the first loop ends. All in all I really enjoy looping. 😛
Beautiful! I'm about to get one of these, but is it posibble to record and play the loop in reverse instantly? I mean, without playing it normally and then add the reverse fx.
Nice one……….also loopers are good for transitions from one piece of music to another. I use the Roland/Boss RC202 and it does this job really well. When you are coming towards the end of one track. You basically just put it into the looper and allow it to play. Whilst you are dialling in your next track. Then beatmap the two and fade the looper track out (much like a DJ does when spinning discs). Also with the RC202 it allows you to ‘twiddle’ some knobs (for variability) in the looped piece (via assignable knobs) therefore allowing your music to not sound ‘fixed’ (ie it allows for some variation………..filter sweeps etc). Synth players should be using loopers more as once mastered they provide added flexibility and variation to your set/music 😊
@@Volcaniced Hi, yes VN it is a very practicable way of being able to blend two pieces of music on the ‘fly’ so to speak. Takes a little practice BUT the results give you a seamless transition from your current track over to the next one. Keep up the great work. Love your channel/content 👍
Cool, reminds me a bit of Punkrocker by Teddybears
like you said it’s a give and take. you definitely give me energy (inspiration), and i’m sure a lot of others agree.
100%, without this guy I’d have never started 👏👏
Perfect

Nice jam. Need to try the looper on my Digitech RP155 now.
We only get 20 seconds of looping on the RP155 vs 24 minutes on this looper!
youre a constant source of inspiration, please dont think we'd ever be disappointed in you sharing with us!
Thank you so much 🥰
I came for the music, I leave with inspiration and more knowledge.
Thanks for the beautiful music 🎧❤️, great way to wind down from a below par day.
I appreciate the imperfections of life. Well done sir. My ears thank you.

Sounds awesome!! I have 2 looper pedals in my setup, there a must for ambient jamming!!
In lieu of an onboard sequencer, I run microgranny through a looper, and layer different sounds. Gr8 jam
Appreciate your honesty and the bravery to leave mistakes in 👏👏👏
Always magic !Yessss loopers are wonderfull, I use it still almost 25 years so I can say, buy a looper, it will become your favorite gear.
Awesome, loopers and synths go great together.
Yeah - very nice meditative jam!
Great looper work! :D
Thanx Raphaelt. Thank you so much for beeing here.
Fantastic and very emotional. Clicked coz I wanted to see what a looper is. Ended up listening to the whole thing 😊🎶
So nice of you 🤗 thank you mate 😌
Ciao Volca Niced, si è vero, la piccola Arturia ha tanta grinta dentro, complimenti per il brano🎶👍

Good work and good ideas... as usual. Thanks for your inspiration.
Brilliant work as always! Thank you for showing us the awesome use of a looper.
Love loopers! I've one with a bunch of different Drum styles in it.💡
Thanks!

A VolcaNinja master, grasshopper 🙂

Oh wow thanks for you massive input ... I have to read this in a calm moment. Be patient ;)
When to use midi looper vs audio? What do you think of the Rk008 versus Bastl MIDI Looper?
Fantastic!

I got a blackbox and it works asa looper. I'll try it out
very nice ! I also hace some issues using my 1440 sync in midi with my minilogue. I must persevere
Yeah it's annoying like hell

Thanks for listening my friend. Hope your doing well. Have fun with your looper ...
Terrible session volcaniced. Bravo again...
Sometimes I feel like selling everything except the Microfreak, a multi FX pedal and a Looper
oh yes ... so you dont have any volcas I guess?
@@Volcaniced hahahahahaha good point. I still don't want to live without my V Keys.
I’m thinking of getting an SP-404 MkII, which has a looper in the latest update. Saw a good demo of it here on YT the other day.
Yeah a good choice. But a looper and a SP 404 WITH a Looper are 2 different Things.

You get a detune effect if you use the looper as midi slave and EH doenst fix it
Beautiful!

@@LockStoppageSandwich thank you Mallerz
the minifreak has a great sequencer can he do the same thing without a looper?🤭
Indeed.
@@Volcaniced thx 👍 Well, then the minifreak becomes a wonderful machine
Does the looper give the reverb or is it applied by something else, if then what?
Hmmm sometimes I miss to mention the reverb I am using .... Sorry.. it's the specular reverb v3
Your cool at playing live, why not have a microfreak , minifreak live jam.
Let's see what I can do
