I just went back and re-tweaked a lot of my old stale microfreak presets, and it really shows how far I've come. I look at the patch bay of previous presets i've made and I was just like "what was I even doing?" I still suck at using the two-op FM on the microfreak though. I made a decent FM brassy stab patch with the cycling envelope set to one cycle and going downwards, but I know there's so much more to it.
Absolutely love this video. You literally got me to want to purchase a microfreak because of this video. I've hear some good things since the 5 update but your examples of what's possible with creating new sounds has absolutely floored me. What an amazingly capable synth and for the price... i have no idea why this isn't at a standard in every bedroom producers kit. Fantastic, superb, amazing sounds are possible with tacticle sounds that you actually feel like you created versus tweaking knobs on your VST that you never feel truly connected with. Thank you VolcaNiced...... I am subbing and i wish i could do more for you financially but as I just bought a $500 synth (canadian) i can't afford much else. I promise that when i get some more income that I will return it to you for being the tipping point to getting a better custom sound to my music.
Ok foa... You don't have to pay for nothing on this channel. Everything is free. I am an open mind musician and try to motivate others to be the same. That's my benefit. I am so happy that you decided to get the microfreak. You will never regret. My advice is to add a good reverb pedal to maximise your sound. The zoom ms 70 CDR or maybe the NTS 1
Ich hab das Video natürlich schon vor Monaten gesehen, aber es ist genau DAS was ich heute für meinen perfekten Sonntag mit meinem MicroFreak brauche! Vielen lieben Dank!
Yes, thanks for reminding me that the microfreak had good filter tracking. Hope one day they release an 8 voice microfreak idk Macrofreak would be cool. Or maybe just make a built in poly chain function.
amazing ! just what i needed again.. finally got my hands on my first MF !! this same white vocoder version too. I've been jamming it out with my PO33.. so fun ! I'm planning on dropping my first jam video very soon.. this tutorial helps a lot. i will use this knowledge to spice up my arp/seq technique within my performances. yeah I'm just learning it through my own experience like you, instead of reading the manual and trying to learn EVERYTHING before. it's been so much more fun that way
Great video Holger. I will have a go at this. I will also search out your other micro freak videos. I think the MF would sound gorgeous on ambient with a Strymon Blue sky, night sky or Big sky. Trouble is they do cost.
I would like to chip in with the more technical than creative comment. I have seen many people complaining there is no metronome for sequencer live recording. So, first, choose your sequence length (say 32 steps) Add extra 8 steps (1 bar metronome, place a trig on 1,3,5, 7) and make envelope and filter like so that sound is super plucky for those 8 steps. Record whatever you want. Delete those 8 steps, altering the sequencer, once happy with your recording. OFC you can connect it to MIDI clock of either other synth or a DAW in which case you will not need this stuff.
Oh your welcome. As I always saying: handle your instrument like a friend, learn its por and cons, accept it and than decide how it can support you in your creative Life :)
good tips again thanks :) have you tried saving a sequence from an arp after applying spice & dice to the arp? it doesn't save the pattern properly. this is a glitch i reported to arturia but i don't think they've addressed it yet.
@@Volcaniced yeah and if you fill in the dice and keep your finger on the 'arrowpad' and then touch the peper buton, your filled in dice wil keep on the same position and wil not drop back to the zero position....
@@vergellim7361 You can record on top but you delete the notes you already recorded if you are in monophonic mode. But if you are in Paraphonic Mode you can record on top as much as you like. My advise is: Record the loops copy the loop on Seq 2 and work with it. You can always come back to your loop on Seq 1 and start new.
@@Volcaniced I have the Synthstorm Deluge, MIcrofreak and Volca bass linked together at the moment. Very interesting, i didn't know the sub-bass possibility, and i'm happy to learn the trick with sequencer and scale mode. Thanks a lot for that video.
your welcome
Another great video as always and really appreciate you giving us insight into how you create all the amazing sounds you do!
I have no idea what this wizardry is but I dig it. Thanks!
I can't work out why the sustain affects the timbre / pitch of the sub
aaaaa the MicroFreak what a beautiful instrument and thank you for your very cool little court my friend

Hmmm.. there could be a microfreak with a FX section and bigger keyboard...let's hope
I will most definitely use both tricks as soon as I can. Besten Dank dir.. alles super erklärt
Hallo Sebastian, danke dir fürs anschauen und für dein Feedback. Viel Erfolg beim Ausprobieren.
Brilliant ! Thank you

Thank you. I will give this a go next time I turn on my Microfreak. 👍
I hope it still works. They changed a lot with the latest Firmware 4.0
i was wondering when it was going to really pop out and then you took it to 100, that sounds great

I will have a go at this.

That's the point. This is the reason I use the specular reverb v3.. it's a bit cheaper. Unfortunately it's is discontinued
Thanks for the tipa bout the scales!

Thank you. Santa gave me a MicroFreak so this is good timing! 👍

Really well explained. Thankyou.
your welcome my friend. greetings zu Austrailia and a happy new year.
Useful creative ideas; thank you!
Wow!!! The scale feature! I wasn't aware of it! So nice!
Yeah I love it too
Really helpful and appreciated
was a pleasure for me

Hi, danke für den upload 😎😍😎 grüße
Good man 👊
had no idea you could do that with the key/arp mod matrix. I guess I never tried it but omg thank you

How many sequences can you lay on top of each other with the microfreak ? thanks Brendan
you cannot. every note you are playing changes the sequence itself. but you can play notes without recording them.
I’m not a manual reader either. I don’t even know where the manual is. Sometimes I’m not sure about that approach.
Ok, now I want to have a MicroFreak🙄😂
Best decision ever 😃

Of you put your whole finger on the most right key, the one with microfreak written above it it wil make your sound go wild!

How many tracks can you record in 1 sequence?
One track. But you got 2 sequences per preset. Or maybe I didn't get your question correctly
@@Volcaniced If you have a loop created. Can you record on top of it? And how many?

Stupid. Aha. wow.
