Halo Reach. My favorite game of the series with one of the most unique soundtracks. Ghosts and Glass is a fitting musical conclusion to that gut-wrenching ending. RIP Noble Team!
Side note: I kinda love and hate how Marty seems to be pathologically unable to stick to whatever key he picks. There's more key shifts in this piece than grunts to mow down in the final Reach mission.

Ghosts and glass comes from the beginning of The Package, mostly, the one you hear on lone wolf is epilogue
It didn't take long for Reach to fall: our enemy was ruthless. Efficient. But they weren't nearly fast enough. For you had already passed the torch. And because of you, we found Halo, unlocked its secrets, shattered our enemy's resolve. Our victory - your victory - was so close, I wish you could have lived to see it. But you belong to Reach. Your body, your armor - all burned and turned to glass. Everything… except your courage. That, you gave to us. And with it, we can rebuild.

No game struck me like Reach did. I've never felt more connected to a game's characters, few games are willing to have the heroes lose in the end. Reach was overrun, Noble lost the battle, but only so humanity could win the war. Even though the Spartans fell in this game, it is actually the most powerful they've seemed to me in any game because it is more about their legacy and the sacrifices they all make, every one of them. One at a time they fell, each making their dying moments count, and few ways was the melancholy better captured than the music.
Glad to hear covers of these, Reach will always be my favourite Halo game!
Reach is a very human story. It doesn't matter if regular marine or spartan super soldier they equally fall in battle against an enemy that is far superior in every single way. And the best they can hope is that their sacrifce in the end matters. Reach may have fallen but in time the planet was restored and without the efforts of those who have died that wouldn't be possible.

I’m not saying Reach is bad, it’s amazing... But NO other game had characters you connected with more??
@@beanieguitarguy4070 For sure there are other games with gripping stories and characters, probably lots that I haven't played that might be even better; I haven't played every game under the sun. But of the games I have personally played, I don't remember being more engaged in the character's stories and interested in what happens next than I was the first time I played Reach, mostly because I couldn't just trust they would win in the end.
It could also have related to the time I played the game, I may have been particularly moved by stories at that point in my life. So not to discredit any other games, but that's just from my experience.

When this song hits after Kay’s death and they are standing there looking at a burning Reach with Kat in their arms. Shit hits hard every time
The scene where it shows the glassed remains and pans in on you, the text saying "there'll be another time"... It really hits hard
Never forget the feeling of first witnessing that... some games just hit different the first time around

This song is the best for Halo in my opinion, it captures the sadness of the moment and a weird sense of a bittersweet moment because Noble Six knew he completed his mission, but knowing he didn’t have a chance to survive he continued to fight to the end
I'm crying. I remember going through each death of Noble (minus Jun). Returning to the life of a Lone Wolf, the last stand. Noble Six did not run, he stood his ground and fought to his dying breath. Thank you for this

At 1:42 I can literally see the ship flying away as Six gazes at the sky holding a DMR.

That mission was one of the best missions I've ever done in Halo. A heroic last stand, using the weapons and armor abilities from your fallen allies to take as many of your enemies with you as possible before the inevitable end. Those last few moments as you see your character slowly get overpowered by the abundance of elites having to literally tackle them to the ground and kill them. Halsey's message. It's such a satisfying end to Noble 6's story.

@@rreprah9515 It was the 5th released, and knows it. Much of its story and important moments relies on an understanding of the events of the previous releases. Even the atmosphere isn't the same if you haven't played the other games.
I *bawled* the first time I finished Reach. I grew up with Halo. I knew the lore. It was such a big part of my childhood that to have Bungie give us such an amazing swan song to cap it off... Man. I don't know that any other game will truly capture that feeling.

I love how you can hear the same kind of harmonic writing in Destiny’s soundtrack as well.
If Reach had an Anniversary treatment, I hear this track sounding like this.
Playing this mission just as a last chance for survival, along with this song, is really saying "it's all over." Reach is lost but you succeeded in getting Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn. What better way to end a game with going down with a final stand on a lost planet
Reach was the first halo game i ever played. In halo master chief collection and it gave me chills one of the best stories i have ever played through or ever head or seen. And i read a lot of books and stuff but rarly i ever get the same chills.

All halos have a great soundtrack
The music in the Halo games (excluding 4 and 5 [these still have a couple good ones]) is amazing. However you enjoy it even more if you play the games. The significance of this piece is enhanced by the story of Reach. You should definitely play them. They're fun to play too!

To all those thinking this is from Lone Wolf (Current Objective: Survive), it’s not. That particular piece is called Epilogue, Ghosts and Glass comes from the beginning of ‘The Package’ just without the middle bit

This bring me back to 2010 when i first played this game. Even if halo infinite is great, i'm never gonna feel the same things i flet with halo reach. So much memories about this game, the campagn, the multiplayer with tons of friends in BTB, this bring me to times where life was simplier. Now i'm 100% nostalgic
This is honestly amazing - great job!! I highly recommend checking out the Ori and the Will of the Wisps soundtrack, there is an amazing piano collection and with your presentation style, I imagine it would be brilliant.

I notice you were stressing about the key changes in this piece - while I realize yeah, Marty does that frequently in his compositions, I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts that each one here is supposed to reflect a different member of the cast in-game. Each of the 6 members of Noble, then Reach itself for the final change!

The end of a phenomenal game, and even sadder, the end of a once in a lifetime series of games. Halo never dies, its only missing in action.
Ohhhh the memories just listening to this… I may have the faintest memories playing the first two games and a lot for three, but Reach is definitely my favorite for the story it told. And ODST was just something else, it was great on launch, glad people came back to it
